Freshmen shouldn't really worry about bench press. Back when I was a Freshman in HS I was 6'1 190 lbs. I benched 250. The thing I was worried more about was squats. I could squat about 300 and deadlift over 400. Legs is where it is at kids, I promise you that. When I was getting looked at by schools the only thing they really looked at strength wise were the legs and cleans. I know most of you may not like to do them, but it will make you run faster, hit harder, and prevent you from wearing down or getting pushed around. As I grew older I got stronger in the upper body.

I wish I could still squat.. My fresh year, i squatted 325, by my senior year i got it up to 410, but I hurt my knees and haven't been able to do much since then.

You need to be doing more than that Blankenship, people littler than you are gettin alot more than that.
03-15-2005, 12:59 PM
Like who??? i haven't seen little people get more than 135 on power cleans

Clean is all about technique. If u have bad technique, your max wont be quite as much as you wanted.

But I don't have it.

That 180lb squat isn't that good considering the Quarterback at Valley is a 140lb Freshman and is squatting a little over 300lb.
03-16-2005, 11:09 PM
who is the qb at Valley.
03-16-2005, 11:11 PM
As of right now the Starting Quarterback for Shelby Valley is Freshman Tyler Johnson...he will be a Sophmore next season...hes is 5'10 about 145lb.

yeah that 180 squat needs to go up bad..ratliff will take care of that though.
