EKY Sportster Wrote:The refs usually are. But you can't blame the refs. They only make a difference in the close games and this one shouldn't have been close. But when McCarty is on JC is hard to beat.
I let your first two post go, but this one I can't.
AC had a 10 point lead at one point and JC played from "behind" most of the evening. It was an even matchup with both teams tying and exchanging leads until the final bell. Please don't kid yourself and think that this contest wasn't or shouldn't have been close.
As for the game...
It was a physical game. Lots of pushing off. I'm not going to blame the officials though because they called the game loose the entire night. Free throws were even.
Difference here was rebounding and second chance points. JC did a good job of exploiting the 1-3-1 with McCarty slipping free for the outside shot from the corner. Also, your opponents guards are able to rebound freely against the 1-3-1 and the Golden Eagles had a 10 board advantage for the game, including the putback to seal the win. Murray and Crum crashed the boards all night, as did Welch.
Good measuring stick for AC at this point in the season. JC, despite their record, is a top 5 team in the region, as long as McCarty is healthy.

The Rebels are going to have to get more physical on their rebounding. They let their opponent push them around entirely too much. IMO JC is the most "physical" team AC has faced this year. JC goes up hard and strong each and everytime. According to Cardsfan's stats- JC outrebounded AC 34-19.
Keep working AC- Good Luck Friday at Jackson. The REBEL faithful are behind you.

Totally agree.
I almost wrote in my other post that this was the most physical team team AC had faced. I thought that when Coach Martin put in Robbie Cole, Clinton Turner and JR Robinson during the 2nd quarter to get "physical" was an excellent move. Would've liked to have seen more of those boys early in the 4th to spell the starters for the end.

Coach Martin does seem to be using his bench more each game. I think I would have taken Josh Martin out earlier in the game. Not because of his play- but to avoid the early fouls. Josh usually does an excellent job on the turn around jumper- seems to be his signature move- and I don't think AC has anyone at this point who can fill his shoes on that move. But on the other hand, a fresh set of legs may have helped on the rebounding while allowing Josh a few minutes of rest and not risking another foul on him.
Of course that's just my opinion. Johnny gets paid to coach and I pay to watch.
GOOD LUCK REBELS!!!!

Coach Martin is one of the best coaches in the mountains. Dont blame any loss on him.

No one is blaming Coach Martin and I have nothing but respect for him. I'm sure Coach Martin could tell us (not that he should answer to the fans) his reasoning behind every coaching move he made at JC. I simply stated my opinion- and never implied that Coach Martin was wrong in anything he did at JC. I stand behind Coach Martin and all 12 of AC's players.
Good Luck at Jackson Friday- GO REBELS!!

What everyone needs to look at is two things from JC. How many points they average when they win and how many McCarty averages when they win. Then look at the losses. How many do they average when they lose and how many McCarty averages when they lose. The team average is about a 20 point swing from winning to losing.

Congrats to my Eagles, it's about time we got back on track.

Congrats JC

I hope JC gets back on the winning track now cause hate seeing a 57th district team struggle.
