Russell Vs Belfry
#91
jgrubby Wrote:Its been a couple seasons without the "Thunder and Lightning", (Howard/Jones)Does anyone know their primary offense. Air? Ground? What is thier offense, wing tee, Power-I? I would Figure FBALL would know this one.

Same as always. Wishbone. Pound it at you with the FB and look for the big play from HBs. Throw in a little playaction to keep the secondary honest and there you have it. Seems pretty simple but its tough to defend. Sounds famililar doesn't it. I expect a pretty low scoring game Friday.

I like Belfry is they don't turn the ball over.

If they do turn the ball over once or twice, I think it is a dead heat.

If Belfry turns it over 3 times or more, then Russell wins.

That is the way I see it.

I think turnovers will be the key for both teams. Whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game. Russell had 0 turnovers against Corbin. That is something they need to continue against Belfry.

I Want Russell To Win...But IDK...I Wanna Watch This Game Too...But Prolly Won't Get To

FBALL
Its late in the season and fumbles are geting more rare. The only factor I see is the weather. Do you think Mcglone will beef up the line by adding toby and seth at the same time to try to wear thier line down or keep them fresh by subbing them for each other? Saw him use them both at ashland, on offense to push the ball five and ten yards at a time.

No, I don't expect any kind of lineup changes this late in the year.

I don't think that will happen I believe that Jones will be the Qb again next year and then when Jones is gone Cordle will take over.

even if the bootleg is gettin stopped, and our running game is not so hot,

they have done it a few tiems in practice, i think it is a possiblity if thigns get in a tight spot and we need a new plan
Pirates win by 3...24-21
Belfry by 8, 28-20. Be a close game but Belfry has 1 too many weapons for Russell.

i think that their is a chance that this will happen but odds are that it wont just because of the fact that tyler has been running it for 3 years idont believe that they will just up and move him to half back.. even though it would be the ideal move.
Got to go with my Pirates!TongueirateSho
If Russell wants to run,,Just let them try, If they wanna pass,, go ahead!! You will be stopped COLD!!

Easier said then done.:thatsfunn
Clark looked like to be a "notch" above last season, I would imagine he will rise above the rest this Friday.

That said, Belfry should win if they get good line play and protect the football.

I'm sorry but this time of year all the teams are pretty evenly matched. You are saying that Russell will get blanked. I seriously doubt it. I also seriously doubt that either of the teams think this way. I'm sure both teams will come prepared and in the end the best team will win. But good luck in your own little world.
any links to pics of cam stadium hope theres more seating there in2004 old field and parking to small to host a final 4 game
Will the Pirates make the Devils walk the plank and put out their fire? Will the Devils burn the Pirate ship and send it to the bottom of the dark sea? I see both teams struggling to stop the other’s run game. I think the Pirates might have a better passing game to throw at the Russell Red Devils compared to last years Pirate team. The Belfry Pirates have played a better schedule in my mind but not by much. This Belfry team is very hungry and out for revenge over the 2005 game that was very winnable and would have lead to a three peat. The fans for both sides have been debating this game since the horn sounded and the Corbin team was headed for the cold bus trip back home. The Belfry fans could feel an invasion from the north brewing as the yellow jackets lost their sting. The fans will come together before the game and eat the football Thanksgiving Dinner for football in late November. The fans will part their ways and line up behind their teams on opposite sides of the field for a battle of all ages! The faces will change from pride to excitement as the battle begins. After 48 minutes one team will walk away and talk about what ifs and plans for the battles on the hard court. The other team will walk away in the hunt of another dream as they plan for their December football season. Win or lose, we as fans will walk away knowing that we have been a chapter of history in the storybooks of two rich football traditions. Russell is a team that I have gained so much respect for over the years. Their fans are as great and dedicated as the Pirate faithful to the cause. I wish each team great success and an injury free game. May the winner move forward and bring the title back to the east for the 4th time in a row! :flame:

Very well put BJ. Pretty much sums up my feelings. When will Friday get here??????:devilflam
I think this will be a replay of last year, I don't see alot of difference between the these teams! IMO #74 kind of hurt them late in the game, could not get to the QB! 6-6" 330 is great, but if you don't have any speed it will hurt you in the long run. Not trying to downgrade him, just something that really stood out to me. He is just a sophmore I understand, so he has plenty of time to slim down an work on his speed! He definetly has the frame for a D1 player if he can get the speed an endurance to go with it, LOOK OUT!

GO RED DEVILS!

yeah and ideal move is right, if things are gettin tough, hopefully we can make the adjustment if we need it:thumpsup:
I notice Russell had ZERO turnovers and still only won by 8 points.

Is this a concern for Russell. Without turning the ball over, its difficult to say they didn't play a good game.
LovetheBucs Wrote:I notice Russell had ZERO turnovers and still only won by 8 points.

No it is not a concern. Because Corbin only had one turnover. Both teams did an excellent job taking care of the football.

Corbin brought a solid defense and once it was 28-9 Russell got way to conservative IMO. Some of the Corbin followers said they did not notice Russell change their offense any. Belfry fans no very well there are many things that can be done within the running game to change things up. Russell was content to run the same set of plays and eat clock even though Corbin had adjusted. A win is a win whether it be by 8 or 80.

Corbin by the way is no slouch when it comes to stopping the running game. I said it earlier. Russell scored more on Corbin than Rockcastle Co and Bell Co combined. It was a good win.
Is it a concern that Middlesboro put up 56 points on Corbin and Belfry beat Middlesboro by 23 points?
LovetheBucs Wrote:Is it a concern that Middlesboro put up 56 points on Corbin and Belfry beat Middlesboro by 23 points?

No. Corbin was suspect against the pass. Jones was 5-7 for 86 yards and 2 TDs. Russell just didn't throw it much. I can see how Middlesboro was a tough matchup for them. Corbin also scored 40 something against Middlesboro just like Belfry did. Is this a cause for concern for Belfry? No it is not, Different teams matchup in different ways.

Again, Russell scored more points against this Corbin defense than Rockcastle (2) and Bell Co (17) COMBINED.
If Belfry is going to win this game, they will have to wrap up on their tackles and cover the punts and kicks much better then against Middlesboro. Arm tackles against Russell will not get it done.
Is russell starting their HUGE sophomore lineman this game???
TOMCAT06 Wrote:Is russell starting their HUGE sophomore lineman this game???

I would assume they are.
