Fairview hands the reins to McPeek

WESTWOOD — Nathan McPeek knows what it takes to be successful on the football field.

A standout offensive lineman on several bowl and conference-winning teams at Marshall University, McPeek is the new head football coach at Fairview High School.

Fairview’s site-based council voted last week and the school board approved the measure this week.

McPeek, 25, served as associate head coach and offensive coordinator last season for the Eagles. He takes over for Rex Cooksey, who resigned after guiding Fairview to a 6-5 record and Class A playoff appearance last season.

Cooksey, also Fairview’s athletic director and head basketball coach, recommended McPeek for the coaching position.

Now, McPeek’s first high school head-coaching job is a reality.

I expected this to happen after they ran the last coach out of there. Nate will make a good one I just hate the way he had to get the job.
