Shelby Valley 06-07

HazzBeen Wrote:Thanks Disco. Every coach up there gets bashed on here from their own fans. Saunders gets it too, and I think he has done an excellent job with what he has. You people up there need to start supporting your coaches. Maybe then you would see more district and regional championships.

Toattly agree but alot from what I seen people are happy with the job Saunders dose. Not so much on what Booher dose. I think he's a good coach. Not so much as a principal(he gave me ISS and I didn't do nothing) But anyways, show some support. As for the schedule. It looks fine to me. Just like evry other 15th region schedule. They'll be fine this year.

I dont remember anyone bashing a coach in this thread. Saunders is the footbal coach, not basketball. But Pillsbury, you proved my point, their schedule is just like every other 15th region schedule. Why would the dominate team in the region year in and year out have a schedule like all the other teams? Why not show they are the dominate team and have schedules like JC or Paintsville? I know it is going to be said they are a young team. Every team in the region is basically young. Also for the last couple years all anyone has heard is with Virgie and Dorton as the two best feeder schools that Valley will always be on top. I just think that the most dominate team in the region should have a schedule that isnt packed with 2nd and 3rd rate teams.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

That is why you aren't a basketball coach nor am I. I think the schedule is strong enough, but why make it harder especially with those young kids and maybe hurt their confidence.

If he is such a great coach what did he do the years before he came to Shelby Valley. He might be the greatest guy on earth, I have never met him, but that doesn't mean you can coach. He has won games at Valley with talent and he has given games away with his coaching. Look what he did at Belfry then look what they did after he left with less talent.
#35
I am confussed, they have a weak schedule because they are young and dont want their confidence hurt, but still Valley fans think the are one of the top teams and should win the region. Sounds like a lot of talking in circles to me... If they are a regional championship team, why not have a harder schedule to chalange them instead of giving them a schedule that is basically a cake walk? Does the coaches at Valley think that the regional tourney will be a cake walk?

What has Belfry done without him? They still haven't won anything. Actually he took over a Belfry program that was really down, and won more than they did the previous year. He went to Henry Co. and won more with them in his first year than they did the previous year.

it don't matter who the coach is anymore. the talent pool has been drained and these boys will just get tired of it like all the others in the past like seth kizer.

I hope that was sarcasm because if it wasnt ...wow...Valley will be good but even winning the district will be a tough one for them this year against Pikeville.

Ok the only other teams that are not on the schedule of Paintsville and Johnson Central are mainly tournament games. Such as:The Paintsville Tiger Classic, The Country Music Highway Classic, Fifth Thrid Invitational, Ky prep classic, and the All A tourny. Don't you have to be invited to play in these?

Teams on JC schedule that Valley dose not Play-North Hardin, East Carter,Paintsville and Sheldon Clark.(not including Tourny Games.)

Teams on paintsville sched. Valley dose not play-Sheldon Clark, Magoffin, Bryan Station, Henry Clay(not including tourny games.)

SO theres really not that much of a difference.

Oh yes, I'm sure they do!Rolleyes

Dortonwildcat5, I am sure they will too!
#43
I am telling you people this is Valley's year to shine with young talent, and it will happen
#44
Look for things to happen in the Valley this year. Not good things though! They will be many problems and this will be the worst year they ever have!
#45
This Valley team should be a top 5 team all year long.

Right now they should be the second best team in the region because they was runner up in the region last year. They have better players starting as freshmen than they graduated last season. They will pick up right where they left off by beating everyone they play in the region.

I think SV will be a pretty good team this year, but I dont think I agree with this statement. The Riddle boys was pretty darn good ball players IMO. I am not saying the freshmen they have now wont be better than them, but I dont think they will be as freshmen.

You must not have been around in the early Rowe years.
#49
Rowe did have arough couple of yrs, after that our program took shape. As for this yrs team they will compete for a regional title. might not win itbut we'll be there. Mark it down.
#50
Rowe wasn't a very good coach at all. He had the best team Shelby Valley ever had in 2001 and got knocked out at home in the 1st round of region.

He did quit on his team a few times in the middle of the season, so I don't think he was that great. Many coaches would have won with his talent that he had.
#51
And many coaches havent won with more talent.

Young talent = Freshmen in school -- not their ages.

He should give you an ISS for that hideous double negative you used. From what I hear, not everyone is pleased with Saunders. Booher had to replace Rowe. He has a lot to live up to and people shouldnt automatically expect the same results that Rowe delivered right off the back. Shelby Valley should be good this year, but their schedule does seem a little weak.

well it doesn't matter there still going to dominate

BasketBallonlyfan Wrote:The point I am trying to make is, for the last 8 to 10 years, Valley has dominated the area in basketball. Yes, they graduated a couple very good players last year. But every year they have them to graduate. Valley is supposed to be the top dog around here in hoops. For them to have a schedule with opponents having a losing record is kinda shocking. I just dont think it is that hard of a schedule personally which is surprising.
Looks about right to me. They will have several freshmen this year, some who got some varsity playing time in last year, some who didn't. They still have time next year to up their schedule if it needs to be. They are a young team but they are experienced. They will be the Top Dog so don't worry.
#57
Shelby Valley will domanate every team with there guards. Shelby Valley will also have a great inside game. Dont worry about them not having the best team because they will.

I like your confidence, but I dont think Shelby Valley will dominate every team with their guards.
#59
No SV will dominate with everyone playing as a team this year. I can see it coming.
#60
Valley should have another great season just like the past 2 years. Jacob Bryant is one of the tops in the region and the players around him will only get better b/c of his influence on his teammates. Hopefully Valley doesnt upset all of there fans and spectators, they shouldnt do that though.
