How good are Powell's feeder schools?

I asked the same question and have yet to find out.
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

Powell has awesome younger schools. About 50 on the youth league teams and almost 40 on the 7th and 8th grade. I don't know why they don't come out for the varsity level.

do u think that powell will have a good future..?
i think powell is going to be great next year with a great qb in #2 and his leadership in his team. coaches are doin a great job giving all that they have to these kids. im lookin forward to see how far #2 goes in his football career. the only problem i see is the o-line hope they can make that work. good luck

Anyone want to hook me up with the JFL president to schedule games. We may look at running a tourney at Russell the weekend before Halloween, Raceland runs a tournet the weekend of Halloween, This way teams could get some time in to play.. Both tourneys.... Yes a football tourney, you win you keep playing, You can PM me on here to pass on the information.

i would like to see them do well but it may be for a long time. but hay the right coach and a little tallent and they could get it going.

IMO powell will be losing quite a few good players next year. Such as Jon Shriner, and Cody Lopez. Hopefully we'll have some talent coming up. I agree with you about #2, there is room for improvement but he is doing great so far.

Unless the participatioon rate goes up i dont see too much light for the future. Although they do have a great freshman class and another great class coming from the middle school next year. Best of luck to them on next year though i'm sure the coaches will work hard to make this a winning program in Stanton.:letsparty :Cheerlead :Cheerlead

Powell is a good team...i believe they will have a good future also.

Same ole story up there until the administration goes out and gets a solid head coach.
The turn around begins at the top and total changes all around are going to have to be made. They need a guy from there who is coaching and had success at a program and mabey the guy has even played some college ball. Until total comittment to change is made it will never change and that's the bottom line. I know this for a fact.

No1 in what?
You got some dedicated guys running the little league but the middle school program is as bad as it gets. The high school program is even worse. The only fun these kids have is playing little league. Kids know what they're facing and they simply wont play until Powell gets a guy in there who knows how to motivate kids to play.

If all of the little league kids stay togerther throughout high school they may have a winning record for the first time in powell county history

If the middle school football is os bad then tell me why there 2-0

You guys don't have a clue. Swim was the only good middle school coach they ever had. He saw the writing on the wall and got out. Hey, I cant blame you for not being on the same page as the high school. I might just turn that program around someday, Could happen, Mabey even next year. Alot of demands will have to be met though.
09-15-2006, 03:11 PM
Doing there best for guys who know nothing about football. But that is the administration's fault. How many guys on that staff played college ball? How many guys on that staff coached high school ball? I know what your going to say but if you research it you'll find 3 or 4 guys on that staff never ACTUALLY coached high school football. Alot of guys can claim to have, But if you check this out you'll find my conclusion may be correct. Check with coaches they supposedly coached with and see what you find out. Dont let them give you a guy to check with , Do it on your own. How many coaches hang around on Friday night that aren't high school coaches?
Do your own checking.
Do your own checking.

Not breaking any rules, I never named any specific names. Never singled any one out or tried to point out an exact person or name. I could be talking about anyone or any coach as long as I dont name or single out an individual. Never pointed out anyone specifically on the above post. Never named anyone to an exact.

Got it Mr. Perfect,, I understand your point..... If you are talking about the good Ole boy syndrome it is everywhere..... If you are a good ole boy and want to help, you can..... Butif you want to be a winning program you have to have someone who knows how to coach... or can work great with kids and get them to do what you want them to do..... Good ole boys dont always cut it.... look at records to find out.

I personally think Powell's High School football will improve throughtout this year because with the talent and potential of this year's team, the start of to improvement will come, but with the lack of support and belief in the team only knocks the team down farther, and they have VERY little support right now...but we'll see
09-17-2006, 05:57 PM
what is everyone's problem with powell's coaches? the reason powell never has good coaches is because of the put-downs from everyone...the put-downs run them off, so therefor no one "good" or w/e will come to powell because nothing is ever good enough for anyone....IMO

coach jones has no support from the administration and he has won a state championship while in college and played football all his life. he gives 110% to that program. until you change the mentality of the administration that all their is to life is basketball the coaches will always be fighting to get what they need. their is a load of talent of coming up and their is good talent staying. the only real player that they are losing is john shriner. they still have some good defensive backs such as howell staying.
09-17-2006, 09:43 PM
Sports fan your not accurate at all. The reason Coach Jones doesnt have good coaches is because they wouldnt hire him any. There were teaching openings that could have been filled with coach/teachers who had expirience but they elected to make him up a staff of unexpirieced coaches. They could have done better than that.
Certain people from Powell and no where else are the ones who start rumors and get people fired. Your also wrong about as to why coaches wont come to Powell. They see its a Basketball at all costs and football gets what they get type place. T5hey also know they wont hire them quality help but they will just get a couple guys who teach but know nothing about football and say there you go, make the best of it.
Powell is lucky to have coach Jones and he has put up with it when the administration has given him nothing or support.
