President Trump's address to joint session of Congress
#1
If this has been a baseball game,Trump would have pitched a no-hitter and ended the game by hitting a grand slam. Democrats looked extremely petty in refusing to applaud for any part of the speech.

It would have been unreasonable to have expected Democrats to stand and applaud every time that Republicans did, but not every line of the speech was political. Trump said that nothing he could say or do would get applause from the Democrats and they proceeded to prove him right.

I have never seen either party treat any president with so much disrespect. The problem for Democrats is that Trump is very popular and his popularity on key issues is rising, even among Democrats voters.

The CBS News/YouGov survey taken after the speech showed that 76 percent of Americans approved of Trump's speech, including 69 percent of CNN viewers.

The speech was very partisan overall, yet viewers overwhelmingly approved. Democrats need a new strategy unless their goal is to drive voters to the Republican Party.

Not entirely true. Important to note the context of a poll. It wasn't 76% of Americans, but 76% of speech viewers, which were largely Republican.

Obviously, the poll only included those who watched the speech, but 20 percent of Democrat viewers approving the speech should alarm the Democrat party.

My guess that more than 20 percent of Democrats disapproved of the Democrats' childish antics during the speech. I don't know if that question was included in the survey.

The numbers also suggest that independent voters also strongly approved the speech.

Yeah I'm not a Democrat, but words matter, so saying 76% of Americans approved of Trump's speech when in reality it was 76% of 1,207 viewers polled, who were mostly Republican anyways, is important to note. Also, I didn't see in the poll where it said 20% of Democrat viewers approved of the speech. Am I missing something?

Sorry the post did not meet your expectations. You make a valid point. I created the thread during my morning commute, but I will look at the internals for the poll this evening. Polls never survey every American. I did not think I needed to explain the o obvious.

I expect that most Democrats disapproved of the speech, but there have to be many Democrats who were also unhappy with their party's elected representatives' behavior last night.

Did you watch the speech?

I don't need any polls, CBS is the biggest lying network out there. Fake poll, fake news. it was objectively a grand slam to anyone with any sense and decency. If Democrats were capable of being embarrassed, they would be. No one saw how they acted and wants to be like that. New low for them, Trump owned them in every way.

Buddy I'm not looking to be combative or hostile and I don't hold anyone's posts to any sort of expectation, but in today's world where everyone is touting fake news and claiming lies I think it's important to note the context of such numbers.

Yes I watched it.

I'm not looking to be combative either, but nobody needs to explain polls to me. The sample size is too small for the results to be significant. My take away from the speech is that replays of Democrats holding up silly little signs in protest and sitting on their hands as a 13 year old brain cancer survivor accepted an honorary appointment to the Secret Service are going to get replayed often.

It was a much better night for Trump than it was for his detractors.

The poll by CBS was a fake poll by a fake news outlet that is caught up in lies on a daily basis. The easy tell that it is a fake poll is that they subtly try to make you believe that the vast majority of Independents sided with the Democrats in disapproving of the speech. In no universe is that real, as anyone with walking around sense knows.

It would seem that the poll implied the opposite. If 51% of viewers said they were Republican, 27% said they were Independent, and 76% of viewers approved of Trump's address, then you'd assume that the overwhelming majority of those Independents approved of Trump's speech.

You are correct, I looked at it wrong. When I see anything CBS my eyes glaze over.

Not only did democrats look like a bunch of undisciplined children with their signs and outbursts, they lack any type of humanity at all… Of course it’s no surprise we’ve read it right here on the board over and over again….Democrats are now the crooked party of wasteful spending for their enrichment and absolute hypocrites detailing all of their agendas protecting women….
