Well, they might be average to the other Breathitt. And I agree 100%. IMO the best was with Justin Haddix leading them. But comparing them to this year, they were pretty good. What was their final record this year?

Don't play me for a fool. In my opinion the best team was with Chapman, Sharp, Combs, Raider, that bunch. And to me they couldn't have handled the team in 89 when they got beat out by Belfry.

I know what you are getting at. And more coaches should do that. Shedule tougher teams to get ready for the long run. But, what if you schedule tougher teams, and you can't win?

Estill did win a playoff game this year if I'm not mistaken quite convincingly against a Cawood team that lost to Breathitt 30-24. Cawood also had beaten a good Cumberland team this year.

This year was not a playoff game, it was the district, new ballgame, you have to win your district to get to the playoff, you can call it playoffs if you want. Cawood was not very good at all. So they beat rival Cumberland, good win for them. There is no ax to grind, the truth is the truth. I can promise you Breathitt's football team is not stronger than Estill's. They are however more aggressive and disciplined and play a lot tougher schedule. If this offends you......that's life. Don't say your neutral, if you were you would not chip in. Estill's previous coaches have not kept pace the last two years. Everyone else is getting better or staying the same with an occassional down year, while we lower our schedule. That tough Cawood team beat Powell barely at Cawood, so that is not a feat.

Actually Cawood lost 34-20. The score wasn't that close. If I am not mistaken Breathitt had a 34-0 or 34-6 lead before they played the JV/Fresh. Breathitt absolutely destroyed everyone in the district.

Can we get back to Powell Co. since this is the thread? I think they did a good job this year in winning three games, they won 1 the year before and were only close in a coupe. They have a chance to get better every year if the people (parents, admin., etc) will leave the coach alone and let him do what he needs to do. It takes a lot of time and patience to build a program along with discipline.

The KHSAA calls it a "playoff". In your angry , jealous little world of bashing you may be Tom Landry and have all of the answers BUT in the real world where kids,coaches and fans dwell there are ups and downs. Cawood is a very talented team. Breathitt is a good team. Powell County is a team that has weapons to "shut up" alot of "nay sayers." The scheduling that Estill had this year was a result of the classification change and the fact that a couple of the team thought we would be an easy win but found out different. We never looked at a team this year and thought that we had the game in the bag. A true competitor would never do that. If you could just show up and win then everyone would want to play football. It's a sport that takes a certain type of person to play and for you to demean the Estill program and the teams we played this year is just ignorant! Breathitt is a good team and I don't think that they overlooked anyone this year either.
If you are eligable to play then come out play and learn something about this sport. If you are a spectator then come to our practice and watch. If you are a coach calls us up and let's scrimmage or play. I'm sure Coach Jones would accomodate you for any of these scenarios!
