From what I saw, as a person that remembers the state championship contenders from the 1980's that Paris produced, he is leaving the program in better shape than he found it 5 years or so back. I have been impressed with how he turned the program around and helped it get some swagger back. Can't blame a man for putting his children first before his job as the post from bac suggests. Good luck to him!

Big loss for Paris, will be hard to replace if possible.

It’s really hard to be coaches wife. Because most of his time is spent away. Paris has some good pieces coming back for 2025.

I agree. But it seems there a lot of coaching changes coming in 2025.

I don’t feel like there are near as many as usual this year.

Paris could drop back off quite a bit. He had a lot to do with the kids coming back or atleast not leaving to Burbon Co.
#9
Conflicts and some politics is what I’m hearing.

Hearing Bret Baierlein was let go at Bourbon County and Tyquan Rice has been hired at Bourbon

If all this is true, to me it makes sense. Not that Bourbon was a super power prior to Rice taking over at Paris, but I didn’t think it was a coincidence that while Rice was at Paris, the greyhounds had gotten some really good talent and saw a rise in the programs success while Bourbon Co seemingly fell back several steps and didn’t seem to have the same type of talent they had before Rice took over at Paris. If the rumors are true and Rice is taking kids with him when he goes, it’s just more of the same thing with the ups and downs of that area’s football. There are so many schools in that 60 mile radius it seems like it’s a geographical oddity and everyone is close enough to move in and out of school districts as they please.

Bourbon has been terrible for about 20 years... from 7th grade up.. gonna be a process to really be any kind of real contender... In 1a, one or two kids can change the outlook, not the same.
#14
No it’s not the same. My statement wasn’t really in reference to Boutbon suddenly being a contender because they were getting Rice and some of the kids from the Paris roster. I think it changes things for Paris more than it does Bourbon. Paris has 17 kids in the class that will be juniors next year. That’s Rice’s son’s class. That group has a lot of talent. I’m hearing that’s the main group that’s going to lose a lot from. If they lose the top kids from that class (heard as little as 5 and as many as 10 kids leaving), coupled with all they lose to graduation, they will be hard pressed to be competitive next year.

I think you could possibly see some of those kids though, could end up finding their way down the road to Sayre. Sayre is expensive, don’t get me wrong, but they lose a lot and there are opportunities for kids to step in and play right away. I just don’t see this going very well for Paris regardless.

As for BC, if kids follow Rice there, it’s gotta just be loyalty to him. They couldn’t possibly think they could all go there and contend for even a regional championship.

 20 YEARS?

So since 2005.

Pretty sure they've played Belfry deep in the playoff many seasons with John Hodge, and had some decent early teams under David Jones. They did have some bad runs but terrible.

So coach resigns for family reasons but then is hired across town and immediately have multiple players transfers with him?

Sounds like a package deal.
#17
Ain’t sayin’….im just sayin…

Shady stuff going on it sounds like. Two starters on the Paris basketball team transferred to Bourbon County today.
#19
I said earlier that it sounded like Rice put his priorities straight by putting his kids first. Starting to sound like it wasn't the kids he was putting first...unless there is something else going on with the kids schooling at Paris. Who know what goes on in someone else's house. Still, good luck to him and the kids AND Paris is still better off now than before he arrived there. The kids should come first and be the most important thing to any parent's life, coach or not.
#20
According to sources that the school board stopped backing him and the superintendent kept brushing him off. Also the basketball coach was doing shady stuff. Having kids quit the team and then begging them to come back and then starting them and playing the whole game the next game and bypassing his son and other kids..

You can count those as good  years, but at the same time that was going on the middle school and jv teams were struggling to field teams. So overall the place has been a hot mess.

Anybody know who may be front runners to take over this program??
#23
Someone told me today that 10 were graduating and 20 were leaving off of a 25 man roster. I'm no math magician but that doesn't sound like a very attractive job. On top of that they are saying he left because of lack of admin support, so that is strike 2, and that when he left their football funds were returned to donors, which is strike 3.

If all that is false, not a bad gig.

If all that is true, they may not have a program to be coached.

What a cluster

It is amazing how money talks.

Just gonna put this out there….kinda something to think about. Maybe he lost support because he’s the problem? I mean….it wasn’t like he ran a tight ship. I seen things going on during a game on the sidelines that I’ve never seen before anywhere. Just another angle to look at especially when it looks like everyone is guessing at what’s really going on.

Na basketball coach is problem at paris. Making your MS football team forfeit in state playoffs so that your HS basketball team doesnt lose players to injury, multiple years.  Thats just for starters. I could go on.

That’s insane

Well go on then ... I'm not sure what canceling a MS football game does for your HS basketball team, and I'm pretty sure the seasons don't even intertwine, but I am all ears.
