Belfry Rumor?
#31
uksports99 Wrote:Smile The last paragraph is very funny. On the other hand I'm sure that Clay Campbell was their coach at TC right? I know that he did not put up with any attitude from either one of the girls, he is a great coach and he sure proved that in beating Belfry 2 times this year. Also, the girls never had attitude towards Coach Gannon or his assistant, so really I don't know what you have been watching. All I said was that it wasn't ever bad until the new coach. The girls never showed attitude on the court and faught with their own teammates when they were under Campbell or Gannon, everyone knows that their butts would have been sitting on the bench. Therefore, you must blame it on the coach for not demanding respect and taking authority because kids are kids, if you let them have their way and run over you, they are going to, and that is ANY kid at ANY school.

As far as it goes for JR, he is a classy guy, I'm sure him and the girls have already talked about these kind of things, just let him take control, we will see whos the good team between Phelps and Belfry next year, no matter how bad anybody wants to admit it everyone in the region knows Pruitt is a good player and with a coach that demands respect she is going to be even better next year, its clear to see that no matter what its a loss to belfry and phelps is nothing but gaining two good players with great chemistry out of this.

No that not Any Kid at any school I'm sick of hearing these are just kids that bull. These young adult {because that what they are} know better than to act the way they do just because they can. Phelps might beat Belfry 3 times next year so what but are team will get along better,, have more fun and play like a team. and the other girl got kicked off Belfrys team last year because of her ATTIUDE

If I dont recall she quit once or twice on Coach Gannon because she didn't like the way things were going and then she came back!! and at TC her coaches were Fred and Mr. May and trust me she ran over both of them!! I don't have to take anyones word for it I have watched her play since she has been little...... dont get me wrong she is a good player when she doesnt have her attitude... but she has her attitude 99.9% of the time....

No one said anything about JR being classy or anything like that. I think he did a great job with those girls this year, but I dont care what you say he will have trouble out of her....the phelps team is in our prayers!!!!

IMO she will be a short timer if that is the case as I really don't think JR will put up with any nonesense what so ever. The girls know what he expects from the start and if they don't abide by the TEAM rules then they more than likely will be shown the door!!

And I'm sure that Phelps will have fun while beating them.Smile No, when all that happened with the other girl Deskins told me she quit came back and took her punishment, then she quit again after the next game? but you may be right. I just know if she got kicked off for attitude 2 or 3 others should've too.

I also know that these girls played for Clay Campbell so, and you never seen them give Gannon or his assistant any attitude, so don't give me that crap. I know Gannon's ways and he would've not let anything go on the Collins has. Its okay though I know from sitting around parents they have been jealous and wanted them out of there for a while because they always got more playing time ever since they have been in KY, the first time I seen them play was a John's Creek and I heard complaints of them getting too much playing time as 6th graders.

Goodluck to Belfry though, I support all region teams, but I figure I'm going to lean towards the Phelps hornets next year just because everyone is dogging the 2 transfers honestly I hope everything bad that has been said about them comes back to slap everyone in the face.Smile

and people who just think they know everything? do you know what has been said between them and JR? do you know what kind of relationship they have developed already? No, none of us does, so lets just wait and see what happens on the court because you can tell that JR has a good relationship with all his players.
#36
You are one of those people that think you know everything. No one cares what has been said between them and JR because it wont matter mid way through the season!!! There will be a game when shes not scoring or she thinks she is getting fouled and thats when the trouble starts. Her not liking the coach has nothing to do with her attitide and effort on the floor. That just makes herself look bad. She got a techinal this year for saying things to the refs and that had nothing to do with Amanda. I hate it when people always blame the coach when it is the own players fault. She couldn't get out there and play for them!!! Dont get me wrong I think JR is a good coach and he really imporved that team this year but hello Amanda beat him 3 times this year!!!!! You gotta give her some credit!!!! Amanda's problem is now JRs problem.... and trust me she was the major problem on our team.

Dont count out those Belfry girls just yet....they will be pretty good next year and will beat Phelps......

I guess everyone at Phelps is just anxious to see what you mean when you don't mean it's not just basketball?

Yes, I agree Belfry did beat Phelps 3 times this year BUT with Pruitt having half of their points in ALL 3 games and Deskins with the other, remember you are loosing them, they might had bad attitudes and it got out of control but they did keep belfry scoring. As far as Belfry beating Phelps, watch and see it's not going to happen. These two girls are going to give everyone a slap in the face.

Also, I done a little phone calling and if you would've watched these girls at all you would've known the played for Campbell their 6th grade and Fred 7th grade, they did run over Fred but he let them, they still won district though and got beat out in the semi's. They never played for Mr.May they didn't play their 8th grade year, they moved on up and started working out with Gannon's high school team.

It's also funny how you keep pointing Pruitt out when it was plain to see the Deskins was worse than her, every play screws up and gets T'd up sometime in their career but I guess all the other younger players on Belfry just have great attitudes, actually I saw a few fly from Howard and McCoy this year, I can completely understand their situation though I guess it's not coming up and not being the star anymore, but they will get what they want next year their time to shine but I don't think it'll be a very shiny day for them when they play Phelps. Just my opinion though.

Lets get this back on topic..... IF you can't say anything positive about the girls, coaches, schools, then we will close it. I know we all have our own opinions about the situtations but you must remember that these are high schoolers NOT WNBA players..... Let's act like we have a little maturity about us or this is a short time thread.......

I'll agree with you on one thing, Deskins was worse than Pruitt and Pruitt fed off that...as for your sources, you need to double check, Pruitt and Whitt both played their 8th grade year, but early in the year Fred quit and Mr. May took over...Mr. May did not let them run the show, so they quit...and yes, the younger girls do have great attitudes, thus three consecutive Pike County championships and a Mountain Conference championship...the only thing you saw from McCoy or Howard was them standing up to Deskins' verbal bashing which ran many of the younger girls off....McCoy, Howard, Woolum and Staten are true team players that are willing to do whatever it takes to win, any of these names should not even be mentioned in this thread as they knew as 8th, 9th and 10th graders they would not be stars, they just love and respect the game and will be just fine for the next three to four years...yes, Pruitt and Deskins did score 75% or more of the teams points due to their two man philosophy and only passing to their teammates when they were in trouble and needed bailing out and they should be your leading scorers and the younger girls know that, but they also need to get their butts back and play defense as hard as they tried to score...you may be right, Phelps may beat Belfry next year, but Belfry will win and lose with respect and dignity and not have the whole 15th region (especially the Belfry faithful) talking about how poor the attitudes are and how lazy they are...this young group of girls will bring pride, honor and dignity back to the Belfry Lady Pirate program and if Pruitt and Whitt do not want to be a part of that then we will gladly let them leave and wish them the best of luck...we at Belfry only want young adults (not kids) that want to be there and want to be a part of something bigger than what they are (A TEAM)!

I'm sure when Pruitt and Whitt reads this they are going to crack up, or maybe they already have read this. They never even played one game their 8th grade year, they quit before the season started, I called about that last night, but whatever you want to say, they got better things by going on up to high school anyway. enough about that. Rumor is Staten wants out of there anyway but her mom won't let her, so I heard she is only playing volleyball next year and this ISN'T middle school, everyone shined in Middle School and got their championships, it's a whole different level and a whole new story in high school so what they accomplished in middle school means nothing once you leave. Everyone knows until they get a new coach at Belfry things aren't going to be fine, even the younger girls do not like her I heard that out of parents' mouth. Pruitt and Whitt did the right thing if they want a good senior year, and I believe JR will give them the best he can. Whitt and Pruitt have great chemistry and with teammates that actually like them and want them to be apart of their team they are going to be something to look out for. I'm pretty sure Belfry has already gladly let them leave, but it probably wasn't with the best wishes, I heard they had a lot of peoples "opinions" the day they left, honestly I hope these girls do awesome and every negative thing that people have said to try to put these girls down comes back to make them look stupid because no kid should be downed maybe if they would've been encouraged instead of discouraged their attitudes would've been a different story but with parents and whoever else just sitting around talking about them wanting them out of there of course its not going to get any better but I'm sure Phelps has done nothing but encourage them, and I also hope Belfry can get it back together, and someone from the 60th district wins region next year!!
#46
I can see that it doesnt matter what is said that you are still going to defend them so I am going to leave it at this.....if you are from Phelps you can have them we are glad they are gone....as for our team we will be fine, young but fine...you can say what you want to about who will beat who....but keep in mind Pruitt and Whitt will be seniors and McCoy and Howard will be sophmores and Woolum will be a freshman...so they will be a team to watch out for in the next couple of years!!!!
#47
Enough said about this best of luck to Belfry and All the girls from Phelps.Maybe JR can get it out of them hope so. GOOD LUCK:p

It will be a miracle if Pruitt gets eligible.
If her family does not move, there is no way.
If she rents a house, no way.
If she gives an address of someone i Phelps, no way.

I don't see her getting eligible at all.

KHSAA will look long and hard at this one.
#49
I'm sure that Pruitt and her family wouldn't make this move if she wasn't for sure going to be eligible, I would say her and Whitt both have resident addresses at Phelps, someone said Hamilton said that Belfry agreed to sign off and as long as they don't fight it, and the KHSAA sees physical address and lease agreements then it's pretty much a done deal.

How do you know that they are going to get alone and that they like each other they have not played together and have just when to school together a couple of days. And what about the girls that been there for years are they just going to let two girl come in thier Sr Year and be the big stars.....

Really?

Tell that to the boy from JC.

Addresses do not cut it anymore, and just because the principle signed off on doesn't mean the KHSAA isn't going to be looking.

I'm sure there are some from Pike Central that will call the KHSAA just to make sure everything is legit.

Let PC call, AD went back and forth more than once and it got done for her, they have plenty of time to work with them getting eligible if anyone is going to call they better do it soon, I would say Phelps is already sending in the paper work to get them eligible before school even goes out, so PC better get on top of their game if they are going to complain. If I were a die hard Central fan I would complain too these girls are going to give PC something to worry about. Smile

coming from someone that has played ball with these girls... you are very very wrong.
we didn't even play under the "new coach", Campbell or Gannon.

JR Vanhoose will have his hands full.

What do you mean by your first statement?

I just really don't think Vanhoose would waste his time trying to help these girls out with getting eligible and develop a relationship with them if he thinks it would just be a mess, watch him do work with these girls next year. I'm sure he is one step ahead of everyone and already had a sit down with the girls. So, just let him do his job and I guarantee they play a whole lot better for him than they did Collins.

I think they were getting out of Belfry and from what I understand it was between Burch and Phelps the whole time, and I guess it's obvious that they picked Vanhoose. Smile

Question: Do any of you personally know Whitt or Pruitt, I highly doubt it. What other problems could these two girls be having besides on the court? I'm almost positive that money is no problem, for either of these girls. IF this situation is going to come about, should'nt people question if they were paid earlier in time when they transferred from Matewan to Belfry???? Why do you think that Phelps is all the sudden going to pay them. Phelps' team won many of games this year without these two girls, so why say that Phelps try and bribe them? The way I look at it is this was the two young girls decision and apparently their parents thought that this would be great for them also!!!
#60
I've watched both of these girls play ball since they were young, attitude has never been a problem. Im positive that neither of these girls played one game the whole season their 8th grade year cause I think very highly of both two girls, and know them personally.
