Is JBS OverRated?
#1
Are they or Not?
#2
Yes they are.
#3
I think that J.B.S. is one of the top teams in the 14th region. But they are not so strong that they can't be beaten by any of the other top five or six teams in that region. I don't think that any of the teams in the 14th are ready to compete with the top teams on the state level. It is possible, on a given night, that some of the top teams in the 14th could upset a ranked team within the state but playing that type of team day in and day out would cause J.B.S. and the others to really struggle. We have solid basketball players in this area, we just don't have gifted athletes.

I think only the JBS people have overated them. I don't think anyone else in the 14th has. I don't think their any better than Hazard, Breathitt, or Perry. I think a better question would be is Stepp overated, and yes again the JBS people have overated him. So, yes I think with all the hype, they are overated and so is Stepp.

I agree kccfan. The fans at JBS have overrated them. Everyone knows they are a good team, but not so good that they can't be beaten. The JBS fans think that just because they have beaten teams they are not used to beating then they are going to win a regional championship. But anyone can win on any given night and I think JBS will find that out the hard way very soon. Who knows, they may win it, but IMO they will finish about where they did last year.
#6
I don't think JBS is overrated. At least from my perspective. They are one of only a few teams in the 14th that have a good chance of going to Rupp. But that is where I put them. On a given night they have the weapons to beat any team in the 14th, but they are beatable.

Now if any JBS fans or posters think more highly of them than that, then the fans may be overrating them, but no one else has them overrated to my knowledge. At least officially.
#7
I agree.
#8
I pretty much agree with everyone on here. They have been overrated by the fans.
#9
I think they would be a great team but I guess we will never know!
#10
how can you even say they are overrated? i mean my god, they are 7-3, they were a 3 point shot away from beating the #2 ranked team in the state, they beat a good Knott Central team, on their floor, they beat a solid Pendleton County team, i dont care what you people say about them, i mean, good god, I could see where you guys would be coming from if they were 4-7 or something like that, but jeez, get off of them, come on, its getting old, when every single thread is about JBS, and ppl hatin on em

JBS is not overrated in any way, shape, form, or fashion.
#13
Not over rated at all
#14

yeah yeah, but look at Hazard 43 point loss, to Dunbar, in one game, not combined games, and that wasnt even THEIR VERY OWN TOURNAMENT, but you guys always have something to say about JBS, so it doesnt matter if they had won the 5th/3rd, it really wouldnt have, cuz all you guys know it all, I mean according to you guys, there's 9 better players in the region better than Stepp

Money you know it all man, I mean, JBS is overrated, Stepp is the 10th best player in the region, whats your reasons for JBS being overrated?
#19
Who have they beat. Then lets talk about a regional championship. Its not by the measure that they got blew out by. DUH

True, then Hazard responded with wins over Lex Lafayette on thier floor and then Madison Central which is ranked fairly evenly with Lex Cath. What did JBS do after losing to Lex Cath by 18. They took a serious whipping from the 6th rated team in thier region and not a top 25 team by about 27. Now do you see a difference. Hazard has quality wins to go with bad losses, all JBS has is excuses.

:dontthink

I guess this Hazard and JBS issue will get answered in the WYMT tourney. You guys won't even have to wait until March to find out. lol

Lafayette is 4-6, and how much rest did JBS get after the Catholic game, very little, but go ahead and say rest has nothing to do with it, and JBS doesnt have excuses, its you guys that come on here and say all of this stuff that isnt true, and I come on here and say what is true, like Stepp isnt in the top 5 in the region, when he is ranked in the state? when many D-1 schools want him? yeah ok, so i guess those other 9 ahead of him are going to Duke, and UCLA and Syracuse right?

JBS beat Jenkins, Piarist, and Sheldon Clark pretty bad, 20 points or better for all three. They should have, those three teams are down pretty bad this year. Against what JBS calls teams under their ability, they have won over teams like LCC by 7, KCC by 5, and Magoffin by 10. How could they be considered powerhouses in their region? Those teams are pretty much equals. A 10 point, 7 point, and 5 point wins over teams in your area does not make you a dominate team. If JBS was the powerhouse that they think they are, they would have beat those three teams in their area by at least 25.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

The 14th is up for grabs by hazard, Jbs and breatthit this year. JBS is not a very good team, it has a fairly good stepp and a very good cox. Never have i seen them play team ball, Stepp in my opinion is overrated, cox is a much better player than stepp. What JBS needs to do is play team ball, sure hazard lost to dunbar badly, but they also have wins against good teams to compensate for those losses. JBS has been killed game after game after game. The only way to decide who is better is when these two teams meet and i cant wait.
#25
having seen JBS play at Sheldon Clark and then a couple of games in the Fifth Third Bank last week I have to say that yes they are overrated. Stepp and Cox are a good set of guards but Stepp likes to hog the ball and the big kids only see the ball when they rebound it. Hazard could be the best team in the 14th but don't count out Perry Central. I overheard at Lexington last week that Tubby came out to watch both Miller from Mason County and Stepp. I know he was looking at Miller but come on what does UK need with another guard that is slow and not that great a shooter.

I agree that JBS needs to play team ball. You can't win with one player. The games in Lexington could have been much closer but 5 out of 23 just ain't gonna get it. You have a 6'9" player and a 6'6' player who got 18 points in the first game and all three inside guys just got 12 points against Trinity. Believe me it could have been better. Got to pass the ball. Why don't ppl. get it. Do you want to win or do you want to showcase one player?
#27
I think if JBS High Scorer was Garrison and they actually work with him all last year and this summer to make him better instead of trying to give Stepp all the points, They would have won the 5th/3rd and would be 10 times harder to beat
#28
JBS is as good as anyone in the 14th, but the 14th is average and will not contend for a state title.

LMAO you would have to be crazy if u thought they were

I say no...A team with a player as good as Tate Cox and a scorer such as Stepp with a 6'8 decent big man in Collins and floor and team leadership of Conley and a Solid 4 with Short! Then a player like Clint Stepp off of the bench and there are other solid contributors who help out! They are a very good team!
