Merger County. But would like to see Belfry do it.

Mercer might have the best team, but I think Belfry has a good shot at it, Russel at home. Can't hint about the recruiting or they will lock it out.

I like a Mercer-Russell championship. I don't know but I cant help to feel like Western will knock off Mercer in the region. Western has the atheletes to beat Mercer. Not saying they will but Western has as much speed as anyone in the state.
Going out on a limb and for this and saying Lou. Western will be your 2a state champion. We all know it never happens the way we figure and just as sure as we all pick Mercer they wont even be there. Fort Campbell was picked last year by about every expert there is to breeze 2a and they found theirselves in the stands watching Russell dominate it. Lou. Western wins 2a this year.

Probably will be Mercer/Russell but just as easy could be Western/Belfry.

I think Caldwell Co. has an outside chance at making it out of the Eest and Breathitt Co. has a outside chance of coming out of the East.
Obviously as of now it looks like this:
West - 1) Mercer Co. 2) Western
East - 1) Russell 2) Belfry

I See Someone Knocking Out Mercer Somewhere In The Playoffs But If They Can't Then Mercer Is State Champs. If By Luck That Someone Does Knock Them Out Then I Say The Winner Of Belfry/russell Will Be Champs Again And Keep The Title In The Eastern Part Of The State.

i dont really see anyone knocking off mercer, they are too talented.

Belfry
Sure, Russell stayed in the game against Ashland longer, but Belfry has improved miles since then.
I don't think Mercer will be able to stop the ground games of either team though, nor will Western. I also believe that the east teams have enough speed to stop the west offences.
We'll see in what, 10 weeks?

I just believe that when it comes to 2a for the state that the eastern part of the state has the strongest teams. It must just be the line-them-up-and-play-smashmouth-football style of play. That is why it seems to be a Belfry/Russell semi.
09-26-2006, 07:57 PM
mercer co. for sure
09-26-2006, 11:09 PM
Russell Back 2 Back
09-26-2006, 11:39 PM
I believe that Belfry and Russell meet in the semis again with Russell winning that game plus taking the Championship home for the second year in a row.

I agree with Devils89
The western side of the state isn't ready for smashmouth football. That being said, Merger Co. might be an exception (as is Corbin).
I guess I HOPE Russell or Belfry can get the job done.
I love this Belfry team. They have 1 big play guy and a lot of heart otherwise. I don't think this years team is as good as last years, but Russell also appears to be slightly down compared to last season.
I don't care who makes it from the East, as long as we make it 5 in a row!

LovetheBucs Wrote:I agree with Devils89Corbin is not Western IMO. The Western Ky. teams have to be more balanced to win their respective regions, and the eastern Kentucky teams can get away with just being one demintional IMO. When the teams meet in Louisville, the western Ky. teams are not great in one area of defense, but are good at all areas, thus they usually give up alot of yards against a team that has done nothing but run for 15+ weeks.

Belfry is as good as last year & dont be surprised if their not better by playoffs.
I think it will be the winner of Belfry & Russell.

If Belfry and Russell make it to the semi I think it's better than a state game. But I have got to go with belfry

Ok so the choices are Belfry, Russell, Louisville Western, Mercer. anything else?
09-27-2006, 01:09 PM
