The expo is a great atmosphere for basketball, I think we need to have more tourney's there, as for Bob's I think they just cater now. They were in the old Sam an Tonios building, nothing there now.

Cotton Candy was $4.00...:wtf1:
and on top of that the security or whatever they are called was RIDICULOUS..I was leaving and my children started running playing around..and a guard told my child to please stop running...before she got hurt!! What??? With me right there..no one was even around ....and if that wasn't bad enough ..I decided to go and help cheer in the pep section...and by no means do I agree with kids using profanity but this kid really didn't say anything bad..and this guy acted like he was going to escort one of Paintsville's kids outta there...he said something to the kid but I didn't hear the entire conversation.....
They need ease up...and lord tonight they will have a time!!LOL
Its nice to see such BIG crowds there..but it takes away from having it in the school gyms!!
but I guess I'll take it either way!!

I thought that the game last night with Paintsville and Valley was one of the best crowds and environments I have ever seen for a high school basketball game. I loved seeing how big the crowd got and how much the crowd got into the game. My only complaint is that the drawings are not scewed toward the best games lol. I am joking but seriously it really was a downer to see that the championship game was actually in the semifinals instead of the final game. I hope next year it will get back to the system where the chmapionship is on a saturday.

Let's see, if you like the small gyms - that's what the districts are for!!
As for the regional: (1) it is a neutral court; (2) it can handle any size crowd; (3) it is comfortable (in terms of seating and temperature); (4) it is good practice for the teams competing for the region because they have to play on the larger floor like Rupp and they have to play with the same shooting backdrop that they will in Rupp!
So what are the petty reasons to have it at some school's little gym?? None!!
I'm glad it is there! Good to have a facility like the Expo in Eastern KY!

Nice facility, great atmosphere, terrible staff-rude, overbearing and self righteous. I do miss the High School atmosphere where you can buy a bag of popcorn for a dollar and a bottle of pepsi for a dollar. I guess they half to charge 3.50 for a watered down coke because they are operating at such a loss. Maybe.....they need to adjust attitudes and reconsider thier business plan.....Just my thoughts.......

LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!! The Expo Center is going in the Gasoline Business it will be $42.00 a gallon!!!!! LOL

Too avoid the price inflation at the expo... just don't get snacks. I have done it every game I have ever been to at the expo.

LOL I know it man! FIGHT the URGE!

yeah ..its a HUGE facility but come on thats what basketball games are about ...hot gyms...tight seating..cheap food...and EQUAL travel distances for everyone!!!when the tournament rotated it made the traveling fair because yearly it changed.... the 57th district schools have a 45-60 minute drive on a bus just to get there and then have to travel that back hom before they can get in bed...so how is it neutral for everyone....Pike County kids are in their territory not Floyd, johnson.Lawrence,&martin counties.....And their security staff is really a JOKE...I wanna see the school kids run to the floor to get to their team...and moms being able to get to their kids after a hard fought game...
I know its a better facility but I would take QUALITY over QUANTITY any day!!

What pithed me off was watching the Mom's and Dad's last night after waiting their son's entire lives to see them finally win the Region, and have to wait behind the barriers while photos were taken and the media and faculty and sucks from the expo got to hug and congradulate the team. Tears flowing from their eyes and their hearts just being ripped out because they couldn't even get one single hug and pat from their boys!
In '96 after Paintsville won State, they at least let the familys on the floor at Rupp!
The Expo hosting the Regions IMO is like Drive-thru liquor stores....Almost a good idea!

 Good post...I agree!! I think it was absolutely awful...I mean the only case of fans running on the floor turned bad was when the chino the ref got slapped by a fan at Prestonsburg.....and good lord that was HILARIOUS....I just think someone needs to tell the expo to chill and worry more about how people act at concerts rather than ballgames....My god at the Kid rock concert people were stripping, overdosing and were too drunk to stay awake..and where was expo security then??? But because the crowd wants to yell..and get excited....come on now thats what makes the games intense!!

Seriously, I just don't understand the barriers. No other gym has that around here, so why have it there.
Good post EKY Sportster. You hit the nail on the head with that post.

kysportsguru Wrote:It's a great place to have it, cause of the seating. There is one thing bad about it though. The lil curtain thing they have around the floor, should not be there. espically with the metal bars its hanging on, because a valley player (jacob Bryant) got hurt real bad when fell over it. It cut a 3 inch gash in his shin all the way to the bone. I seen his leg and you could see the bone. He will probably half to have stiches. Thats the only problem I have with the Expo. Other than that it's a great place to have a tournament.

The past two years is the most I have enjoyed the Regional Tourn. The Expo is a great place to showcase our young people. Greats schools, fans, players, and coaches. They all deserve it........

The expo gives more of the tournament feeling but high school gyms were littler which seemed louder and crazier, that atmosphere is taken away a little at the expo.

THE EXPO is a great place for high school basketball .THE food is very over priced.

I agree with you there. I usually try to eat at home before I go to a game. The food's cheaper and much better tasting!

Hey the Expo is the mini-Rupp! It is a great place to get the teams ready for Rupp! The floor is the same lenght, the goals and depth are very similar, the open atmosphere is similar and even the security is similar! lol
But I think that anyone that was complaining about the security at the Expo should try out the security at Rupp! I call them the ticket gestapo! They don't just check your ticket when you first arrive, but you have to show it to leave too! j/k

I Would Like To See A System Set Up Where The Finals Are Played In The Expo But The Games Leading Up To It Are Played In A Gym. The Team With The Best Record Gets Home Floor In The Tourney Antill The Expo... I Think This Would Be Abetter System
03-22-2008, 01:38 AM
The system now is fine all teams that get in playing there but I see what your talking about that would be something like the 2k tourny in college basketball
