Would you want someone to end a team’s season on the question of an inch or less on the floor without being able to replay and zoom? Is the better option to say, this is too close to call so here is an additional four minutes of play to see who comes out the winner? If it was a centimeter of the kids toe where you had to zoom in to see I don’t think as many people would be upset but almost his entire foot was on the line. Even the announcers said in real time it was a 2. If you go back and watch it seems the ref wasn’t even looking at it
I think this was the right call. Ultimately, Pikeville couldn’t hang with the pace of Lawerence. As an avid basketball fan, I can say this was not Pikeville’s best game.

Tough call for sure to have go against you, but in end pikeville missed a FT to set up attempt instead of being up four, and then had lead under ten seconds again in OT

after all the glaze everyone gives them for not even being a top 25 team in the state. Yes.

It was the wrong call, but there were other bad calls made throughout the entire game against both teams. One call doesn’t decide the game. That specific call was at the end of the regulation, giving Pikeville 4 more minutes to win the game. LC played tough.
this has got to be one of the stupiest comments ever, take basketball out of your name.

I for one am completely heartbroken for the people of Pikeville and May Valley and Shelby Valley and East Ridge. It is absolutely disgusting those communities won’t be able to watch their team Monday night

First off, congratulations to Lawrence Co. They played hard all game. Their kids competed and represented them well. I think their Coach does a great job. The shot the kid banked in at the end of regulation was a 2 but give him credit for making it. The last shot of the game their point guard made was a great move and shot. However, the officiating was lopsided all day. I disagree that it was bad both ways. Lawrence may have had a few go against them. But they didn’t get the whistle Pikeville got against them. It was sad and officiating shouldn’t determine who wins but it did this game. LC didn’t get a foul called against them until 3 minutes to go in the 2nd period. Pikeville had 2 seniors who are 2 of their best players with 2 fouls by then. 2 of those fouls called were horrible. They were calling jump balls when Pikeville kids rebounded and got bear hugged from behind. Pikeville’s center who LC had no matchup for fouled out and 3 of the fouls were terrible. Not questionable, just truly awful. This isn’t a knock on LC whatsoever. I am appreciative of the impossible job the officials agree to take on but do it fairly. This was bad and it goes far beyond the last play.
