Madison Southern: Open
#1
Mark Payne has stepped down.
#2
I’m hearing Cody Harp may be interested. Current DL coach, strongest staff member in the school.
#3
A name I’ve heard it Nick Mills from Boyle County
#4
Heard Tommy Greer was touring the facilities and even on the sideline for a game late in the season.

The DL coach is the strongest member of the remaining staff?

seems right… most Dline coaches still lift a little bit. Don’t see too many strong OC’s

You should see him run though.

If that’s the case may as well give him the job!

Tim Kirk is their current DC and would be a really good fit.
#11
Tom Greer wants to get back into it. Any chance he ends up here?
#12
I heard Walt Love has shown interest.
#13
From their AD

“Madison Southern high school in Berea, Kentucky is looking for its next head football coach. We are a five A school and in the same district as Montgomery County and east and west Jessamine please reach out to james.simmons@Madison.kyschools.us if you are interested. “

Doesn’t seem the brightest
#14
You had me at Montgomery County

Any chance Jon Clark comes out of retirement?

That 2-9 record his last season would be really appealing.

one bad season. Could it have been lack of talent?

doesnt he have the most career wins in school history?
has anyone else taken that program to a state championship appearance ?

sometimes you realize the grass isn’t always greener…

Using W/L records to judge a high school coach is comical

Jon Clark was very fortunate that a future NFL RB landed in his lap. How did he do after, DM left; I’m not asking this sarcastically- I really don’t know????

not 100% sure but think after Harris graduated
1 state final appearance and multiple regional appearances

MS, has had some very NICE LOOKING teams in the past 4-5 years.. Then they get annihilated by 5'8 kids.
#23
I am not sure why Greer would come out of retirement to go to Madison Southern, they don't exactly scream support for football. He wouldn't get a 1/4 of the support he got at Corbin or Bell Co, I wouldn't think. Plus, from what I'm told the administration at MS is very difficult to work with.

Personally I do not see Tom Greer being interested in Madison Southern.
#25
Greer is interested but Southern ADMIN will not even speak to Greer. Southern is a great academic school, but the admin there are not concerned with athletics. Jon Clark was great winning and playing in 3 regional title games (won 1) 2017 state runner up. It also took him a few years to build it. It’s an attractive district for a coach but Madison Central and Rockcastle County are building and kids will wind up there! Madison County schools need to force Berea Community to consolidate so Southern can have a chance…lol

I read that the admin wasn’t interested in Greer as well BUT, I’ve since heard differently. Any updates?

No clue...needs to be a good hire that will give the program stability and grow young men. Parents at Madison Southern like to gripe and not support. They are a big reason for this downfall. I know its like this at a lot of places, but the same 5 parents can't and shouldn't have to do everything.
#28
Saw where the former Coach, Payne got a new job.......as a Middle School coach???? Left a High School job to coach middle school? Is Southern that bad of a job? Legit no shade just asking.
#29
Awesome school academically and a great community, but athletics is not the focus.
