a little help please

ok i got this computer.. and it has win 98 on it.. and when it's starting up a message comes up saying system.ini no longer exists blah blah blah then it says vredir.vxd. blah blah blah..

if you know anything about comptuers help me out and i'll give ya the details..

Does it say system.ini doesn't exist, or something IN system.ini doesn't exist? There may be piointers to files within the system.ini file that have been either deleted manually, or removed when a program was removed, just the reference is still there.

I''m not sure right off where the files is located. It may be in c:\windows, or maybe c:\windows\system32? Anyway, if it's the case of saying something in system.ini can't be found or no longer exists, you can write down the file name, search through the system.ini file and remove the references. I would suggest making a copy of that file before changing anything in it though.

yeah that's what it says.. But the question i got is which file is the one that doesn't exist lol?

Ok.. i still don't know what to do.. or what file is missing.. but i do get a message after the windows screen comes up saying unable to load dynamic link library msnp32.dll the system cannont find the file specified..

Hm, in that case, go to this site and download the dll. Unzip it to your c:\windows\system32 (I think) folder.

kewl thanks.. but now i have one more question...

This computer is an older model toshiba laptop.. I can't find a usb port, and it don't have a floppy drive.. so how can i download a program from my computer and put it on this one?
