15th Region Outlook...07-08

NEXT Wrote:FunnySmile

I'll put it like this -
If this team doesn't beat some top 25 teams the next 3 years, as well as win at least 3 games in the state tourney(barring transfers, catastrophic injuries, and horrible draws) then something is horribly wrong, so I'll let you guys figure that one out on your own.

I'll assume by the other thread you started that you are implying that the head man is to blame. I don't really have an opinion on that. I guess I never really thought he was really awesome or really bad. He seems to be doing about as well as the previous coach did in his last few years (usually win the region, doesn't fare as well against downstate teams).

I think that SV and Elliott were fairly close in terms of talent, and that SV had about a 50/50 shot to win the game this year, but I don't think I would go so far as to say that they should have won. That said, unless the 15th gets some favorable draws in the next few years, like maybe the 1st or 12th, it is pretty unlikely that they will win many games down at state.

Not necessarily. That is on the STAFF as a WHOLE

OK. I have no opinion on that either. It seems that he, like most coaches, has his share of those who think he does a great job and those who think he doesn't. I've heard both from people this year.

In three years, he has won the region twice, runner up once by 3 points. How can it be justified that the coaching staff is to blame?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

I'm not blaming Booher. Read carefully and think a little bit.

I think SV is 2 things away from winning games at Rupp and beating TOP teams from Lexington and Louisville. One is a 6'3"-6'6" bruiser, and I think that will come. The other, I think everyone here knows that one.

He has all the physical tools to be this player but does he have it mentally? I do not mean this in a negative way. What I am saying he is such a good polite kid he may be to nice to feel this role. At this point he is to unselfish on the floor to assume a role like this. Maybe this will come as he matures. To play the 3 he will also need a more consistent J, better ballhandling & quicker feet but he does have the potential to develop all three of these. I sure hope so, the sky is the limit if he does. IMO he has the potential to be the best player in the 15th for the next 3 years.

I agree. 2 players away. Elisha Justice is a great ball handler and playmaker, doesn't like to shoot the ball. Need a two guard that can consistantly knock down shots and be a floor leader with scoring. The other piece is a center, a big man to alter shoots on defense, pack the middle on offense, free up the outside shooters for threes. Find these two players and they are untouchable in 15th, will actually be able to compete in state and win a few games.

I dont know about Belfry being number 2, they are losing the best player in the region this year. Allen Central will be a above average team, but if I can remember right, they are losing a few key players also.

Well I don't know about you guys, but Johnson Central will be alright. I noticed that Jamie McCarty caused alot of problems with the players and they talked about how hard it was to play with him and now that he is gone they will play together as a team and will be capable of beating anyone next year. I would watch out for those Eagles.

IMO I think Elisha Justice can lead this team and become the playmaker and their scorer...JMO...Also Hatfield needs to hit the weights hard and put on some muscle then SV will be an excellent team.

Well if the tigers from Paintsville can get it together and keep it together they should be in the finals playing Shelby valley. I honestly think that the The tigers can do it this coming yr. The cats from Valley will be tough tho. Look forward to the 07/08 season.
#43
it will be valley and pikeville in the chip and pikevilel will lose grip with about 3 min. to go.
#44
1. Shelby Valley (District Champs, Regional runner-up)
2. Paintsville (District Champs, Region Champs)
3. Pikeville (District runner-up, depending on the draw will determine how far they go)
4. Allen Central (District Champs, same as Pikeville)
5. Phelps (District Champs, get beat first round)
6. Johnson Central- When McCarty wasn't playing they looked decent. They could be a good team next year.
7. Belfry- When Case didn't play they were horrible! They will probably be district runner-up but will get beat in first round.
8. Lawerence County- I have info so I'm only guessing
9. Pike Central- Hawks are well coached but no key players except for Hamilton and Slone.
10. Sheldon Clark, Betsy Lane, South Floyd, Magoffin Co, etc.
#45
Pikeville Loses 2 But Only 1 Starter. We Gain Ted Honaker Back. All We Can Do Is Just Wait.
#46
I predict another losing season for East Ridge.
#47
Im going to say Paintsville. Even though year in and year out they are predicted to win it and always seem to never quite get there....IF and thats a big ole if they can pill it together I think they COULD win it all
#48
Will the region tourny still be at the expo this year?
#49
of course....the expo is going to hold the regional tournament for many many years to come....It brings good attendance and a great atmosphere...We would be stupid not to have it there
#50
I would just about guarantee that they will play at the Expo Center.
#51
1. Valley
2. Pikeville
