Anyone who thinks the 15th regional tourney shouldn't be at the Expo Center...
#1
:beavis: ...is crazy.
#2
Yep, 5340 people at the game, no other gym could hold that like the Expo.
#3
best thing that ever happen to the 15th region...
#4
well ask you this. We they have been that many there if Valley want in the semi playing paintsville.

No brainer.....NEVER go back to a high school gym.

Huh? lol.

Agreed, it was a very anticipated game, and rightfully showed. One of the best i've seen. There were a lot of people who wanted to watch it, A LOT haha.

I just dont see your point in whether it should be held at the Expo or not.
#7
I do miss the high school gyms but the Expo is ideal, makes you appreciate what this city has done for the community.

It's a great place to have it, cause of the seating. There is one thing bad about it though. The lil curtain thing they have around the floor, should not be there. espically with the metal bars its hanging on, because a valley player (jacob Bryant) got hurt real bad when fell over it. It cut a 3 inch gash in his shin all the way to the bone. I seen his leg and you could see the bone. He will probably half to have stiches. Thats the only problem I have with the Expo. Other than that it's a great place to have a tournament.

Probably have to have stitches? I'd hope if it's that bad that he will, don't want to go around with the bone hangin' out....hahaha, jk with ya there.

I agree, some of the facility close to the floor is hazardous, but the big atmosphere will help the players adjust easier to Rupp. Shooting with the deep backdrop is a lot different than shooting at a goal with a wall 5-10ft behind it. The depth perception will have to be there also, so I think it's a great thing that the region is now at the EXPO.

I hated to hear that... hope Perfater & Perfater don't get wind of this... now, I don't care for the seating in the endzone... it's just awful and the security folks standing around the sides to the point that no one can see thru them or around them... if their seats are on the first three rows... I also do not believe it's cheer friendly... the bands were opposite their cheering sections and on the Paintsville end, their band was opposite their cheerleaders & fans... glad Pikeville has it, and it is good for basketball fans in general.... but I still enjoy games in high school gyms... :Cheerlead

IMO the expo is a great place to hold the tourney BUT I do think some of the staff members at the Expo are very rude. They need to realize that it isn't a concert they are "patrolling" ..... it is a high school sporting event!!

The expo is the perfect place for this tourney. No other high school gym could offer this type of atmosphere.

Those metal bars are about the same distance away from the court as the metal bleachers at most gyms. At least the bars have some give to them and they will move when you hit them. As a parent, I have always worried about the court being up a couple inches higher than the rest of the floor. No gym is 100% safe to play on.

As far as the security people are concerned, as far up as we was sitting, I dont think many of them could climb that many stairs. LOL
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

no gym around here could hold that big of a crowd...i enjoy going to the expo to watch ballgames...especially region the atmosphere is totally different...i agree that the security is rude...u cant tell a bunch a highscool kids to sit down and be quiet when their goin crazy for their team..in my opinion id never take the region outa the expo
#15
okay...it might hold bigger crowds....but my goodness the security are like police officers!! I heard some of the PHS parent/moms complaining that the police and security kept making them move and being RUDE!!!! I just thought it was funny....then to make things even better they said that I guess one of Paintsville's students said WHAT the H#LL and the security officer told them that they can't use that kind of language in the Expo...LOL not trying to be mean or judgemental but you are telling people they can't use profanity at ballgames ..but yet can get DRUNK as all get out on a SUNDAY and thats OKAY !!! PLEASE!! they need to check themselves....and get with the program!!!AT RUPP do you see Security and deputies and wanna be cops patrolling telling people no to cuss?????:lmao:
#16
The security at the expo is ridiculous. Valley fans were going crazy as soon as they took the lead alst night and they jumped down onto the floor, and as soon as they didn security was pushing them back onto the bleachers. They act like crime is a big thing around here and that 17 year olds are going around beating up old people all the time. Something else I have a problem with is not allowing to rush the floor, even colleges allow students to rush the floor, why won't the freakin expo?
#17
I thought $14 was steep for 2 lemonades and a cotton candy!
But hey....I drive a SUV with gas approaching $4 a gallon!
I have no problem with the Expo. Just wish I knew of a nice place to eat befor the game that you don't have o wait so long to get in.
Doesn't anybody in Pikeville cook a meal at home? It doesn't matter what day or what time of day, if it ain't fast food, you have to wait! That's a bummer.

If you go to the game tonight a really good place to eat that is quick in Pikeville would be Jerry's, Huddle House, the Mexican Resturants or a little BBQ place called Bobs Mountain BBQ:thumpsup:

Keep on going straight on 23 like your going towards Valley and you will pass the A&W, just keep going straight and then you will see I think its a Days INN take the next right after the days in and you will see it sitting in a little valley type area right beside the hotel. IFFFFFFFF you see a cemetery on your left you have gone to far.

They have a sample platter with a little bit of everything if you love BBQ that will be right up your alley

The East Kentucky EXPO center is a great place to host our regional tournament. I'll admit that I was a bit hesitant about it at first, but after watching the first tournament there, I was all for it. After all, you can't say any team has a home-court advantage on it either.

And about these barriers, I really don't see the point in them. After seeing the one PHS player take out a couple of them and then Jake Bryant getting cut on them (just going by what I read on here), I noticed they don't keep anyone from not going out. Which means it doesn't keep anyone from not going in. Just a thought.

I personally saw one woman "security" officer watching 2 little girls who were in the upper level of the stands and I guess she didn't like that they were going up and down so she told them to sit down. Mind you, their parents were within 5 feet of them at all times. IMO... their parents paid for tickets and those 2 children were not hurting anyone. That was very rude. I myself was told to take a seat as if I were a child. I paid for a reserved seat but when I did sit it was in the general admission seating area. At the time I was asked to sit down, I was waiting on a friend to come from the bathroom and the concession. Customer service etiquette would seriously benefit some of those employees at the EXPO....

Who exactly pays their salary?? LOLOL...... Ya know...... the thing is that they basically have the upper hand on you. They can be as rude as they wish to be and if you are rude or a smart "A" back they can have you escorted out!! I can tell you one thing..... if they EVER throw me out of there for something that I have said in my defense..... you can bet your ASprin that they will know why I said what I did. I would refuse to leave until I spoke with management and told them straight up what I thought of their rude employees!! BTW... I am in no way saying that ALL of the EXPO employees are like this... BUT there are several!!!
