First off, congrats to SV on a very well coached and disciplined team. They played very hard tonight in a hostile environ. However, I suspect they did not shoot anywhere near their avg. from the field or beyond the arc. Shelby has a very good, balanced team with numerous good players. But they had no answer for the quicks and athleticism of GC point, Thilee Anderson.

Anderson was the difference in the game. Had he picked up another foul (after being blown for his 3rd at the end of the 3rd qtr) GC could have lost this one by 10+ pts. The Devils had no other guard that could negotiate the SV press. But, SV still hasn't stopped Anderson on the drive, and its almost 10:30 pm. All in all, a very fun game to watch. Thanks to Shelby for making the trip. Hope we do it again. Its always fun to watch KY teams play the game the right way.

I'm not one to complain, and I know you are not supposed to bash anyone on here, but I'm going to make an exception. I went to the game tonight and I'm not doing this in SV's favor, but the refs were absolutely horrible. The refs did not concertrate on the game. They wondered about what was going on in the stands, and actually threw a fan out. For no reason as usual. Also Sv didn't play very well either. They had alot of kids sick, tryin to play the game. Which that didn't help the situation either. Well, back to the refs. I've seen alot of games in VA., and this is thw worst called game I have ever seen. They had one ref that acted like MR. Prefect, and enforce every rule that he could think of, and some of them hardly ever gets called. If you know what I mean. Also, I'm actually from VA., but I have family and real close friends that go to SV and other schools in KY., but I really feal embarssed by the way the refs acted, and officated the game tonight. If some you people would've come to the game. You can see why I'm saying this, but something really needs to be done about the officating I've seen lately in both states. Espically in Virginia, it was so bad. It makes me sick. In some game this year i've seen in VA., and KY., the refs hads been so bad, I've actually have come close to getting up and leaving the game. So write or think want you want to about this post or me trying to suck-up for SV. Cause I really don't care, but don't kick me off here. Cause I like posting on here, and reading what you people put on here. God Bless!, each and everyone of you people on here.

Gate City seemed to get stronger as the game went on. The ref's were just as bad on both side of the court.

Oh Yeah! I also forgot to put on my post, that Coach Booher said that he is never going back to the state of VA. to play another basketball game from here on out. Cause of the REFS!

Why on earth SV would want to play Gate City is beyond me anyway? Been through that place a few times and don't know why anyone from KY would bother with the trip, just to play Gate City. If a team wants to go out of state, they might as well go on to Tennessee and play a team at a nice place!

As for the refs, didn't see this game and wouldn't have wanted to, but the refs are bad everywhere anyway so .....? Sounds like SV just had a bad night, but weren't helped by the refs or the hostile environment of Gate City's gym. Anyway, SV beat them here so they are even for whatever that is worth.

SV just got out played by GC. The ref's were just as bad on both sides of the court. SV played good but seemed a little winded due to the high pressure defense GC provided.

Here we go again. If SV gets beat and a couple of fans complain or make excuses, we have to hear it from others. There are fans from every team who claim they got cheated . . no matter what. Every team has them, including Pikeville. It's not just SV!

They get beat by a Virginia team, Booher says he wont go back there to play again. They get beat by Pikeville in the All A and Booher wont let Roger Fairchild ref at Shelby Valley anymore. Are the not going back to New York or any other place they lose at?

I didn't go to the game, but I'm guessing that Gate City was a physical team that probably intimidated SV from the start. I think this is the best way to beat a very basketball talented SV team.

Seriously though, why in the world would SV being playing a 2 game series with Gate City anyway?? Oh well, it doesn't matter to me, but I wouldn't get on here and complain about it though. It isn't like it counts for anything anyway.

Because Gate City has a nice team and Shelby Valley wanted to "up" their schedule this year. Gate City has better athletes than you typically sees in 15th region teams. Also, playing a good physical team on the road should help Valley down the stretch. Valley beat them by 23 at home, but I figured it would go a little differently over there...

He could have just scheduled a weak team in Jenkins like Pikeville did and not have to worry about it...

I just think it is funny that they lose two games and they are not going to allow one ref to ref anymore and even blackball a whole state. Dont you think that sounds funny?

The article says that SV is rated in the top 15 in the state. What poll are they looking at?? They haven't been close to being ranked since they got spanked out of the All A. Also, who is the Jacob Robinson that scored 15 for SV in the boxscore. Last thing, it's time for the Newsome kid to get more minutes. He needs to start over the little guard that isn't playing team ball.

Yes, that does sound funny, but consider your sources. Rumors go a long way. He didn't say anything in the article about the refereeing last night. He just said they got beat.
