Well, the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers have done well. If you are talking about the Paintsville Tigers???? That may be a different story. Hard to tell since it is their first year. Paintsville lost a lot, but should be better than they are this year. I'm not ready to either blame or defend the coaches for Paintsville's performance this year. Give them some time and then we will see.

The biggest problem I see with P-vile football team is that there are too many good student athletes in the stands watching the game. I think with a school their size they have to have all those kids on the field. 20 years ago I think thats how it was.

Yea I agree

I wouldnt blame it on the Coaches yet, maybe if they get more players out and they may have a shot at winning, I think i heard they jus have 18 players right now?
#9
The coach's are not to blame I don't think. You have to work with what ya got and other than a few good skill players the Tigers are lacking. At the snap of the ball on every play the line of scrimage in 2 yards deeper! That kind of limits your play calling! Coach Allen will be fine when he has a few yrs. I can see the Tigers doing what they should as far as game plan but you have to have players to get it done.

I have always believed, when you lose a coach, and a ton of seniors, that things will get worse before they get better! Now will Paintsville give Allen time to right the ship and get them back?
#10
JC had the same problem in getting players out. I remember years when they only dressed 35 to 40 players. Now they have 70+, yet the enrollment is about the same. That is what coaching can do for you and Matney has done a good job getting participation. I don't blame the Paintsville coaches and the Tigers did lose a lot from last year, but hopefully the Paintsville coaches will do a good job in the years to come in getting the players out, like BMR did last year. A school as small as Paintsville has to have a high participation rate to be successful.

Leyland up in Detroit was doing a great job up until last night!

I think Paintsville graduated somewhere around 16 seniors last season. With that being said, it would be tough for anyone regardless of class to win as many games that they did last season, not to mention changing coaches. Give them a few years and hopefully more kids will come out to play. I saw several people in the stands that played last season which should have been on the field when they played Prestonsburg. Allen will do fine, just have to give him time.
#13
They lose EVERYTHING IN PUGH!
#14
I think the players and coaches at Paintsville work extremely hard, with that said I think the Talent pool is staying across the creek and the football program will be in line with South Floyd and Allen Central, average at best for the next few years.
#15
pugh is the team..the only other prospect that paintsville has is neamiah daughterer (spell check)..this kid will be great one day

I think the coaching has been alright.
I do think it could be better, but I always think that!!
But for a little insight, let me tell you something.
My son was approached on more than a few times this year to come out for football.
Everyone knows he can play, but just lacks size. Anyway, I told these people asking him to play that if they had to come around and talk 5'7"-117 pounders to play at the varsity level, that they were hurting!!!
Now he is starting! I am thrilled with his play,(tied for team lead in INT's) and although he has grown an inch, gained about 2 pounds, increased his strength by around 25-30%, his best is yet to come. As for this year, this just goes to show what the Tigers need....more players, and NO!!!, we don't need them from across the creek!!! Our best teams came from our own, and our own are born with what it means to be a Tiger!!!
That is the difference between being a Tiger and playing for the Tigers!
I'll take TIGERS anyday!!
It doesn't matter if a team dresses 15 or 115!!!
What matters to TIGERS is knowing that the eleven you have on the field are tougher and meaner that the eleven the other team has on the field!

When Paintsville gets that.....then and only then, will they be back!! It can't be coached!!
Our coaches will be fine!!! Our team will be fine!!! Our school will be fine!!!
And just so everyone understands!!!
The CITY of PAINTSVILLE is now and always has been and always will be........... PAINTSVILLE TIGER TOWN!
GO FIND YOUR OWN TOWN.....YOU AIN"T GETTIN' OURS!

I don't think anyone can ignore the "revolution" that is going on within the county. Painstville has done OK. Perhaps in the past they have overachieved. I think any decent fan has to look at that possibility. It was only a matter of time before a substantial county school asserted itself.

I think Paintsville has done just fine. A small independent within an area that also draws kids to a larger county school win often struggle to be real good.

I think Pikeville is a good example of a classic case in which to draw a distinction. Pikeville has a substantial "city limits" from which to draw its students. PCC draws from the two outer arms of Pikeville's central reach. Paintsville and JC are nearly next door to one another and Paintsville doesn't nearly have the "city limits" that Pikeville does.

I say bravo to Paintsville. I think it might be too much to ask for such a small community to produce a district contender year in and year out. I realize they have for a long time, but frankly I think that has a lot to do with the inability of JC to live up to their potential.

 Paintsville is the 5th smallest Class A school to field a football team, they have always been one of the smallest. As for the city limit thing, Paintsville's city limits are very small. Pikeville's city limits is HUGE, and you have to live in the city limits to attend Pikeville H.S. if I'm not mistaken, that is unless you are an incoming freshman, can anyone verify that.

Actually.... Paintsville encompasses more than you think... You know the boundaries... we're not just the "downtown" area.... look all around you... you all pay occupational taxes and so forth. Keep on buildin' 'em in our limits and we'll keep on taxin.... the city and city schools will continue the relationships they have always maintained no matter who is in City Hall. Yep, we're small, but where are your athletic State Titles? Seriously.... and look at some of your Board Members, Some Administrators, and many faculty members... what does it say on their diplomas? PHS... Tigers are the BEST! You all wanna be us so bad you have to print shirts to remind everyone you're a family...LOL...

cant blame the coaches for whats happening at paintsville,
they need to get more kids out too play

I hate to double post but the phone rang... I needed to address the original question. The Tigers will be just fine and sooner rather than later.
Someone posted there were plenty enough good ones in the stands... how good could they be if they're hiding their light under a basket?
Seriously though... we'll be fine! We always are. There's tons of support and many fine young Tigers working hard at all levels.... and that folks, is what builds programs!

this is true

I have to laugh when you and the guru post these immature comments on this site. I think that a little jealousy is coming out since Paintsville is not as dominant as they want to be. Why is that? None of the kids that Paintsville wants are coming across the creek and it is killing you guys. I guess since you want to claim your state titles then I guess we can share them because every state title that Paintsville has won came because of the county kids that played on those teams. In fact, it was the GURU who posted that that you guys didn't need any county kids. That there was a difference between "being" a Tiger and "playing" for the Tigers. It is people like you guys who have caused Johnson County fans to dislike a lot of your fans. You really think you are better just because you are a Tiger??? Face it, we live in a small town, share the same grocery stores, banks, restaurants, etc. In fact, JCHS is in the city limits as well.
And just to set the record straight...if we were jealous you wouldn't have to worry about your enrollment or the size of your football team this year would you?

This is the way it works Snake. The city sees something where they have an opportunity to tax someone or something on, they just annex it. It looks as if you all want all of the county that you can get to me. It hardly works the way that you are describing it to be. That's why we pay "occupational taxes and so forth". And still you are financialy strapped.

If they are the best, then I wonder why you all cant get some of your own to lead you. How many supers and principals have you gone through the last few years that have come out of the area. Why do you keep going after someone from Powell County, Floyd County, or Knott County to lead you , when you supposedly have the best right there? God bless Brian Auxier on his try.
