What are everyones thoughts and how will the new alignment effect the traditonal powers? This includes the entire state so lets not forget some of the best tems out west.

I dont know about the west, but you'll have to put RUSSELL and BELFRY the top two,but this year unlike years in the past you will not see these two teams in the STATE SEMI-FINALS they will play a week earlier...and RUSSELL will have to travel to Belfry this year:confused: but RUSSELL will still host STATE SEMIS, if both get that far that is.Good luck to all

Breathitt will be able to score on anyone, but they will have to stop their opponant alot more than they have lately to be able to compete for the title in '07.

That's showing alot of confidence in an Engineer team that had a 3-7 team in 2006?
What makes you think they will have a "breakout" year in the 2007 campaign?

The first qtr last year against Russell they dominated the line of scrimmage from the offensive side against a defense that held Belfry to zero in a shut out. Total time of possession was 9:15 of the whole 1st qtr. Their double wing style of play reminds me of Belfry and the Ironton/Bob Lutz play. They are my sleeper just as Sheldon Clark was pre-season last year.

I heard someone say that that's about as mad as they've seen Coach McGlone in quite a while. They sure came out with a sense of purpose in the second half I bet. I would say that part of it was the Red Devils were taking the Neers lightly, but that's still pretty impressive to rack that up kind of yardage and time of posession on a state championship caliber team such as Russell. Estill's staff and players seem to really buy into the system. Hopefully success this year will breed success for the years to come. They still seem to have a numbers problem hopefully a few W's will cure that and help push them up to the next level.

^The Russell coaching staff was not pleased to say the least.
Estill Co does have some young players that are strong. If they can develope some depth they should have a decent team. That double wing can give teams fits.

We'll have to wait and see. Last year they started 7 to 8 sophmores, which means they pretty much have everyone back for this year and ALSO NEXT YEAR. One would think that there will be some improvement. Could be interesting this year. That's why we play em'

Russell has to be the pre-season favorite just because they are the only team that was in the finals last year.

powell county will definately be making some noise in the 3a. watch and see
06-26-2007, 06:13 AM
Oh I'll watch.....and see them get beat by some of the worst teams in the state. If you can't beat EKY worst teams then what makes you think that you are going to be top ten this year. This isn't who to watch for anyway. It is Top Ten Preseason Poll AAA 2007. Read post 20 if you want to find out where Powell Co will fall in 2007.

guys, idk if russell will have a good year or not cause they dont have kasey no more. belfrey really hasnt had a good year since they lost david jones. fleming will have a slim chance because they have an awesome passing attack. even though russell lost kasey, i think russell and belfrey has the best shot at it. powell doesnt even stand a chance. they cant even beat morgan county, they will be fun to watch. not that theyre good, jus to joke around and stuff.
