Valley hands down..
#8
Paintsville or Shelby Valley most likely, but anybody could really with the parity in basketball these days.
#9
Paintsville

I think I am going to shock everyone with this answer.....

Shelby Valley would be my guess.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.
#11
Valley or Paintsville but as of now im gonna go with Valley.
#12
From what I have seen I would have to choose Paintsville. Considering it's on their home court and they have a very talented team.
#13
No doubt that Paintsville and Valley are the favorites and it should be one of them. I personally think that Valley is playing better right now, but I think that Paintsville has played the tougher schedule and has the most talent (at least this year). So who knows which will be best in March.

BUT, you can't ignore everyone else either. We all know how March Madness changes everything. There are a few other teams that have a shot even though we all agree that they don't have the talent that Paintsville or Valley has. Some nights teams don't play well for some reason or another and if that were to happen, an underdog can knock you out. It happens all the time. So no decent team is without hope.

That my friend is a crazy statement! Valley is good. But, "no problem"? I don't think so!:redboxer:

Sorry about that I was thinking we were discussing the All A. But I still think Paintsville in the Regional Tourney as well.

Are they still having the Regional at the East Ky Expo?

I hope so, it was great last year!

This region is a two team race, SV or Paintsville, after that there is a big drop off in competition.

The 57th District Tournament will be held at Paintsville and the 15th Region Tournament will be held at the Expo Center

Valley has to be the trendy pick and clear favorite...

BUT, I see about three or four teams that can match up very well with Valley.

1. Paintsville- Arguably the most talented team in the 15th. Several quality wins this season. Legendary head coach.

2. Belfry- Pirates have IMO the top player in the 15th region so far this year in Case. They are very good in a fast pace, May matches up well with the Hatfield kid from SV, and the Pirates have had a history of playing Valley close in the regional tournament.

3. Allen Central- Despite all the off-court distractions and their youth, Johnny Martin has put a solid team together who also likes to play in the up-tempo style. They have several heady ball handlers and any team who takes them lightly could very easily get upset. Very scrappy team.... prototypical to what martin produces.

4. Phelps- This may shock people as it is actually shocking to me to write it, but Clay Campbell's Hornets have all the makings of a dark horse. Have some really solid Senior leadership in Hunt and Gannon. They play sound, disciplined basketball. The fact that Phelps has been down for so long makes them even more dangerous because they are a tough team to get up for.

And as hard as it is to say it with their record, Johnson Central can compete with anyone on the 15th on any given night,,, especially when McCarty is hitting. Pikeville will only improve now that both Honaker's are back in action.

Johnson Central is going to win it. Mark my word, they'll get things straight and come out on top at the Expo.

You obviously, immensly have no clue about high school basketball.. your 4th post since you been on here, and you make some ridiculous comment like this..
Those two teams arn't the only ones in the region who can play ball.. Thats like a blantant slap in the face to the rest of the teams.. The 15th is wide open, anyone can come out on top in March.. To say what you just said is a slap in the face

I read somewhere in a basketball magazine that we are to turn the other cheek. I think in honesty we could get a good reading from what a team has done in the 15th region in house instead of what many of the 15th teams record is overall. Shelby Valley would seem to be in pretty good shape as well as Paintsville but just as in years past the 15th will be a dog fight to get to the REGIONAL and then it really goes up a notch. Many schools in the past have sent great teams there only to get shocked and sent home crying. I never dreamed that the Valley team of a few years back when the Akers boys played that they would lose the first game on their home floor but strange things do happen. They had a great record and were crushing people. Just using that team as an example of modern times. McDowell was 33 and 4 and ranked in the top 20 in the state when they were upset by Meade Memorial one year. Johnson Central beat a Wheelwright team to death two weeks before the regional only to get beaten badly by the same team in the regional finals. Anything can happen and it usually does.

You are so right Wyatt; 3 years ago, having lost every Dist game and coming into the Dist tourney. 4th who would have picked P’burg to upset Dist. Number 1 South Floyd and then upset Allen Central and win the 58th? Then go on to upset Region favorite Shelby Valley in the first game of the Regional Tourney. It’s what makes March Madness so much fun; never knowing going into a game how it’s going to come out. A great team has an off night, on the wrong night; official’s, which call different than the officials you’re used to change the way a team can play. So many factors come into play. You have to be at the top of your game at the right time and have a little luck to boot.

Why dont you go ahead and mail Valley the trophy. They havent played that good of competion. Paintsville has played some tough teams and will continue to play good teams. Today they play South Laurel. Thats just an example. My pick is Paintsville.
#30
Valley has the most talent by a large margin, but thats not what it is all about. I think SV and Paintsville would play a close game if it came down to them, I think Valley is the better squad, but you never know when the shots are gonna fall. I think the region will come down to Paintsville and SV ad anyone else would really have to get hot.
