13th Region summer basketball
#1
any updates or any scores from summer games in 13th region
#2
Any summer events happening at area schools like all day events coming up anywhere anyone knows about?

I see that in the 13th only North and South are playing in the GRC live event per the schedule. Is anyone else getting out of the region at all to play? Or is the 13th going to be that weak this season? Also has anyone heard is Whitley playing summer yet, just curious if they have actually lost anyone or not?

I saw a post someone shared that  Whitley played at bell today. I heard from a close source that they Haven’t officially lost any yet. Two were not in attendance today (as they are still making up their minds) and the one is only playing to be playing until things get lined out with her eligibility. I’ve heard the mom is getting a job and her transfer will come after.

A little going on At South today. The South girls beat last years 5th region elite 8 team Taylor County 60-19. Bundy and Jones shot the ball very well for the lady cards and Mabe had a hand in every position. In game 2 Taylor was beating Pineville 10-4 with a minute to go in the first. Will try to update later when I return to the gym.

I watched South play last year and what Coach Windlan did was remarkable. How did South find the guy? His teams in Indiana played fast and pressured the whole game from what I was told and he adapted to what he had in my opinion. They will be a tough out in 25-26 and thoughts on him as a coach.
He seemed to be playing chess and others checkers from games I saw! When asking South community they love him and players love him even though he pushes them hard. Also heard he was a very good golfer, any truth to that?

Winlan was a very good hire but make no doubt about it he inherited a very good team   The South program has had a strong young core forever it seems. I saw them play twice this summer and yes they will be a tough out.  They will have 3 of the top 10 players in the 13th this upcoming year. Opinions vary in the South community as they do with any coach but personally I feel he is one of the 3 best coaches in the region.

I would agree, but he inherited a team that lost its leading scorer, only had 5 HS players and they were 20-14 year before and went 25-6 last year. Last season were ranked 3rd in district and 6-7th in region and never lost in district or region until title game. Yes he had some good players but from what I saw played team basketball and defended very well. Plus he is fun to watch on sidelines haha

3rd in district??? No.  Per the cats pause they were ranked 1 in district and 4th in region.  The leading scorer was addition by subtraction lol. The team hasn’t had many High school players for 3 years now. This upcoming season will be the first in quite a while that the starters will finally all be high schoolers. Plus last years team was led by Messer who had college interest and Mabe who was on multiple D1 radars as a 7th grdr and picked up 3 offers the past month   Pretty strong core group. I will say Winlan plays D very well which Souders never did. But make no mistake he inherited a very good program with several girls who will play college ball. But again he is a great coach
