Belfry Rumor?
#61
I know all the players/coaches and others behind the scenes making the promises. NEXT stated Burch did want them and there's no doubt he is close to their coach and knows what he's talking about. I'm not going to comment on the two transfers other than all parties will be happier...so best wishes to all. The younger players on the team will have a "renewed desire" for the game. If you watched Belfry play this year they had two to three with the ball and that many just standing around. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Howard and McCoys attitudes...they adjusted nicely to high school competition and worked extremely hard to fit into their roles. Howard had a horrible season in regards to her health and was constantly weakened by illness or injury...get well quickly. Staten will be staying...she is also an excellent volleyball player starting her last two years and enjoys the game and her teammates.

There is another "rumor" floating around that impacts this thread. Will JR be back at Phelps. BMR has announced his retirement...it would extremely difficult for him to turn down. Time will tell.

One question...what grade is the Riley girl in for Phelps?
#62
Okay goodluck to Belfry, I'm glad they will be a renewed desire thats good for them.

On the other JR WILL be back at Phelps, and Riley is in 11th grade.
#63
read JR's post in Phelps Lady Hornets he plainly states about next year, he is not going anywhere, he loves his girls team.

Answer me this... WHY would JR sell his house in Paintsville and BUY a home near Phelps just so that he can do the same thing again this year? JR seems to me that he is very well satisfied, well adjusted to the school, and very interested in working with the girls team at Phelps. He has done a excellent job and will continue to do so until the time comes for him to make a change IF he decides to do that. THAT in itself is his and his wifes choice and should not even be assumed on here. PERIOD!

I agree 100% and know your very close to them. All I said "it would extremely difficult for him to turn down". Nothing was assumed just a rumor and a statement.
#66
I think if he had the chance to get the head coaching job at his old high school he would take it...it would be hard for him to turn it down.

Not many coaches wouldn't take that job.

I totally agree!!!!

Agreed it would be hard for him to turn down... AND..... yes, I do personally know them and yes I love both he and his wife very much. Whatever choice he would decide to make I would support them. BUT the fact of the matter is JR VanHoose is the head coach of the Phelps Lady Hornets. This thread is NOT about that. Anything posted to the matter of him changing jobs would be completely assumption and rumor.

PLEASE keep this on topic!!!

Burch DID want them, I do know this from talking to someone who knows what they are talking about they just chose Phelps, I never said Staten was going to go, I just had heard she wanted to but wasn't being allowed and that she wanted to go to Phelps but now that the other 2 girls went to Phelps she's not going anywhere, but I did hear she was thinking about not playing baksetball next year and that came from one of the girls' mouth.

I'd say I know Doc a little better than you, but hey you never know.

I am in no way saying the girls are bad girls. They are both good girls, and do not get on any trouble. Both are good basketball players also, but if you guys think they are all the sudden going to get eligible then you are mistaken but I hope they do.

Look at the JC football player, ruled eligible, the investigated and ruled no.

You never know, right? It's okay they are probably going to be happier at Phelps than they would've at Burch anyway, they are going to be a help at Phelps and would've been a help at Burch.
I'm sure they have houses to prove, and all the information to back it up, trust me I'm sure they just wouldn't jump into this if they didn't have all of these things.
#74
Can anyone verify that these two girls have in fact enrolled at another school !!!!
#75
They did withdraw from belfry on 3/11/08 around lunch time, that came from a teachers mouth so I guess we should be able to go on the word? So, I'm guessing their full day was probably on Wed.

I may get banned again, but I don't care...

**** you if you think Merissa isn't a team player. That kid's been through **** and still she manages a smile most of the time.

Yes, she has an attitude. She's a competitor, and she gets upset when things aren't going the right way. Most of the kids at Belfry have problems with their coaches right now, in most sports, for various reasons, and while I'm not going into it, I AM acknowledging it. Outside of the fall, something is wrong on Pond Creek...
#77
that is a good post sarrr most people don't even know what Pruitt or Whitt has been through in their life, but everyone on here just seems to act like they know everything about them but maybe if they did they would understand why things have happened and happen the way they do with these girls.

On another note there is problems on Pond Creek, these girl s are leaving at the right time.

Alot of children have been through alot of things in there life, that makes no excuse for how any child acts.....

And you shouldn't say most kids at Belfry have problems with there coaches, because that isn't true...............the football team, has great respect for their coaches, the volleyball team, has great respect for their coaches and maybe that is why these programs are so suceesfull.............

All I am saying you shouldn't speak for all atheltes at Belfry, because I am sure you don't know about every athelete at Belfry............And children should have respect for any coach no matter how they or there parents feel about the way a coach coaches and respect comes from the home....

First off lets look at whats going on here. It takes a COWARD to get on here and hide behind a screen name, and bad mouth any of these girls just because of jealousy. Everybody who knows Merissa knows she is a goodhearted girl who only treats people nice. She does play as a competitor, and hates to lose. It amazes me that some of you people have the guts to get on here and say things, and won't say it to there face, Or to their families face. That includes Merissa and Shae. I really think that it is all because of jealousy if your kids was throwing in 25 or 26 points a game(like Shae) and 20( like Merissa) I wonder if everybody would be as hard and down on these girls as they are. I just don't get it..........
#81
And also you talk about the BELFRY FAITHFUL, I'm a part of the BELFRY FAITHFUL who is not going to get on here and BAD MOUTH a bunch of young girls for any reason, no matter what. I'll leave that up to their parents and coaches. Good Luck to Belfry girls in all they do. Yeah and the best of luck to Merissa and Jonda and the Phelps Lady Hornets!!!!!!
#82
I think this thread needs to be shutdown.

Good luck Phelps and Belfry nest year.

Things are great in the Belfry Baseball system, very tight group, an all the players get along great with Coach Hagy an his staff...

These girls, I'm sure, have made the best decision for themselves. Let everyone adjust as they will.... good luck to all parties involved.... hopefully the whole situation will work out better for everyone involved!

I'll be back at Phelps, I have invested too much in my house and in my job here to leave. Not a difficult job to turn down, all you do is say one word, "No!" Besides, I am happy here at Phelps and have no reason to leave!!

I wish all the girls good luck where every they play at................

all i was saying people should not speak for all the students and players at belfry.....

Good post Starr and Vanhoose.

Coach, these Belfry girls would probably kill you if you left now after all this junk they are taking from leaving the "pond creek nation".

And to everyone else who has dogged these girls things that happen in peoples life do effect the way they act, and trust me it's not been a easy road for either one of these girls, I think people should really stop discouraging them and wish them the best of luck I mean it's their senior year they are both good players, anybody with a GOOD heart would want the best for both of them and quit coming down on them so hard.

The boys are a tight group, I agree with that. But most of them have known eachother since pre-K...
