Paintsville-72 Pikeville-69 (2OT) - 15th Region All "A" Classic
#1
Congrats Tigers
#2
Fun game to listen too, thought that Pikeville just shot themselves in the foot in the second half with over 20 turnovers. Thought that Bill Mike Runyon made a horrible call in the 1st overtime for Landon to hold the ball for 1:45 when the Tigers had a major advantage after three Pikeville starters had fouled out... Congrats Tigers!

Good luck in Richmond!

Great game!!!! I thought Pikeville had it but the Tigers managed to come from behind and pull out a hard fought win.
#4
Hmm, didn't last time Paintsville won the All A Valley won Region?

Congrats Tigers, good game Panthers, even with 3 players out you gave it ****.
#5
Individual stats... heck they flew through the games stats...
Pikeville played a great game...
Paintsville was not sharp... but played well enough.
Congrats to both.

Paintsville Tigers
Murray- 13pts
Slone- 29pts
Grimm- 8pts
VanHoose 9pts
Bundy- 12pts
Pack- 1pts

Pikeville Panthers

Pikeville had too many TO's in the 2nd half.

Congratulations guys. And congrats to Pikeville on an outstanding tourney, taking down one major player and running another to the very end. Gives us all alot more to look foward to in the Districts/Regions, instead of counting down to the Valley/Tiger matchup.

Congrats Tigers and good luck in Richmond. Have to give props to the Panthers, they played a great game and a great tournament.

Great Game--Great Atmosphere--What more can be said???

Pikeville killed themselves in this one. They starting playing not to lose and they lost.
#11
In my opion Refs should have to watch a tape of the games they call, be graded and then look in the eyes of the kids they wrong.

Pikeville killed themselves in this one. They started playing not to lose instead of going in for the kill. Great gme and great atmosphere. Let this be a note to all the 15th region is not a two horse race!

After watching the game from the 11th row, give credit to Pikeville in stragety, Williams had a good game plan, he got the ball to his better players in the clutch and gave them a chance to win the game.

Slone despite scoring 29 points, "manufactured" a lot of his points, example, giving the ball up in the first overtime and not even having a shot to win it for Paintsville, Vanhoose missed a 3 despite Slone one of the states leading field goal percentage shooters not having a shot to win it. So, what does the kid do, rebounded the missed shot and scored off a tough shot at the buzzer.

Good luck to Paintsville in the All A at Richmond, yet, if Slone could have as many opportunities to score as much as other designated players from other teams, Slone would have had 50, and we all would be talking about one of the better performances in the 15th All A.

Maybe I'm naive, but it seems every team that loses says this. It is 3 humans out there and I don't think any of them set out to "take" the game. They're trying to watch 10 players (some of which are sneaky) 2 head coaches and then they have to deal with all the other distractions,

Did they miss some calls? IMO Yes! Did it hurt one team or the other? Maybe! But in the end, you have to play the game the way it is called.

Email the KHSAA, get an application, put on the stripes and whistle, and see how hard it really is.

Both teams played hard tonight. They are both to be congratulated.

Both coaching staffs worked their butts off! They too, are to be congratulated.

Good Luck Paintsville next week! Good luck Panthers during the remainder of your season! Oh yeah--there are still more games!!

WELL put UK.

Clevinger had one heck of a game! He and all the Panthers played a great game considering that they knocked off Valley the night before and played a double OT game tonight against at very good Paintsville. They have NOTHING to be ashamed of and this should prove PIKEVILLE IS FOR REAL! Congrats Tigers and good luck.

So are you saying the calls favored the Tigers ? To be blunt the Tigers just wanted this game more than the Panthers. I mean they come back from being 13 down, gotta give them some credit. I think if Pikeville would have attacked more they would be making the trip to Richmond next week. They should have attacked the basket more instead of holding the ball. The same goes for the Tigers in the first overtime, they held the ball for almost two minutes and took a very bad shot. I think Coach Runyon should have attacked them considering they had already lost two key players, one being their big man.

Are you serious? Pikeville was the huge underdog and almost come out with their second upset in a row to a team with 6 senoirs and you think they didn't want it? That would be the last reason Paintsville won. Pikeville played a great game until the last two minutes and then they choked.

Well yeah I'm serious. Paintsville won didn't they ? That's usually how it goes. I'm not saying Pikeville didn't want it. Where did you get that I said that ?

CHOKED? I don't think so! Like I pointed out in the previous post, they were worn out from the Valley game and a double OT without Adams or Honaker. No doubt they wanted it. Remember, Paintsville had a VERY easy game the night before and Pikeville knocked off Valley. I don't think CHOKED is the word you are looking for.

Well to say that an extreme underdog goes that far and barely loses that the whatever it was (20) point favorite wanted it more. It doesn't make sense to me. But congrats to Paintsville they simply OUTPLAYED Pikeville the last two minutes.

Well they had a decently big lead for 2-3 minutes to go. That is when you need to secure the game and not lose it. They played not to lose and it cost them.

I meant no offense to the post. I just was simple stating that Paintsville came back from 13 points down. Pikeville played a great game tonight and I think they would have represented the 15th well also.[/COLOR]

What I meant was that just because you win doesn't mean you wanted it more. A superior team doesn't have to want it as bad as an inferior team to win it. Not saying that was the case with these two teams but that's not always how it goes.

I completely agree with ya on that. Pikeville definitely played their hearts out the whole tournament.

Alright, this may be semantics, but in no way is Pikeville an inferior team!!!! Tonight, when all was said and done, Paintsville was better as evidenced by the final score. But....Pikeville was and is, NOT inferior.

Congrats Tigers!! Very exciting game to listen to. Good luck next week!

Lol that's why I said that wasn't neccesarily the case with these teams tonight.

i think that both teams played great but the Tigers came out on top Clevager played great for pikeville but You had Honaker, Bell , and Adams foul out you can't have that with that team the tigers in the 2nd overtime had thier starting 5 so congarats to both teams and goodluck Tigers at the All "A" in Richmond

This was a great game. Paintsville really turned it up on D in the last quarter. As a result Pikeville made way too many TO's and it cost them. Slone made a great play at the end of regulation to put the game into OT. If Pikeville makes another FT at the end of the 4th with 10 secs to go they maybe win. Pikeville had to play short handed w/o Adams and Honaker in OT. The Tigers held the ball for the last 2 minutes of OT while Pikeville laid back in a 2/3. Paintsville was finaly able to take advantage of Pikeville playing short handed in the 2nd OT and put it away.
