Paintsville gave up too many offensive rebounds but you will do that in a zone. Congrats Hawks

I played pick up ball with Grants dad for years and years. The kid literally grew up in the gym watching and learning from the old timers. lol

Like I said in the other thread leading up this one, it was a "neutral site" tournament, but knew PC would have the homecourt advantage on their floor. Paintsville just had some crucial turnovers, and it's tough when your leading scorer only had 9 points, and missed a ton of shots that he normally makes, not saying that was the difference of the game, but it weighed heavily on the outcome. Paintsville fought back to take a 1 point lead late, all they needed was one stop and just couldn't get it. A lot of credit to Pike Central, these early tip-off games can be tricky sometimes especially when you're used to playing during the evening times, but they along with Paintsville really showed up, played hard and left it all out.
Stewart was really held in check, still had 18 points but didn't have the breakout type game that he is accustomed to having, Owens played a great game to take some pressure off of Stewart. I've seen the Hawks play a few times this season, and have been impressed by the PG Grant Hall, despite his size, he plays with a ton of heart, handles the ball great and just does what he needs to do to get the offense set and flowing.
Congrats to Pike Central for moving onto the semi-finals, game should be a dandy against Lawrence.
As for Paintsville, they definitely exceeded a lot of people's expectations this season. Think they were pre-season ranked 9th or 10th (it was around that area) in the Region, guess everyone thought they would finish like they did last season, but they shocked a lot of those same people. They only lose a few seniors, one was a starter, one came off the bench, but the core of this team will be entering their junior year, and will only get better as time goes on. Definitely was fun watching the Tigers this year, the future is bright for this team.
