Sheldon Clark 35-Belfry 29..Overtime
OK, the fumble I am refering to was in the first Q, on SC's opening drive, when they scored their only TD of the first half. IIRC, Phil or Charlie one came up with it, though I'm not sure on that. I DO remember a Belfry player holding the ball high though, and I saw it squirt out before the SC RB was down.

Phil played amazingly last night. Sure, he's a little guy, and I doubted he'd be able to play DT, but the past 2 weeks he has put my doubts to rest.

3rd, they'll meet again in the playoffs I'm sure. "Next year" as WP put it will probably be in about 5 weeks.
Yeah Im not arguing with it Sarr we did come up with it. Anyone who watched Sports Overtime saw that they even thought it was a fumble and we got the ball.
Phil is a hard nosed kid. He ran Dials down from behind once in the second half, on the kick return I think. That isnt bad for a DL haha even though hes our backup HB.

And Im like you Sarr the next meeting should be in about 5 weeks as long as the 2 seed dont overlook Pburg. But I do see these two playing again. And I for one cant wait. These Belfry boys have alot to prove.

By the way Im not sure if I said it or not But congrats to SC on the win. I did complain a bout a thing or two. But Im not trying to take away from your win. Because fact is plain and simple we shouldnt have left it to were the calls made a difference and it wasnt you guys to blame that you got them and you defintley shouldnt give them back lol (althought it would be might nice). But the ball bounced SC way Friday night (literaly like the TD were it bounced off our guys helmet into their arms for a TD) Belfry played hard in a sense but they just had poor fundamentals like tackling and mental mistakes. They are made every game by every team but we made more than usual. It was just your guys night. Kind of reminds me of you guys and Pburg the ball just bounced your way.So congrats on the win and see you guys soon. Werever it is played Im sure it will be a fun game to watch.
BC75 Wrote:How come when someone loses, all they do is complain about the refs? Which I know some people from Belfry did and will, because its human nature. BUT when Belfry loses, MOST are thankful that it will wake them up and help them later on in the season? This just shows how much class this program has and why I always will respect the Belfry Pirates.
You know I compplained a little bit but not much. Im sure anyone could find some things that they didnt like called and I did. Especialy in a close finish
But the way I look at it is you can take a loss and dwell and get depressed and all of that and it do you not a bit of good. Or you can take it on the chin and make it a personal matter use it as motivation to improve and play with a chip on your shoulder. I feel that a team that will do the last one will be a much better team than one to roll over and quit fighting. Its like a championship fight you might get knocked down but it isnt over til its all over and you get back up and keep swinging.
the cards did not lay down and die like most teams would have done. way to go cards on the big win
SCHS Good job! You boys are great!
Who does SC play this friday?
I am excited about the rematch of these two teams..hopefully it is at CAM Stadium.
Prep Star Wrote:I'm not sure if anyone has explained the fumble sitituation yet but Harless told me Friday night after the game that the ref may have made a bad call when he blew him down but he had control of football on the ground between two of Belfry's players. Another thing as I've seen alot of ref bashing, how can you not put the blame on your team. I seen numerous things that Belfry could have done differently that could have sealed the deal even after the SC climbed back into the game. With probably 1 minute left they run a slant/out route and the spilt end drops a pass which he would have been gone to the end zone. Couple plays later they run the same play but chose to throw to the out route to a wide open Chapman and he drops no doubt the game winner. SC had a linebacker covering him and Chapman had him beat by 3-4 yards.
..that is what i saw and i was in good position to see......in the booth i had a clear view and i still didn't see .lol...i know he wasn't down.....i thought that belfry had the ball but harless came up with it he had possession in the pile..so i don't know

Thays exactly right  and it won them the game! GREAT JOB SC!! Cant wait for a rematch. Will be a great game!

I was getting a little aggravated with this thread. Some people kept saying that Belfry fans need to quit blaming the loss on the refs and everytime Belfry has a loss they blame it on the refs ect ect ect. MOST Belfry fans have congradulated SC! MOST Belfry fans have said that Belfry laid down! Maybe thought they had it won who knows....and so on. Just because some want to discuss a call or two that EVERYBODY is talking about, that is certainly questionable and has raised conversation DONT mean they are blaming the whole game on the refs Rolleyes
you will have some in every town who do that but come on! Belfry knows you cant lose a lead like that......well enough said. Nobodys blaming nobody... Belfry lost SC won, everybody has an opinion about certain calls...thats why we post in these forums, to voice our opinions, give our predictions, cheer on our teams and have a good time Confusedhh:

See ya in a few weeks

hey guys this is G Epling of the pirates..i would just like to say 1 thing..AHHHHHHH, sheww, ok, now as for all this about adam dials being the BEST running back in the area..NAA adam is good, dont get me wrong..BUT, we(belfry) missed a CAGILLIONBAZILION tackles that night..adam, and kelly are HARDNOSED runners, but MAY lack the open field MOVES in their arsonal bag..i think cory, and myself are just as good..not saying anyone is better, because i dont like to down anyone, but saying their the best is a little biased..anyway GOOD win cards, way to come back after being down 29-7..i have nothing but respect for u guys..looking forward to seeing yall again come november..later-G
I just watched the replay of the game and SC just wore Belfry's Defense out in the second half. I know Belfry is a well coached team but you couldn't tell it by watching this game. I never would have dreamed that Dials would have ran for nearly 200 yards against Belfry, I mean he's a great player there is no arguing that but your talking about a team who supposed to be able to challenge Mercer County and Russell for a class AA title this season. I'm not trying to get into this but could you imagine what Mercer would do to Belfry's Defense. As for Belfry's Offense, their running game looked ok but their QB has to get a little help from his receivers. He put the ball right where it needed to be time after time and they just dropped the ball and I recall 1 or 2 that could have put the game away in the 2nd half one was a sure TD a few plays before the Intercepetion at the end of regulation. The INT was a great play by the SC defender by the way. I'd hate to see what Coach Haywood has in store for them in practice after this loss, they need to get the Defense in better shape, they were worn out. I know Belfry is much better than they played and they should be alright come playoff time..Best of luck to both the CARDS and PIRATES.By the way I'm not biased of eighter team but figured I'd share my opinion after watching the replay of the game.
Wow!!!!!!!!!

Your right, Belfry is better than they played. I dont know what happened. Seemed like no D, no tackles no 2nd half and as far as Defense goes, thats all people could talk about at the beginning of the year....Belfrys defense... so who knows, but they are going to have to buckle down and play some football like they are capable of playing to stay in this thing. I think they can do it....I know they have it in them, Ive seen it
I just got in with the CD of the game!! And i watched Belfry's last play in OT .......It is a definite, without a doubt BELFRY TOUCHDOWN!!!!!! His entire upper torso was over the Goal line....
Belfry's JV just beat SC 22-ZIP!
Great game by the Pirates this evening Rocky You shoulda been there

The Question is ! Did the Ball cross the plane ?
I was there!! Smile
The ball crossed the goal line in his arms,No doubt, my wife was sickened when she saw it!!! Then we reversed it back to the first run of SC, it was a fumble we recovered!! But O well.
Belfry won that game!!! The officials Was just not there LOL My big arse! Im gonna put the footage on here ASAP!!
wow what a game here but congrats to the cards for not giving up
Ok now for my two cents. First of all, Im from Belfry and I support the Pirates win or lose. But even if they scored on their first possession in OT the game still pretty much belonged to the Cardinals. The reasoning behind this is that SC was almost unstoppable the entire 2nd half and this wasnt going to change in OT. Belfry on the other hand was making a mess of their execution on the offensive side and I just dont see them being able to score at will in OT. Eventually Belfry would have been stopped and SC wasnt going to be. Thus a win for SC either way you look at it. Hopefully P-burg can beat SV and give us the homefield and meet up with SC on down the road. Congratulations to the Cardinals and especially Coach Hager. Hes always been like a brother to me and I sometimes find myself rooting for him even when hes competing against my Pirates. Remember folks these are still his Pirates in some way. He still loves Belfry High and wants nothing but the best for them. A class act, a great coach and a better person. Who knows we might just see him on the sidelines coaching the Pirates some day.

IMO Chapman is the best and Dials coming in second
I think May is a little overrated..
May had 137 yards in this game on like 21 carries... and he's overrated?? You need to get some sleep there Showtime ..your judgement is a little cloudy.
Dials by far was the best running back in this game he just can't be brought down
Dials is a great back..he needs to be in better condition though, there were a few times I thought he was going to pass out.. even the guys on the replay last night commented on him gasping for air alot, he is a very good back though.

Yeah I rememer them saying that they may have to take a timeout so he could catch his breath, he more than did his job though.
Dials is the truth...and I think maybe Belfry got a little cocky in this one...if it were anything close to the cockiness of there fans on this site then they were destined to lose
