15th Region Tournament: Paintsville vs. Belfry
#61
EKY Sportster Wrote::Thumbs: They won't have to admit it! They can just see it for themselves when the two teams start the game!

EXACTLY, This will be a very embarrising regional appearance for Belfry, Maybe they should call in sick, Smile Smile Smile

Yea, I bet they wish they gave the teams sick days like they do the teachers. That way they could all just call in subs. haha

crazyfan4 Wrote:foul trouble? I don't remember them getting in foul trouble. But I do remember Belfry's top player fouling out and Belfry still won. Belfry should be able to hang with Paintsville. All they have to do is slow Slone down, and just let the rest of the players have their averages. I still think Paintsville will win though..

I think Belry just got lucky to be in the regional. Paintsville should have an easy game as long as they dont overlook some teams.

I don't think they will overlook anyone. Their talent combined with great coaching just puts them on a whole nother level than Belfry and this game should be over before it starts.

OMG Wrote:I still think they can beat any team in the 15th even when they are not hitting this year. With of course the exception of SV. I think if they don't shoot good in the Valley game they may be in trouble, but everyone else in the region is not even close to being on the same level as these two schools.

I will definitely agree with that statement. Paintsville should not have any trouble with this game at all.

Does that even qualify you to talk basketball?

Paintsville is and should be the favorite but if Belfry wins I am pulling this ridiculous post up at every opportune moment.

By the way, this just made me a Belfry/Shelby Valley fan.
Do you think anybody cares who you root for,... really? Is that supposed to make a difference?

This has the potential to be a real good game. Especially if the Tigers are looking ahead to Valley. The Pirates could surprise everyone but ill take the Tigers by 12.

I ran into Landon Slone yesterday. I asked him about the Valley game and he said they had to get by Belfry first. I don't think any of em are lookin ahead to playin Shelby Valley. They know what time of year it is and they know that anything can happen.

Yeah that is right. The tiger senoirs are very focused on one game at a time in their last shot. I look for Paintsville to come out very explosive. Justin Murray knows what is like to the win the title and play a Rupp and has let these other Senoirs know that is now or never.

I'll take P-ville in a laugher. Grim and JD will have May talking to himself. He is a great athlete but i think they will get in his head.

Belfry really gonna get beat bad in this.... just not on P-ville level

Yeah, 3 of Paintsvilles starters fouled out last year so theres your foul trouble. Paintsville will finally get off the schnide with an 18 point win over Belfry.

that is probably the smartest thing I have heard you say on here EKY lol jk. I agree 1000000000000000%.

P-Ville will keep it respectable by letting Slone and them rest a lot.

Pour it on Bill Mike..... Belfry will have homecourt advantage since the regional is always at the Expo center...... Tigers by 20.... Shelby Valley should be next

Here is some observations, more talent, no brainer.
But one position Belfryd oes win at is down low with May. If you remember the reason Paintsville got in foul trouble last year is May's strength. He must have a big game, and when I say big I mean huge.
Another key factor is B.K. Farley, Paintsville fans will enjoy watching this guy compete, he is a warrior. He must step up with atleast 25 points, which he has done against good teams this year.
Another key matchup which will be fun will be Jordan Hairston the freshman for Belfry against Bundy, the Hairston kid is really fast and makes some really nice passes.
But I am a realist, on paper Paintsville should win this game, and probably will. But you know they play the game for a reason, I do think this will be a competitive game though I really do. I think it will be around 10 at halftime, and get to about 12-15 by third quarter. I look for Paintsville to win by 17. But it could be closer and it could be worse. I guess we will see.
I really have a lot of respect for both coaches in this game, both are first class guys who are fun to be around.

paintsville's dream team might actually get their 1st regional tournament win

HAHAHA...their "Dream Team" was actually in the middle to late 90's with J.R. VanHoose, Todd Tackett and crew...they were nationally ranked. This is a great group of players, but always seemed to have a let down at the wrong time. Hopefully, they will realize it's their last go-around and play all out for 32 minutes tonight and for 2 more days too and make it to Rupp and send BMR out in style.

May won't be able to stop Grimm so I am not worried about him. P-ville by 15.

You know you may be right, but it was same matchup last season and May dominated that matchup. But who knows, I just think May is way to strong, but Paintsville has speed everywere.
Another factor is the Bill Mike factory, with this being his last season, these guys are going to play so hard to get him to Rupp one last time, and they wont overlook anybody.

How many starting Pirates graduated last year? I watched last year's game and remember two big paint players and a awful good shooter for Belfry.
