Mason County 90 Elliott County 61
#1
I was at the game, Billy G was there in packed house. Mason County played really good, Darius Miller had 29 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks, he is the real deal. Elliott was just not athletic enough to keep up with Mason.
#2
Not really surprised! When EC can't get their 3's in they can't compete. Anyone have any stats??
#3
Wow...Billy G. is a busy man. Coaches against LSU and comes back to Lexington and then heads out to Mason County. Congrats to Mason on the win. I cant wait to see Darius in a UK uniform.

well it makes you wonder about how overrated they are or if mason is just out of everybody's league

They are not overated. Mason is that good and does give them a matchup problem.

Shelby Valley beat Raceland tonight by 12. Elliott County beat Raceland last week by 30 for those that wish to make comparisons. Both of those games were at Raceland.

The KHSAA site says it was at Elliott County.

First of all I agree that Mason County is a great team, but personally I believe that there is no way Elliott County is a top ten team in the state, maybe top 20. They are good but teams like Mason Co., Bryan Station, LexCath, and Scott County are in a whole different league.

matchup problems? a 30 point loss means theres a little more going on than just matchup problems...im not saying elliott is not a good team, they are, but being good in the state, and being good in the mountains is two different things...

look, all im saying is with the exception of the 5/3rd bank tournament elliott hasn't played anybody that is very good around the state...the one team that is halfway descent beat them in rose hill...im just saying that its hard to get a read on how good they really are because of their weak schedule...theres no doubt they'll win the region, because they've proven they can beat those teams, but thats all they've proven they can beat...

i agree...i like how they have the state set up because the mountains have a chance to make it there but thats all...but for the rest of the state they get screwed bc in most cases the top 16 teams dont make it to rupp...if it wasn't for revenue we could split it up into classes like every other state in america does, also in baseball too

Wow, didnt see it being this much of a win for Mason...Congrats Royals.

Congrats Royals on a very impressive victory!

and i also dont understand what the shelby valley score has to do with what im saying?

I figured Mason by around 15..but 29 points? Sure says alot to me! Top 10....I say NO WAY! That is what happens and the difference when you look at the other top teams in the state! Elliott beats up on a VERY WEAK 16th Region and never hardly played out of the region and beats teams like 134-60 and then when they play a good team, look what happens! Congrats Mason!

your right exactly, i dont know what the point was other than that....

If this was a preview of the first round Sweet 16 game then we might as well put the Royals advancing because Elliott County just doesn't have the altletlic abilty or firepower as Mason, who has not only Miller but Russ Meddleton is an outstanding player and Trevor Setty is not bad. Pehps the Royals wants to show Dave Cantell that they are the best team in state, not his love Lex, Catholic. Congrats to coach O'Hearn and the Royals on a great win

Elliott backers, hang in there. This Mason Co. team plays well at home, and this loss is nothing to be ashamed of. Your team has now played one of the best in the state with one of the best players as well. You guys are still young, and your team will get there. They're still young!

Congrats to Mason on a big win.

Congrats to Mason County on the win. I agree about G he is a busy man coaching all the way down in the bayou and then coming back to watch Darius play, a lot of dedication.

Anyone that knows anything about basketball and these teams should know that EC is not a top ten team in the state!! Let's get serious. EC is good and they should win the 16th, but they didn't win the 16th All A?? So who knows? I can say this, depending on how EC shoots the ball determines how well they play. If they drop the 3 in all night they can hang with almost any team. But when the 3's aren't falling (either b/c they are just off or b/c they are not getting good looks) then they are subject to get blown out. End of story. That is how they play!

As for SV, I just think that the poster was making a comparison, in an attempt to boost EC by showing that EC beat Raceland worse than SV. But that is not relevant here, and in any event, SV is much better than EC on most nights. SV just hasn't played as well as they can the last few weeks.

Anyway, EC is probably top 20, but not top 10. There are definitely 10 better teams in the state than EC, not taking anything away from EC.

Mason Co. is a much better team and it showed. EC could have played them closer but wouldn't have beat them anyway!

You gotta throw Eastern In there also.

i completely agree with you...ec is so relying on the 3 that when they play a team who can match them athletically and can stay in their face on defense then they dont have a prayer to beat them...dont get me wrong they have 3 good scorers, but they score good against 16th region opponents...every top 15 team in the state would beat elliott county, imo.....i hate the way they do the rankings, mostly it goes by wins and losses, and i just wish there was some way to factor in strength of schedule....if you go and look at their schedule its by far the worst out of the top ten teams they have listed....not too mention a rose hill loss, which poses the question, will they even make it out of the 16th region?
#25
Wow! thought the score would be a little bit closer! Mason County is the real deal huh?

Yeah, Eastern is tough along with Holmes also.

PhiSlamaJama#12 Wrote:and what does the SV score have to do with Elliot and Mason??? SV got the win and that is all that matters.
The point was that alot of people were going to get on here calling Elliott County overrated. You implied it earlier. It is relevant due to the number of 15th region posters on here. Elliott County beat Raceland at Raceland with ease. It was not even as close as the score. The statement was made because they both played the same team recently on that teams home court. One struggled for a win and one blew that team out of the gym.

Now Elliott County is not a great team. If Elliott County has a bad shooting night and a team can be physical enough to handle their defesive pressure then they are very vulenrable.

There are no great teams in the 16th or 15th regions. Elliott County, as is SV, are good teams in very weak regions.

congrats mason co.
