i don't think it kills old rivalrys at all you just schedule them in your non-district it may not have any district importance then but you still have the pride and emotion that went into the game to start with and after its all set and done isn't that what high school football is all about

Looks like 80% of the teams in AA moved to AAA ,does all other teams pick up extra games like Russell in regular season:howdy:

lets just see how it pans out. its not like it is permanent for life
after a year or two in it you might like it
give it a chance

i agree train i think it will work out for the best and also makes the competition in districts and classes alot more even maybe giving way to new powerhouses in the state

tougher districts equal better games and bigger rivalries not only in regular season but in the playoffs as well.

Don't like the fact that some districts only have four teams. All teams in those respective districts will be in the playoffs every year. Crazy!!

Makes some districts weaker but allows Russell to pick up 3 more opponenets....

P-Burg is one of the teams that lucked out big time.

Me personnally, I can only see this lasting for a few short years....Yea more teams will get more recognition but come on, SIX state champions in Kentucky??? I could understand this in a place like Texas or California but Kentucky is relatively smaller than both of these states....Leave it at 4...

It is just through 2010 so don't get your panties in a bunch. It will be fun to see the new rivalries created by more non district games. For instance Pikeville gets a chance for better competition. Pikeville has the toughest schedule in all of class A football next year. With Holy Cross (Louisville), Ashland, Lex. Cath., Belfry, and P-Burg.

I bet John Derrosett likes how it worked out as well as anyone.

i don't really understand the change i don't see what was wrong with everything in the first place!

I would have liked to seen 5 classes.. 6 is over the edge IMO...
5 would have relatively the same bearing just a few changes, Single through 4A.. but 5A could have been for the HUGE Louisville & some Lexington schools who dominate 4A now...
IMO, it spreads the comp. too thin.. and makes some classes weaker...
Kentucky isn't California.. we don't have that kind of population..
Might as well just make 20 Classes... that way everyone pretty well has a chance at a championship

just give it a chance you might end up liking it. The more negative you are towards it now will affect how negative you become on high school football for the next 4 years.

So, if I read the new class alignment correctly, Beechwood will be in district 3, meaning they'll have to beat out Mayfield for Region 1 next year? and then beat the winner of Region 2 for semi's to get too State? Not saying these two teams will meet for Region, just using it as an example to clarify a question.
Someone correct me if I am wrong

Well it worked out great for some teams like Pburg. But man is 5a going to be tough. Highlands has one of the toughest districts in the state as well. I think JC got the bad end of the deal though. Their going to see alot of travel time next year.
11-17-2006, 07:09 AM
JC will have to travel more, but as good as they appear to be right now it shouldn't affect them. Yes it did work out in P-burgs favor as well, they should have a cake walk.

Anyone else have anything to say about the new system. Good or bad.
11-18-2006, 01:45 PM
This could be a good thing, however what does it do with the private to public schools? What divisions have the most/least? Last year thier were alot of private schools at the finals.

Why don't they just have like 36 classes, that way just about everybody gets a state title........... this is stupid.......... 2010 needs to get here fast so it can be re-aligned

What will you do then? Will you accept it or stay down on KY HS football?

I'd stay behind my team, but I'd definitely be down on high school football.
Even think about sites like this one, there will be so many threads with 6 classes that it will be dumb
