Crazy. Funny line on X -"Luka got traded and you think you're indispensable at work." lol

Cuban not being majority owner in the Mavs is how this happened, he would never have traded Luka if he had control.

I have watched 0 seconds of an NBA regular season game in probably 4-5 years. But this sounds downright dumb. Luka was 25 and had been All-NBA five times and carried the team through the playoffs last year. Luka also lost 110 million dollars in the trade as well I believe.

If Luka Doncic doesn't develop a better work ethic, the Lakers will regret this trade. The greatest ability a professional athlete can have is availability and failure to maintain a healthy weight and peak physical condition results in injuries and poor defensive performance
Dallas has put the Mavs in position to contend for a championship this season because of the trade.
I hope that Doncic treats the trade as a wakeup call. He is one of the most talented players in history and I love watching him play. It would be a shame if he squanders that talent by not taking his conditioning seriously. Fans get tired of watching stars standing on the sidelines because of avoidable injuries.

I keep up with the NBA a little throughout the season. Enough to know what's going on for the most part. Normally don't watch it much until the playoffs start.
I really don't have a favorite NBA team. Just like to follow former UK players around. Although I have kinda taken a little liking to the Celtics, going back to when Pitino was there.
I'm an AD fan. Guess I'll be following Dallas more now.

When I first seen the screenshot, I thought Shams X account got hacked, got on X to check and he literally had just broken the news, I was shocked to say the least. With the trade deadline looming, this one wasn't even 10,000 miles on the radar.
In today's NBA, Luka is definitely one of the greatest players in the world, still only 25 years old, but conditioning & injuries have always been issues, and it's been reported that's one of the main reasons this trade happened. He was also up for a super-max deal this off-season, $345 million over 5 years was the expected deal, and maybe Dallas didn't want to be on the hook for that much money and tied to the deal if he was going to continue to be out of shape and injured. Crazy that the Lakers were the only team Dallas even knew that Luka was up for a trade, been all kinds of conspiracies going around about it.
As for AD, he definitely had a great chemistry with Lebron, had a great run with LA with a championship in 2020, but the NBA is a business, to get something back big in return, you have to give up something big as well. Davis has been an All-NBA caliber player his whole career, but not even sure he has been at Luka's level. I do like this trade for Dallas tho, pairing AD up with Kyrie, and the Mavericks didn't have to give up any of their other key role players in this deal.
Funny how far the league has come. It was 15 years ago that then commissioner, the late David Stern, literally vetoed a trade that would've sent Chris Paul to the Lakers, now under commissioner Adam Silver, it's the wild west out there. Just proves that anyone can be moved, and no one would ever know about it.
