Did we do that to you all one year or was it the other way around? I wish the PC-Pikeville Rivalry would pick back up.

Amen....

As did we when Pikeville went up.

A mutual respect is required in any good rivalry.... not sore winners AND sore losers.... what is the point of being a poor winner? you've already won where it mattered, why not show some respect and applaud a team you just defeated in a hard fought game?
03-11-2007, 01:48 AM
I know everybody's upset.... you can tell that by the thread... but can we please just bury this "pep section rivalry" between sv and all the other schools in the 15th region???? the tourney is over... every team has played their hearts out.... and valley has won. yeah, i'm in the blue crew... and I apologize if it hurt any of the members of the pikeville basketball team because they all played like champs.. but you have to understand that we were in the heat of the moment.. and we had just realized we were going to state. that is what "pep sections" are all about, after all.. cheering for your team and hoping for a victory. i'm not saying that it was the best thing in the world to do... I'm just asking you to cut us some slack.. we're high school kids and we're doing the best we can.
so, in summation, the 15th region is over.. and so are the 15th region "pep section rivalries" until next season.

I agree.... however, when you do hurtful things, you should learn to deal with people's hurt feelings good job to both pep sections and good luck down the road!

No you don't, that's completely classless. You stand and applaud the other team for the effort they put forth and for the success they had over the season. That's what you do when you have class. If you did do that after the game, that's pathetic. Grow up!

When the all tournament team was announced we stood up when it got to Pikeville's players, though two of them are from the virgie area, we showed a lot of class to them, just we like to get a little crazy, sorry if any feelings were hurt.

Do it in a classy way. If people always say you all have no class, then why prove them right just to spite them. You act like it's a reason to be classless. " Everybody already thinks we are, so why not be". That's just kids and fans being immature. It's all immaturaty.

I can understand what you're saying, but there is nothing to get over.... school sports should teach kids how to win, lose, and interact with people in general.... IMO

If you aren't trying to "down" a player or anyone, you have a funny way of showing it. I'm from Russell, I wasn't even at the game but I've already heard about what you all did. It's made a few people upset down there if it gets to my ears. I'd suggest trying to change everyone view of your fans. Act like you've been there before. Show humility to a group of kids who may have just played their final organized basketball game ever in their lives. That is a fans way of giving back to the game. A fans way of saying thank you for bringing me great enjoyment for the past 2 hours. That's how you say thanks, by showing class to your opponent.
03-11-2007, 02:12 AM
Kids just get caught up in the excitement and I think it's directed more at the fans than the players. Sometimes they get out of hand and Valley's aren't the only ones guilty of this. I have seen Pikeville's fans do some really mean things in the past and I'm sure if they were on the winning side of things tonight it would be no different. Could it be that Valley's fans were hard on Pikeville's players tonight because 2 of Pikeville's players live in the Valley district? Maybe they should reconsider and come back to Valley.

I'm gonna jump in the middle of this just for a sec. From what i saw there were a couple of Pikeville players who didn't wanna shake hands with the players from Valley. Thats the reason why the pep-section started the chant sore losers and it just happened to be when Pikeville went up to get there 2nd place trophy. I know it wasn't the right thing to do, but it just happened. All in all its over no use crying over it. Both teams came out and played there hearts out tonight thats all that really counts. Good luck Valley at RUPP! Good season goes out to Pikeville, no reason to hang your heads.

That's not the case at all. Most fans and show class to their opponent after a game and especially after a regional championship. Most fans respect the other team and their accomplishment in getting to the regional championship. I think you'll realize that when you get a bitt older. Right now I think you're it that " I hate " a school mentality that happens while in HS but you'll definately grow out of it and realize a few things.

class or no class, what does it seriously matter? the game is over with-the regional tournament is over with. it's done. end of story.
it's all about competition, it's all about school spirit, and it's all about excitement. i myself no longer have a voice, due to the amount of screaming i did tonight.
i just honestly don't understand why people make such a big deal out of what group of KIDS showed RESPECT to their opponents in a championship game!!!

First of all let me point out im NOT a member of the"BLUE CREW". Yea i'll admit I have Gave the "BLUE CREW" alot of crap this year dogging them. Yea there KINDA unclassey and worse than most teams, But I know and have heard other schools say UNCLASSEY things as well! We all have our moments when we get to in to the game and just say stuff before we think! Like for instance when Shelby Valley played PC I remember the "PC "O" CREW" telling valley to start there tractors at the end of the game.I think you all should have shown a little more respect to Pikeville though, you already beat them! didn't you see #24 and 2 others laying on the floor and wouldnt get up? The already felt like Sh!t anyways. But I did hear the "BLUE CREW" clap for the Boys who made all tournament! so THUMBS UP ON THAT!

Respecting your rival is the right thing to do - you will just get everyone in the region to hate you when you show no class or respest.
Take notes on the Belfry Pikeville football rivalry. Both teams have the utmost respect for each other and each others programs and Belfry never shoved it in our faces (too hard) that they have a 6 year streak. We cheer for each other when we are no playing, something I will probably never do for Valley.

Haha it was one of the 2, but either way Valleys pep section shouldn't have chanted sore losers while they were getting there trophy.
