She also had 15 boards, just figured I'd throw that in.
I heard it on WYMT sports...

Congrats

Wow, great game by Fleming. Proves that she is top 5 player in the region, but still not the top. But great game either way and Congrats SV!

I have been one of Shelby Valley's biggest critics all year but I must admit this was a big win for them. Great performance by Fleming. She is definitely improving her stock as one of the top player's in the 15th. IMO Shelby Valley has proved they are the number 2 team in the region.

well i said if they contained Belfry's guards they would win this one and guess what they did...although i predicted Belfry with the win congrats to Valley and Fleming on a great game...not looking so bright for Belfry going into district now losing 2 BIG BIG games at home...

Kayla Cantrell had a huge game also, SV was down doudle digits early and coaches really got the girls back on track. Kayla hits a 3 from way out and ties it @ 54 Watch this one on WPRG ! BTW after the unjustified T on Napier, Sammy called a pretty good game.
#10
Congrats to Valley on a huge win, this proves that they are 2nd in the region, On a previous thread I said Valley would win by 2..Oh yea..I was right (lol). But Congrats to both teams on a hard game!!

Nah its not looking down for Belfry, Valley is a good team. The big factor was Belfry was taken out of their press because of foul trouble. The press was giving Valley fits, Belfry was up double digits when pressing. Im not blaming the refs so nobody accuse me of that. But it is hard to beat a good team when you have four players fouled out. Belfry battled hard in overtime but had two eight graders that dont play varsity alot in there. Belfry missed their foul shots down the stretch. Amanda Moon was 1-6 and she is usualy money. Belfry will be fine though. Deskins and Pruitt had 24 each, Moon 18 and Robinette 11. Belfry had Paige Thacker, Nikki Robinette, Merissa Pruitt, and Meghan Staten all fouled out. Amanda Moon and Shae had four fouls.

congrats valley

See there are those excuses again! wouldn't congrats valley be enough! lol those 8th graders was only in there like 1 min. i know what you are saying about its hard to press when your team is in foul trouble but still that is just an excuse you came up with instead of giving valley credit! sorry if i sounded hateful i wasn't meaning this hateful but it is the truth!
#15
Well it is an excuse to an extent. I mean Belfry had two players with 3 fouls in the second quarter, Moon and Pruitt, who had 18 and 24 points. That is huge. I mean congrats to Belfry, and I said you deserved to win and I wasn't blaming the loss on no refs. I mean 22 free throws to 41 is a huge difference but it is hard to call everything in a tight game like that were both teams are up and down so much. But honestly they could have called fouls every play on both teams with their styles of play.
But anyone that knows sports knows that it is a big excuse when you cant press because of foul trouble, especialy when its working.
And they was only in a minute but Belfry had a chance at the end so that minute matters. Belfry playes seven players and six alot of minutes and girls played rolls they was not comftorable with, but it will do them good down the road.
But Belfry only had Pruitt foul out at the end. Staten and Thacker in the fourth and Robinetteeither late thrid or early fourth.
And I dont really thing Valley shut Belfry guards down Moon had 18 points and Robinette 11.
By the way good performance by Fleming.

Belfry got theirselves in that situation not the refs not the coaches it was the PLAYERS....if u all had kept your hands to yourselves and played solid Defense then maybe you would have won.....and the 8th graders were in there for 2 minutes so dont even go there ....and the foul shot missing was worse on valleys side...cortney smallwood struggled at the line as well she was 4-12...so thats worse and valley still won.....plain and simple valley rebounded played defense and found ways to score....congrats to esther huge game...as well as cantrall and the smallwood twins...great job on the boards....maybe now valley will GET SOME CREDIT?

I agree Kayla Cantrell did have a greta game, but i have to disagree with Sammy calling a good game.He could have done better. He missed alot calls, and called crazy ones
#18
* Congrats to valley....great win....both teams played hard....seems like SV's bench has been stepping up the last few games which is something they've needed....Valley rebounded great....the smallwood twins really dominated the boards.....Flemings 40 points and 15 rebounds says enough for her....way to go valley.....keep up the hard work!!!!.....*

Sammy called a OK game, but he was to busy talking with Napier to call a good game. A good ref pays no attention what the coaches say, but sammy always tries to justify his call. The only reason a ref should call a T is when the coach cusses at him. Congrats SV!

I agree 100% with u hootie.... maybe sammy would have called more calls and seen more if he had not been arguing with napier the whole time...that shows no class but anyways congrats to sv

I didn't say good game, I said pretty good.

Congrats Valley

I'll say this they could have called a foul every possesion, on Belfry and Valley. They both play defense exact same way and both had their hands on each other all night.

This sure was an awesome game to watch! Both teams are very talented and play fast, fast, fast! And, I'm glad WYMT pointed out the score 84-82! That is really amazing. And it wasn't that the defense for both teams didn't do their job. Defense was great! Offense was even greater! I thought the game was called very fair until Sam gave Napier the T. It was so obvious he just wanted to exercise his "power". I mean, does he really have the power to make a coach sit, actually sit down in his chair, even if he is standing right in front of it and not saying a word? That was completely uncalled for.

Anyway. Congratulations to the Lady Cats AND the Lady Pirates. You both were very sportsmanlike and played great. You should be very proud of yourselves.

Can't wait for the regional tournament. One thing for sure, no one will be able to sit and watch it. Standing room only!

im not sure if it is still like this but it use to be if a coach recived a T there was a thing called the seat belt rule as to where the coach had to remain seated for the rest of the game unless a timeout was called or an injury...
#27
Seat belt rule is in effect after one technical. It just depends on how the refs want to enforce the rule. Some say can't get up at all (except time outs, not even to get a player off the bench to put them in the game). Some will allow you to still stand and coach your team (but you cannot direct anything toward the refs). In the 80's there was a year or two when the seat belt rule was in effect from the tip off until the end of the game. Obviously that didn't go over well. At least now it is only after the one T.
#28
Congrats Valley.
Nice game by Flemming moves her up on the POY ballot a few. lol
#29
Great game Ester! I cant wait to watch post season play! By the way the new coach @ Belfry aint no joke
#30
Congrats Valley!!I knew they could pull this out.All the girls stepped up and played with heart,Belfry is a very good team and played very good defence but i thought valley overall done well against the press, were flemming picked up alot of her points either score or got fouled, perkins, roberts ,cantrell done well handleing the presseure.Thought roberts and perkins played very good defence and scored and made fouls shots win the team needed them most.Good job to all valley girls way to play with heart and determanation!
