Wills, there is no substitute..

It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

Bart Teague and Michael Campbell- Hazard

Hazard's defense was key to their success this year, and most of it came from the excelent work done by these lb's this year. Stopping running teams like pikeville and paintsville was key to hazard's succesfull playoff bid and they came up big.

There are many great LB's in EKY this year. Wills, Tackett, Johnson, Honakers, Davis. But the best Linebacker that I saw this year, and I only saw him twice was Sam Flynn from Cov Cath.

Linebacker is not an easy position by any means, it takes countless hours of studying film, lifting weights, running, learning and teaching. You have to be a "Coach on the field." At Linebacker, you have to know everyone elses responsibilities on the field, not just your own. And if you see someone lined up wrong you fix it, if you see your opponent lined up in a different set than your D is able to defend against you audible. Linebacker is a leadership position, not only be what you say but by what you do.

I didn't see Flynn play but have heard great things about him. Josh Wills is the best LB I saw this year.

Wills by far, I dont think that anyone knew that defense as well as Will's..except for coach Morris. Who is the best defensive coordinator in my mind.. but Wills knew that defense inside out. He was amazing to watch on defense..

my boy josh wills and aaron beekman.....the best in the biz by far.

DEReK TRIPLETT for Sf did a great job SF with wat they had and considerin he didnt paly 3 games this season

The top Linebackers I watched this season were, in order.....

1. Sam Flynn- has all the intangibles, quick, strong, form tackler. Makes plays all over the field
2. Tackett-motor never stops, makes plays from sideline to sideline and strong up the middle. great toughness
3.tie Davis-despite lack of size (maybe 5'7 190lbs) very strong and physical player, lacks some speed but has quick reads and incredible toughness
3. ties Wills- strong and intimidating player up the middle, quick on blitzes and reads, lacks sideline to sideline speed but makes up for it by taking great angles on quicker backs.
5. Johnson- huge size but very much lacks speed, strong run stopper up the middle. Lets Tackett do the work outside the tackles.

the guys from sc

I would really like to know where some of these guys are going to play on the next level? Anybody have any info on where Tackett, Johnson, Wills, Davis, Honakers are leaning?
#22
Josh Denkins, senior linebacker from bath county, had over 60 tackles, close to 70, in this past season...those are pretty good numbers...hes not the biggest guy, but he flies to the ball
#23
I would say it would be a toss up between Paintsville's Sublett, Tim and Ted Honaker from Pikeville, and Michael Campbell and Bart Teague from Hazard. Like PUNJABI 79 said, the key to hazards season was their defense. But the whole defense contributed, not just the linebackers.

I don't think you can say anybody is "by far" the best. This area is full of good linebackers, and i'm sure that by playing that position that many if not all of them knew their defense like the back of their hand.

Josh Wills and Jon Shriner .. Josh Wills is tough and Shriner ... is a tank that has some wheels
#26
I didn't think anyone knew about Sam Flynn cause he's from up here, but he's real good and the best in the state that I saw this year

BFritz, do u know where he might be headed for college?

The Honaker twins from Pikeville

I'd have to agree with Sam Flynn from Cov. Cath. and second would be Michael Tackett from Johnson Central.

I'd like to have that pair in the middle on my team!
