Magoffin County 73 Paintsville 71 (Overtime)
#91
First off, that's how Paintsville warms up for every ball game. Second, the boys that replaced TWO (I did say two the first time around, not three) of the starters played just as good. All I was sayin was Hunley and Fletcher didn't do anything that impressive, the boys that came in for them were just as good if not better, especially on the defensive side.
Well, you are wrong in the assumption that the replacements are just as good, if not better. If that was the case, they would be starters.Rolleyes

Smile Go read my first post in this thread. I gave congrats to Magoffin because they played their ass' off and deserved the victory. A couple MC fans started blamin refs when you won the game, I was just givin my opinion about it.

MC showed everyone how could they can be, I hope it carries on to the region so we can see a rematch between the two.

Lastnight, IMO the replacements were just as good. Some players play better comin off the bench, I know I did when I played, that's the point in having a good bench.

Way to go Hornets, you proved everybody wrong. Now don't stop here!

Tyler Hunley probably had his best game of the year; he is the starting point guard for a reason and you say that him fouling out wasn't important??????Rolleyes

On the ball defense; Clay Fletcher is the best defensive player Magoffin has.

Wow... Congratulations to the Hornets.. I am sure that it wasn't easy going into Paintsville and pulling off the Victory, especially with three players fouling out. I was just curious if BMR made his players throw away their runner up trophies like last year from the All A regional when they got beat by South Floyd. That would have been a shame since Paintsville did furnish the trophies...Smile Smile
Wow sounds like a great game...I bet you couldnt get in wal-mart after the game.....you know it is the 1st of the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Magoffin they are a strong team this year congrats once again to Magoffin
Congrats Magoffin. Proved me wrong yet once again. What a way to win if your Magoffin and what a way to lose if your Paintsville. Good luck to both teams next week at Expo Center.

Congrats Magoffin, every one was against us winnin but you proved them wrong! After all the people tellin you you would never beat them I am so proud of you that you can look at them and say that we have beat Paintsville!!! Good Luck At The EXPO!!!! And I want to say Our Seniors played their hearts out ( and so did the rest od the team) and I couldnt be more proud of them!!!
Even Paintsvilles announcers said Tyler Hunley was one of the best ball handlers in the 15th region, how did Bundy do? Was he important? You are a joke redneck. Grow up!!!
First of all I would like to say congrats to the Magoffin County Hornets on their first district title since 2001. This also marks the first time in the school's history that the boy's and girl's team both shared the championship. As for the game itself, all I can say is wow. This is by far the best high school game I have ever attended. I think Paintsville did not perceive Magoffin as a legit threat which ended up costing them the title. Throughout the entire year, Paintsville has been ranked at the top of the region but I did not see that during this game. Magoffin outplayed them all four quarters and ot (which should have never started to begin with). IMO the Hornets played like they wanted it more and they proved to me that they were the better team on this night. Does this necessiarly mean that Magoffin is the better overall team? Probably not. But that's why they play the game. The environment of this game was absolutely the best you could ask for. I admit that I have criticized the size of Paintsville's gym several times but it was great last night. I don't think anyone in that gym cared how hot it was or how closely packed everyone was. I believe this game will only add to the great games that have been played in that gym. The only fault to this great game was the officiating. It was HORRIBLE, plain and simple. I think it's sad that the 15th region actually allows these guys to referee. There is no consistency on either end of the floor. In the end, it almost cost Magoffin the game. Clay Fletcher's final foul was probably one of the worst calls I have ever seen as a fan. It amazes me how they can call a touch foul on one end and then call nothing when someone gets hacked on the other end. I don't see how it's so hard to call the same thing on both ends of the floor. I think Paintsville fans would also admit that as well. The other night during the Paintsville and Johnson Central girl's game an over and back call was assesed against the Lady Tigers when the girl caught the ball on the half court line from an in bound play. IMO the 15th region has a serious problem on their hands when it comes to officiating. I think they also need to look into the actual definition of a jump ball. But despite the poor judgment of the refs, this was still an amazing game to watch. I give full credit to the Paintsville Tigers. They probably didn't bring their A game but they sure didn't give this one away. I wish both of these teams much luck next week in the 15th regional tournament. I'm sure both of them will represent the 57th district with a lot of class. Once again, congratulations to the Magoffin County Hornets, 2007 57th District Champions.
Someone needs to send an email to sportsovertime, because they are getting Nathan Arnett and Eric Arnett mixed up.
Im for MC all the way to the state!!
CONGRATULATIONS MY HORNETS AND LADY HORNETS

57TH DISTRICT CHAMPS:rockon:

With all the money the state of Kentucky saves by not Wink having anybody in Johnson/Paintsville getting a check, they could just use the saved money and buy Paintsville a new gym.
and about that last shot if it was a walk or not personally i dont think it was but it makes it bittersweet when MC got beat on a questionable walk call by Slone last year. Id bet anything if those refs would have thought Eric's shot was going to go in they would have blown the whistle..
For Sure!!
Very true. The way they were calling this game I held my breath after the shot went in waiting for the whistle to blow. And by the way how do you call a walk on someone thats coming down with the rebound like they did on Clay?
