Johnson Central 06-07
#1
How will they fare?....Top team or too young to be considered?
#2
they have to be considered too much talent youth is not a problem they are the only team in the 15th region to beat Magoffin, in the regular season in the last 2 years but i think they are a year away from the big prize still have Magoffin to deal with in the toughest district in the region,

Well, aren't those some High Expectations! Just to beat one school! There are four other schools in their District alone they have to beat. And yes they should have a VERY good team for this season and the next two also.

Hahahaha, this person put a lot of thought into that one didn't they. I think they have to be the front runner, you have Brogan, Che Che, Emily Wireman, Ritz and several role players coming back from last seasons team. So I say its their District title to lose this year.

as much as i would like to agree with you i have to disagree this year is magoffin's yr. again, with most of the howards and mann being seniors they are gonna be very impressive. however i wouldn't doubt seeing them play jc for the district title again. can't wait till basketball season gets here!

Hahahaha, well when isn't it Magoffins year? And how many more Howards do they have on that team, where do they find them at as well? Someone has got to be picking them off of a tree over in Royalton.

if memory serves me right Magoffin is the defending district and regional champs and they also beat Johnson Central in the district finals JC is really good but i think they are a year away from taking both titles and about the " tree comment " that is just stupid and why does every post start with HaHaHa thats even more stupid

both teams will be fine this year, and im sure there will be some battles between these two. I'm going to have to come in from Louisville to catch one because I'm sure it'll be exciting. Have any idea where the district is at this year? And maybe every post starts with hahaha because people from Magoffin think their team is unbeatable and every year is their year. It was just my opinion there big boy about JC this season. And the Howard comment was supposed to be a joke, I know they are all not related, but I thought they graduated 3 Howards last year and several the year before. And you taking offense to my post is even more stupid, no need to get all tore up over it, hell i thought it was a place where everyone can post their ideas...I think the mod thing has already got to your head

This team will be for real this season. People forget how the absolutley creamed Pike Central for the whole game last year, before letting inexperience get the best of them and letting the game be close, but they still won! Also, they are the only team to beat Magoffin Co. around, the beat SV by about 20, before again letting inexperince get the best of them in the region, they beat SC, P-ville, SF, and every other team some think will be contenders this year not to mention belfry by 10. With that said here is my Region top 5.

Magoffin- They are the team to beat, however, the loss of Calloray will hurt them at first. Great team play is a plus, but when things get tough how will they respond. At JC last year they were down and started to argue amongst each other, the same happened in Bowling Green. They haven't been beaten too many times lately.

Johnson Central- Young and loaded! This team has what it takes to win it all. They return all but one (chessie griffith) and with the kind of summer they had, and caliber of the teams they played, along with the offseason weight lifting program at JCHS they will be ready. Also, people forget they have the best coaching staff in East KY. IMO

Pike Central- Great talent, bad attitudes. Attitude is what has killed this team for a long time. They have what it takes to win the region but can they sustain the storm of the bickering within the team.

Shelby Valley- The valley dwellers return a lot, but will they improve on their defensive game, which I feel was there demise in 05.

Paintsville- I debated wether to put the ville or Belfry here and I put the lady tigers for one reason. Kendra Carroll. She is almost unstopable on the dribble. They also have Laura Carroll and Jessika Russell returning along with one other starter. If they can find a center to replace Jarrell this team could go a long way. However, they currently don't have a center to replace her. The JV center couldn't handle my grandma let alone, The Howard girls, Emily Wireman, Lowe, or anyone from SV.

That's my predictions... Can't wait to see how things pan out. Looking forward to practice starting OCT. 15!

How 'bout the rest of the region, teams like South Floyd, Allen Central, Pikeville, etc.
#15
Well Luther,

Allen Cental has a great, young coach and they can shoot the lights out from behind the arc, however, they can't compete with the talent of my top 5. They have the heart, but not the experience nor the strenght to play with the big dogs just yet. I do feel however they will make the regional tournament.

South Floyd has been a hot topic this preseason. They are young and have had success with their younger players at the elementary school level. They also don't have near the talent level of Magoffin Co, JCHS, or Pike Central though. I don't see them winning many games this year, I predict about a 10 win campaign for the girls in Floyd Co.

Now for Pikeville. They return a few but not enough to win the region. They could be a scary team come district tourney time, however, this year, nor the next 3 for that matter will be there year.

Sheldon Clark- just don't have the fire power to compete for a title, in my opinion they will not win 10 games.

Prestonsburg- Very talented, but not a good coach. This guy is the laughing stock of the 15th region. Not one team WANTS to play prestonsburg. Not because they are afraid but because he acts like a jerk toward other players and opposing coaches. They can shoot, but I feel without leadership from the top of the program this will be another dissapointing season in P'burg.

East Ridge- Lost a lot of players from a decent team last season. I don't think they will rebound well this season. They may make a push for the regional tourney though, and could suprise some teams.

Betsy Layne- Still young and inexperienced. Won't make the regional tournament in my opinion.

Phelps- Plenty of young talent. This teams reminds me of JCHS two years ago. Lots of talent but a few years away from being a team to be reckoned with.

Belfry- New coach, same success. Lost a great group of senions, however, Shae Deskins is the real deal. This girl could start for ANY team in the state. She will be the one everyone is trying to stop, if they can't Belfry will be good, if they can stop her... who will step up? I think their new coach will try to answer a lot of those questions in the early part of the season and Belfry will once again be a regional contender.

Lawrence Countyy- Last but not least is the bulldogs. These girls gave Magoffin Co. a run for their money all three times last season. However, JC absolutley demolished them three times. They will have a new coach, which I see as a positive. But, they aren't contending for a district title yet, let along a regional.

That's all my previews for the 15th region. Just my opinion, not any scientific hypothesis, just some country boy trapped in a hollar who loves high school sports. There's nothing like basketball in KY. Let me know what y'all think about these predictions. Don't hold back, I'm a big boy, I can take criticisim!
