Lynn Camp @ Somerset 2005 my freshman year. The Jumpers blocked a last second field goal by Lynn Camp to win.
An amazing game.

Russell v. Mercer County 2006 State Championship. Extremely cold game and Russell should have won that game, but for some reason decided they wanted to be a passing team in the second half. They sure beat Mercer to death though. I doubt they had been hit like that all year. I still say Russell should be the champs that year though. Mercer County had already consolidated, but they hadn't moved them in class yet. So really Russell was playing the 2A State Championship against a 6A school.

'04 Prestonsburg- 20 vs. Belfry- 26 (OT) - Vipperman Stadium
That game was amazing to watch. Belfry had the loaded backfield with Childers, Howard, and Jones. Prestonsburg had Trevor Compton, Joe Blackburn, Jesse Chaffins, and John Mark Stephens... What a battle that was!

Male/Trinity is the best every played in KY!
Eastern KY teams:
Pburg/Danville 93 Pburg breaks Danvilles streak and goes to state.
Lawrence Co/Breathitt 97 Lawrence breaks Breathitt's 47 game win streak in the Regional Championship.
Lawrence Co/Russell 92 2nd round playoffs. LC is a 40 point underdog without their starting QB but wins in double overtime for probably the biggest upset ever (at least point spread in the paper wise).
Pikeville/Beechwood 87 I think it was. I was fairly young but made the trip to Pikeville. Awesome atmosphere.
Lawrence Co/Flemming Co Regional Semis 92. Flemming was up 4 with 20 seonds left and LC had no timeouts. Flemming ran the ball instead of taking a knee to run out the clock. LC threw the ball carrier out of bounds stopping the clock. LC then blocked the punt on the 50 yd line. LC's offense took the field with 12 seconds left threw a hook and the ball was latteralled too Lee Abshire who raced down the sidelines scoring the winning TD! Greatest ending in probably state history as far as turn of events with 20 seconds left in a huge game.
Outside the area not state championship games:
Lex Cath/Cov Cath 05. Lex Cath has the ball 4th and 10 down 3 from the 50. They go for it and break a screen pass 50 yds to win the game.
Lex Cath/St X 05 Lex Cath QB Justin Burke calls every play but 2 the second half to come from behind about 3 TD's down. St X has absoloutly no answere for him. St X has the ball on the 50 without much time left but connects on a pass then gets out of bounds. They kick a FG from 40+ yds out as time expires to win by 3.
Most bizzare ending:
State Championship (don't remember the teams) The team is backed up close to their own endzone. The QB takes the snap and runs backwards into his endzone. The time runs out and he throws the ball up in the air. The other team catches the ball and should have won the game because the QB was never on the ground or out of bounds. He threw it up in excitement. The officials blow the call and say they accidently blew the whistle to stop the game. It seems like it was Murray and NCC maybe?

I have to say Estill/Powell 2004. Powell was down by 11 with 1:00 remaining. Ryan Stewart made some key catches and throws to put down the Neers. Awesome game to watch that year. Scored twice with a 2-point conversion. So Powell ended up winning 40-36.

2006 Hazard vs. Pikeville....Hazard takes a 42-6 regular season loss @ Pikeville, then comes back and beats Pikeville for the District championship in the second round of the playoffs by a last second field goal by a freshman 15-14. Heck of a game...lol

What about P'burg vs Sheldon Clark in 03?
That game went into double overtime and was for a home playoff game. Was just as good if not better than the 06 game.

Two NKY games stick out to me...
1. Highlands vs. CovCath in the 1982 Class AAA state playoffs... Highlands won 13-7 in OT, en route to finishing the season undefeated, state champions, and nationally ranked in the USA Today. Earlier in the season, Highlands defeated Class 4A Christian County, who then went on to win the Class 4A state title that year. HHS and CCH met during the regular season, and the 'Birds narrowly won that game, 13-7.
2. Highlands vs. CovCath in the 1997 Class AAA state playoffs... CovCath won this game in double OT (at HHS), en route to a Class AAA state championship for CCH. The game became known as the "Mud Bowl," on account of the terrible weather and field conditions. HHS won Class AAA state titles in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000, and it is felt my many that HHS would have taken state in 1997 if not for CCH winning this game. During the regular season that year, HHS had narrowly defeated CCH (HHS went undefeated against Kentucky competition during the regular season that year). CCH got their revenge in the playoffs, however.

Just about every game between those two are instant classics.

I think it might have been in the early 90's but wheelwright played pikeville....great game both were ranked in the moutain top 10 that year....i think pikeville won by a touchdown and wheelwright had a chance to win but a fumble late in the game cost the trogens a hugh win....

The Belfry/ Pburg games in 04 was awsome to attend... over 10,000 people at the last one, it was crazy people was standing everwhere, in the mountains, in the end zones, completely surroundng the field, I would like to have the money made from that game, then next week when Russell came to Belfry it was an even bigger crowd...

I'm going to ditto this one. I didn't see the 6A championship this year, but heard it was a better one (and I'm kinda sad I missed it).
'06 Belfry at Pikeville was also a great game, but not quite the '04 OT season closer at Vipperman, the last time a regular season would end there for BHS. In hindsight, Harmon was a Sophomore that year, and until we got back to Belfry and were talking about the game with the players, I was thinking to myself "I bet Pikeville College is salivating over that kid for next season"
BTW BCS, I thought the '04 game was closer, like a 2point conversion was the difference? 18-16 maybe... Eh, my memory's crap these days.

Russell - Newport game in 2005 to come to a blocked extra point in OT to clinch the win. Newport was loaded that year and played a heck of a game. we caught every break possible in that game and came out on the winning side. Great game.

I agree Russell had their chances to win. I think Russell thought with the wind behind them the passing game would have been effective. Didn't matter. Once the ball was in the air the winds took control of it. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Russell was very effective on the ground against Mercer. Both teams were very physical in a very even game.
