#7
The Shamrocks
#8
lol the shamrocks for sure
#9
Trinity is but who won the game tonight between the and ST.X ?
#10
They didn't play tonight. St. X played Ballard and Trinity started the season with an open week.
#11
I'm going to say Highlands. Defeated Male easily in a pre-season contest and then man-handled Ryle tonight. Male is no slouch, all kinds of athleticism in the skill positions and the line is very big which helped them notch a 50-7 win tonight. On a side note, Male has the best Under Armour uniforms I've ever seen. St. X won their game on their tonight scoring the last TD of the game, defeating PRP like 18-14.

I watched Ryle play Highlands this past weekend. Ryle as most know made it to the 4A state championship game last year where they were defeated easily by Trinity. In spite of graduating two of their better players, a lot of Ryle supporters that I was talking to before the game felt that Ryle's team would be better this year. Unfortunately for them, they got pasted by Highlands and scored 14 of their 21 points after Highlands started liberally substituting. Highlands is going to be very, very good this year. At this point they have to be in the running for best team in Ky. They are small on the line by Trinity standards, but are extremely quick and well coached. Their qb, not sure of his name, is quick and ran and passed the ball very well. Their running back, Conner, has really good speed. Not real shifty (at 6'0 195 doesn't need to be). What really impressed me about Highlands was their linebacker play. When they first lined up I expected Ryle to be able to run the ball right down their throat, as Ryle's O line is huge and looked pretty mobile. Except for one drive however, Ryle couldn't move the ball against Highlands starters. When Highlands lined up at the start of the game, I wasn't impressed. After things got going, I was very impressed. I'm sure JC won't over look them if they meet in the playoffs, but if they do, they'll be in real trouble. I've got to admit Highlands had one of the most impressive all around teams I've seen in a long, long time time. By the way, their kicker hit the endzone almost every, if not every kickoff, and their punter got off good ones the few times they punted. Unfortunately, I didn't see one weakness other than they play a bunch of kids both ways. Might hurt them in a match up with Trinity, although I was told by a Highlands fan after the game that they pretty much whipped up on Male last week in a scrimmage game. If Male's for real (and they won big this past weekend), I can't imagine Trinity being much if any better than that Highlands team.

I agree. St. X struggled with PRP during the debut of their first actual home game, because up until this year they shared a field with Dupont Manual. Highlands biggest test comes this week against Trotwood Madison, this team is loaded with D-1 talent. Here are some of the commitments they have so far and many other kids are getting strong looks from other Major D-1 schools:
CLASS OF 2008

Brandon Moore -University of Michigan
Roy Roundtree - Purdue University
Domonick Britt - University of Cincinnati
Doug Rippy - University of Nebraska

Mercer County is a good team i would like to see them play better teams than they play

But Mercer is nowhere near the top of the heap in the state. Mercer was a dominant team in AA last year but they will more than likely be average or a bit above this year playing in 5A.

We'll just have to wait and see

I agree about the wait and see part. All I know is that last year with the 2 stud running backs and all that team speed that could only muster 15 points against Russell and Russell is far from being the top team in the state.
#26
trinty but i think there are some teams out there on a good night could upset them
#27
i know madison central has played good in their two games. i dont know if they would be the best team, but they have been impressive so far.

If you ever get to see a Trinity vs. St. X game...you'll be amazed. It looks like a JUCO game...I have never saw a crowd like that for a HS Football game...it was awesome

I went last year and the amount of players for each team is rediculous. They were each at the 45, backed all the way to the goal line and had about 12-13 kids in each line. The crowd wasn't around what I was expecting though, they maybe had about 20,000 give or take. I showed up about 2 hours before kickoff to make sure I had a place to sit and there was plenty of seating left at the start of the game. As for my pick on best team in Kentucky, Highlands defeated Trotwood-Madison 24-20. They seem to have solidified their spot after defeating Trotwood because Trotwood has 5 major D-1 players already committed with about 10 other D-1 caliber players.
