Central fans in general were so rude
I saw quite a bit of this. What a shame!

No one! They will be ready next year. I tell you what I'm sick of...hearing negative comments about Belfry from fans/players from other teams in eastern KY. I can't figure out how people think it's ok to degrade a team that was able to accomplish so much...especially those players from other teams (who, by the way, were watching from the stands..lol). Belfry has alot to be proud of! I think other "mountain people" should have supported Belfry more, as we were representing eastern KY! Belfry has a spirit that many fans from other schools will never understand. Jealousy is such an ugly color! :lmao:

I think we'll go undefeated again, in the regular season.
Update, dunno if it's been posted, Roid tore his ACL.

Belfry has great tradition but they are not on a pedestal above the rest. They are a very good football program that puts a quality team on the field almost every year. To say that the rest of EKY can't compete is what is assinine. Thats not jealousy. Thats the truth. Spirit is one thing but arrogance is another. If the players feel that they will simply "mow over" everybody as was stated earlier in this thread, then I would venture to say they will not accomplish their goals. I don't think most feel that way though. Thing is some Belfry fans remind me of some Russell fans. They think their team can't lose. That is wrong.

Calm down now...Belfry NEVER takes Russell lightly! :devilflam Those Devils always give us a run for our money! After all, who came to CAM and beat us? That's something that these boys will not forget! As for Breathitt, Sheldon Clark, and even Johnson Central, we know that they will be out for BLOOD! They do not want to give us another perfect season. Rest assured even with talent, these boys are going to be hard at work for next year. They are HUNGRY! My son is a freshman and is ready to get started back! He was bummed because they are giving them a break until after Christmas. I can't wait until next year either! I am sure that "MY PIRATES" have their work cut out for them! By the way...Happy Holidays everyone!

Was that necessary? Belfry has always had a quality football team!

Central05 Wrote:It will be the same ole same ole with Belfry.
They will mow over teams around here like little yard gnomes until they reach Louisville.
When they get there anything could happen.
I was extremely disappointed to see them lose at state.
Belfry isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Granted, mostly everyone will be back and so will Russell. the diference is that we did not play.. We match up better than Breathitt to belfry and I think we could have given you guys a closer game. Yea I know.......Breathitt beat us but it is true what FBALL said.. we dont think we can loose but going into this past season Russell was down and rebuilding. They made it farther than I thoght they would and I am longing for the next season.
Belfry will be fine and I forsee a match-up next year... then again I may be wrong...

The big thing about Belfry, they went 14-1 with a team that had only 11 seniors, so mainly a young team, experience is key.

Maybe this year will be the year for the Belfry.

blackcat_student Wrote:What will there schedule look like?
I browsed the khsaa and clicked on the scoreboard then changed the link from 07 to 08. Belfry has a full schedule loaded and it is the same as last year's except replace Corbin w/ Lou. Holy Cross and all the home and away games are reversed.
Belfry should go 10-0 in the regular season, worst case 8-2.

The hardest spots to replace will be the DLine for Belfry. I'm sure some boys will step up, but it's hard to replace linemen like Phil and Corey (the only time they faced a line that could block them consistently was Central...). There's a DE spot open, and probably a safety spot up for grabs (Timmy, Thomas, and Drew will be back there, I see Tim & Drew at CB).
Offensively, they'll replace Maydo with Thomas Varney, Timmy will probably transition to WR and bounce around in the backfield (that's what I'd do anyway, he's athletic enough to handle it, reminds me a lot of Matt Maynard, who did the same thing). Otherwise the only other spots that will need replaced are the 2nd TE and an offensive lineman, but they are returning 6? linemen who started at one point or another throughout last year.
There's some great kids who are about to graduate who played their last game at Papa John's, but there's even more who have a season or two under them now, and who will be hungry and angry.

Corey Coleman was only a Junior and should be back I thought?

Spring strength testing is going on right now at Belfry and Coach Mickey seemed to have a really big smile on his face. Things must be lookin' good in that weight room!!

There are quite a few 8th graders who are moving up that are taking part in the weight training. Hopefully this will help out when it comes time to play JV (Freshman) next year!
