Anything on Letcher County?
#1
Letcher County 2025
#2
Should be pretty good. QB and LB play should be stout.
#3
I am excited to see what the Cougars can do in 3A they should have the chance to be a powerhouse in this class.
#4
Go ahead and circle the game with Lawrence County, that is THE game in the district and determines seeding for the playoffs. Now that’s with both teams healthy and at full strength. Hope both stay healthy and strong!

With Letcher County almost beating Belfry last year and now replacing them in 3A, does that put Letcher County's expectations in the Belfry category in 3A?

No.
Why not? All the Belfry people are talking about how bad Belfry's defense was last year so it shouldn't be a big task to do better than them. Plus I remember watching our (Letcher) game with Belfry last year and if Belfry's little #10 didn't run 2 consecutive TDs late in the game we would have won by 2 scores. "No" doesn't seem sufficient.

I think Belfry’s expectations are to compete for a state championship. I think Letcher is really good and will compete for the region, but competing for a state title every year is another level. They can put the expectations there, but are they realistic or hopeful?

I guess we will see how the game with Johnson Central goes and then see what our expectations might be.

Letcher is going to be solid, always are. They are well coached!
#11
Letcher be decent
#12
Letcher should be strong upfront and at QB position but they will have to replace most of there WR and RBs. This season all depends on how Gunner Holbrook plays. If he plays like he did at end of last season Letcher will have a great year. Garrett Howard letcher’s RB and LB should be a monster this year.

Letcher Central is going to be tough in 3A! They’re always a really physical team that will get after you on defense with a ton of pressure. I think the Cougars will win the district over Lawrence County. It will be a slobber knocker of game though.
#14
I agree, I think it will be a very physical game. Both teams are very similar with really good quarterbacks. Both teams are going to be high-explosive on offense. The key will be who can get the stops on defense to get their offense back on the field. IMO, there aren't many teams in the state that returns more as Lawrence County does. They add back some players who were injured last year who are going to be game changers.

LCC gave JC all they wanted and then some just a few years ago.  That was a heck of a game.  Hope LCC has a good run this year.  I used to spend alot of time in Letcher Co
#16
I dont think Letcher will be able to stop JC's run game this year but who knows what the JC defense will be like. If it isn't much better then last year then the Eagles may get torched....
#17
Can’t wait till the new season started. Holbrook being just a junior is already turning heads.
#18
Letcher Central and Lawerence Co will be a great game. Game will be at Letcher Central
#19
Definitely looking forward to see what we can do in 3A.

I am relatively new to the Letcher area, but from what I see of them, they look good. Until you line up against someone else, you never really know what a team will be like. With that in mind, I think they have the potential and pieces to be a force in 3A.

Letcher has always been odd to me. Why haven’t they had much success. Had legendary coaches over the years…do they lose many kids across the line? All of the SWVA schools are virtually brand new.

They've had some really good teams, just run into Johnson Central a bunch, along with Corbin a few years ago, and Boyle County most recently.

They'll be one of the better football programs on the east side of 3A going forward.
