Think kids will exodus if the hire is Johnson? What kind of middle school talent do they have coming up, and will the middle school coach check out if he was interviewed for the HS job and didn't get it? You seem to have your finger on the pulse down there on Beaver creek whereas I don't know many people down there. I hate that those kids are being so neglected by the administration. It could be a good job and a good program with the right hire, but reinforcing failure is just gonna lead to more losing seasons, even with a seemingly never ending stream of size and talent that is always coming through that school. It's a shame, really.

FC has been a joke in sports since its inception due to its in house politics, have had some decent athletes with no results except for the volleyball program

That is true, which they've had how many volleyball coaches since they opened? Seemed like for a little while they were getting a new one each year.
I don't know about a mass migration but you know how it is, a few parents might get their knickers in a twist and transfer their kids else where. It will be more parent driven than student-athlete driven Id bet, if it happens. .. With Prestonsburgs program on such a good note right now I would not be shocked to see a few kids end up there..
I'm pretty curious about this new hire myself...
well
This continues to puzzle me. Why in the world would a coach not have already been named? I personally think that no one has applied that they are seriously interested in, or they are waiting for someone to give them an answer. Regardless, this has to be taking a toll on an already fragile program, especially considering off season workouts. I've said this before and I will say this again, any kid who is serious about playing football in Floyd County, better be moving North on 23 to Prestonsburg.

To me it is either prestonsburg or Betsy Layne. Jarred jarrel really cares for his players.
I’ve given up on this lol.

Almost mid January and still no coach named, kinda ridiculous even for FC.
Floyd county policy is slowing this down. They can’t officially hire supplemental spots until Feb.
Aside from Floyd County policy, anyone hearing anything new?
I've been asking around and it seems no one knows nothing,LOL.. Im guessing they already know, or at the least have their pick in mind and they are just waiting to announce it.

Going to be Scotty Johnson, or Trevor Hoskins…maybe Jarrodd Jarrell……John D?

Why would Jarrell want to leave Betsy Layne? With the success he’s had at BL, I wouldn’t think they would wanna let him go either.
Does Donny Daniels end up with the job?
Feel like this job has been open forever!

Just waiting on the “right guy” or “any guy” ?

He’s done well at BL by giving them a couple of playoff wins. That in itself is a monumental accomplishment that deserves praise. But they also just graduated the best 2 football classes that BLHS will probably ever produce consecutively without producing a championship. That might make him a little antsy moving forward. I’m not sure what they’ve got coming up, but I don’t see it being anywhere close to what he’s had the last two years. I’m afraid the talent will fall off hard the next couple of years and with Belfry moving into the district they’ll probably start doing what they’ve historically done and all of the sporadic football talent they are able to produce will start traveling up and down US 23 to the championship schools. I hope not though, I think it’s good for the mountains to have new teams that compete, but I just don’t see it happening on the hill. The passion for football still just isn’t there. It’s still (and probably always will be) a basketball school. Also, Jarrell hasn’t been able to get much support on the sideline, which is evident since he’s the head coach, OC and DC. That’s too many hats to wear to win a championship. I wish him luck if he stays, but I think he will want to win moving forward and idk that he will be able to do that at BL.

I know guys who’ve applied but I don’t think they are right. Only guy is Trevor Hoskins that I think could flip it.

What does flipping it look like?

I don’t mean any disrespect to that part of the county, but football down there has never been good. 3 total postseason wins between Wheelwright, AC, SF and FC combined.

Few wins could do a wonder.

Seriously though Trevor would be a great hire and would do a lot for the community for 20+ years. Possibly flip some of you Black Cat fans....
Floyd central will just hire Scotty Johnson unless something changes. Like most said they don’t care. Instead of building a championship program they rather build nothing more than another loosing season.

what has Hoskins accomplished to make you believe he will be “the guy”
I Just know him personally and know he's a good character guy, tries to do things the right way, and is young.
However I have no credibility on here so this is 100% just my opinion
Not familiar with Floyd Central football but the fact he recently passed on the Pineville job and a return to college tells me this is a possibility..obviously no inside knowledge could be completely wrong.
The word is that it will be Trevor Hoskins, and it should be announced next week. If this is true, it sounds like this program is finally going to go in an exciting new direction which is a pleasant surprise knowing what the typical Floyd County political hire would normally be. Finally some hope for the kids in this area, an area that is starving for new excitement in the football program. The talent is there, the size is there, but nobody wants to come out and play for the same old thing, a losing team with absolutely no positive re-enforcement. The aura around the program was no brotherhood, every man for himself, no culture, and ultimately it was simply like beating a dead horse. This is a new age with new types of personalities, and the kids just don’t respond the same way that we once did, and anyone close to this program knows this. It’s time for someone to show these boys what a real football program can actually be.

Hoskins better bring few coaches with him.FC needs a new start no more my son plays so I’m going to help coach like every year lol.
Floyd Central is so political that they can’t get out of their own way. This school was built on politics and continues to be run on politics. Nothing and nobody will convince me they’ll ever contend in any sport as long as things stay the way they are within the board. Pathetic bunch that thinks they know what they’re doing but continues to drag that school down.

That school hires awful coaches and instead of hiring people who can teach. When coaches do resign they hire within the school and that continues the same old pattern.
