Magoffin County 73 Paintsville 71 (Overtime)
stinger Wrote:Very true. The way they were calling this game I held my breath after the shot went in waiting for the whistle to blow. And by the way how do you call a walk on someone thats coming down with the rebound like they did on Clay?

Are u sure ur not talking about when they called the walk on Dustin Minix? I think they called a walk on him when he pulled down a board
Some scores for both teams:

Paintsville:
Landon Slone - 26 pts 10-13 FT
JD Vanhoose - 11pts
Shane Grimm - 13pts
Van Fergeson(sp?) - 18pts 3 3pt baskets
Blake Bundy - 3pts

Magoffin:
Eric Arnett - 22pts 4 3pt baskets 2-3 FT
Nathan Arnett - 10pts (fouled out)
Tyler Hunley - 6pts (fouled out)
Devin Rice - 13pts 5-5 FT
Stephen Lemaster - 8pts
Phillip Francis - 5pts
Dustin Minix - 2pts
Clay Fletcher - 7pts
I watched the Magoffin vs. JC game earlier in the season and thought that Arnett is probably one of the best , if not the best 3-pt shooter in the region. Glad to see he had a strong game last night. Best of luck to both in the region.
hornetfan Wrote:Even Paintsvilles announcers said Tyler Hunley was one of the best ball handlers in the 15th region, how did Bundy do? Was he important? You are a joke redneck. Grow up!!!

I never said he wasn't a good ball player, I just said his replacement did just as good as he did.
It might have been Dustin. It was so crazy in there, and especialy after that call I might have got them mixed up.I just know it was a sorry call.
Paintsville was either over rated a few years ago or they just have not improved,,which is it?

I question Paintsville a lot. Sometimes they show they are a top team in the state and other times lose games they shouldn't. Every since these guys were freshman they have been the regional favorite. This is not the team that almost upset South Laurel. But you can't say Paintsville didn't played a good game (tonight) because they played a good game.
You tell us???
Have they had bad games...yes
have they had great games...yes
Can they be beaten...Yes
can They win the region...Yes
They are still young and talented, time will tell.
If they get it together this year and win the region, will it get the monkey off their backs?
If they don't this year, but win it next year would they be a disappointment?
I will answer the next one.
If they never get out of the region this year or next year, then they will probably go down as the biggest disappointment in PHS history. Yes, most likely.
Now....how would the rest of the region teams like to have that kind of pressure???
You can say what you want about these young men, but they have more pressure than anyone on them, so what ever you have to say, won't faze them!
Go Big Blue!
Guru, I dont agree with the "They are still young and talented" part of your quote. That has been said about them for 3 years now. Their freshman year, yes, that could have been said. Sophmore year, maybe. I dont think it is an excuse for Juniors though. They have played for three years together now. Time to just use the other statements. They make more sense than the young one.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Agreed. Juniors are not young.
Redneck Wrote:First off, that's how Paintsville warms up for every ball game. Second, the boys that replaced TWO (I did say two the first time around, not three) of the starters played just as good. All I was sayin was Hunley and Fletcher didn't do anything that impressive, the boys that came in for them were just as good if not better, especially on the defensive side.

Well, Paintsville did come into the game a little cocky. And Hunley and Fletcher were very impressive during the game, the boys played their hearts out and they earned their title! We made school history, two district titles in the same year! GOOD LUCK AT REGIONALS MC!

I didn't say that they were not a veteran team. IMO, if next year, you return 7 of your top 9 players and four are starters, then you have a young team.
Fellas i dont care who plays who, or how long they have played together, etc. They are still kids and as far as I am concerned as long as they play %110 and leave it all out there on the floor and give their best they will never be a dissappointment to me.They are still kids with a long future ahead of them no matter what they do.Hell their is always next year!!!

Very true, i mean who calls a walk when you come down with a rebound, last time i read the rules everyone has the right to get a rebound and come back down with it!

Of course it was. It seems to me that all of these other counties are quick to throw out jokes and unappropriate remarks towards Magoffin County but they must easily forget where they are located. We are ALL located in Eastern Kentucky and IMO these other counties have no room whatsoever to say ANYTHING disrespectful towards Magoffin. People outside of this area perceive the entire region, not just Magoffin, as a bunch of dumb hicks who live in the mountains. With that said, show some class and act like adults.
This game is now 26 hours behind us. Magoffin played a great game as did Paintsville. They played what is probably the best game the 15th has saw all year. Congrats to BOTH and look forward to seeing BOTH in Pikeville next week. Let's move on. Bring us another win Wednesday Magoffin. One game at a time boys.

True Lawrence. They forget that I can take them to just as many households in Johnson that depend on that same check every month. We are all in the same Appalachia.

I agree! our boys have heart and I have faith that we can continue on winning if they play with the heart they played with last night! BUT AS FOR PAINTSVILLE, WELL YA SHOULDA BEEN A HORNET! Nice game anyway!

Everyone has said something derogatory about someone or somewhere. It is no big deal, and if anyone takes offense to it, then that is why they sa y it!!! everyone likes to get a rise out of others! We can't let em know when they get us!!! Just lagh it off, it always comes back to bite em!Big Grin

You're right. Every county has fans who have absolutely no class. On the other hand, it's always nice to know that there are people out there who do have respect.

Yep. I was pretty lit though....
You too??? LOL
Guru you think the atmosphere of todays games are different than they were back then??
stinger Wrote:Guru you think the atmosphere of todays games are different than they were back then??
Yes I do...at Paintsville anyway!!!
Back in the mid 80's, We were just cheering our teams and it was fun!!! Mid 90's, We still had fun, but now....we have become more, win or look for someone to blame and our atmosphere is not nearly as fun anymore. Our crowd size is proof...we used to pack our own gym all by ourselves. Now we barlely could fill 300-400 seats!
