Keathley
#1
No doubt he is the top player in the region or close to it after watching him play tonight. Seems to like to chit chat with other team a lot but can back it up so I personally have no problem with it.

Bigger question though, heard some rumors he’s going be in a New Jersey next year. How true is this and where do you think he will be?

Good players score points but great players record stats across the board and make the players around him better. Don’t see keathley doing either

I don’t know about New Jersey but no way he stays at P’Burg. His dad has too many bball connections to let him stay on a team that he can’t have winning seasons on and very little media and college exposure.

I have seen a lot of high scoring HS kids in my day, and most don't transfer to the college level. He maybe different time will tell.

First I've heard anything about leaving for New Jersey, I actually haven't heard anything about him leaving to go anywhere at this point, but I can also see him leaving to go somewhere, like it was said already his dad has a lot of connections at a lot more bigger places than Prestonsburg. About halfway through his sophomore year now, Jr & Sr sure don't want to be wasted, I can see him being moved to a bigger area or a more prominent team, but will his style of play ever change?

Last night was the most I had seen him talk any shit, I've seen him do it a some before but not to the extent of last night, a lot of times he was getting baited by MC, especially Watts, they were jawing back and forth all game.

Can't blame the kid for playing like he does, he is just a byproduct of hype surrounding him and a lot of pressure. There's no denying he is good, work ethic is unmatched. If he can continue to develop, get stronger and play defense, he will have an even greater future. I sure hope it works out for him no matter where he goes.

I think what he meant was “A New Jersey” not like going to New Jersey. But I think he will end up at Martin county the rest of his high school career. Think about it, great program and history and they are losing a lot of scoring and that’s what he loves to do and he is good at it. So i can see him going there and playing with dials.

Quick side note, how close to Travis Perry’s pace is Braxton? Seems like he’s scored a lot of buckets and only halfway through is sophomore year.

He’s at 1473 points by my calculations.

Perry was playing varsity in 7th grade. Finished with 5,381 points. He should easily get to 3k if he has no injuries which would be top 50 all time. Only 2 people have reached 4k. King Kelly and Travis Perry. Cameron Justice finished with 3,587 all time which is 4th most ever. Charlie Osborne from Flat Gap finished with 3,647 which is 3rd. Perry played deep into the postseason which gave him 5-6 extra games each season. Perry’s record may never be broken. At least none of us on here will be able to see it. It’s top 10 all time nationally

Keathley is a good kid, who displays a strong work ethic, has a competitive nature, and wants to win. No doubt he is a talented player, but the before mentioned characteristics is what separates him from other great players in our area. I think his father means well, but I think he could end up being his biggest downfall. All you have to do is listen to any Prestonsburg basketball live stream on D&D to realize, he thinks Braxton does no wrong on the court, while criticizing everyone else who may make a mistake. I don't know, but when my kids played, I was their biggest supporter and their biggest critic. I hope this doesn't effect Braxton, but it youre always being told you are the best and everything isn't your fault, how is that helpful?

As far as seeing him in a different jersey, I hope this isn't true, but I can see it happening and I wouldn't blame him for leaving at this point. Unless we see a boatload of transfers, I just don't see us competing at a high level at anytime in the future. Without him next year, would be very, very bad, and quite possibly could lead to the weakest team in Prestonsburg history. Regardless, he is a great kid with a bright future.

I hope he stays at Prestonsburg, great player, hard worker and he'll only get better and understand the game more... That said with his situation I would not be surprised to see him transfer but hopefully, he stays

Didn't people say the same thing last year, only for him to return to Prestonsburg?

He’s the leading rebounder on the team.

What was his stats tonight?

Hate to say it but don't care where he goes, he will never take a team to the next level. Not sorry.

Braxton Keathley is an unbelievable kid and a top notch D1 level player. His exposure comes from AAU, but playing at the state tournament wouldn’t hurt his offers any. Keathley works hard and deserves any accolade he gets. Would love to see him with some help out there.

He might not! Another sorry post by you! Everyone can't be a world beater that isn't from Pikeville. Get a grip, you are troll and loser!

Nowhere close. Did this kid play against Hazard? I watched p-burg when they played hazard and they were terrible. I don’t remember a stand out player like this on the floor. They all looked terrified to be there.

Doesn't have anything to do with Pikeville fool. I hope the best for him.

To be clear Big Don has been anti-Pikeville on here forever and has never added anything to this site. I'm all for Braxton. Prestonsburg has several good players and it can't be 98% Braxton because everyone is double and triple teaming him.
#24
I did not intend to be harsh. As everyone knows the kid is a great player and the sky is the limit. Would love to see him at UK someday hitting big shots like Travis Perry did the other night vs. T A&M.
#25
You guys have got me excited over this kid. I might have to make the 2 1/2 hr. drive to see him play.
#26
How did he do last night vs Phelps.
#27
i feel really bad that it feels like people root against him because of his dad
#28
Like others have said, his dad is well connected and they’re going to do what’s best for Braxton and his future. Kid is the hardest working athlete I’ve ever seen and he’s just a sophomore. He has room to mature physically and his game will improve.

Not many kids from the 15th are sitting with D1 offers and this kid has a few and will only get more. I hope he stays at Prestonsburg, but if he transfers out I’d understand that also. I don’t think moving to another program in the region benefits him unless he just wants to play in the Sweet 16. I’d say he likely heads the prep route if he does leave Pburg.

Just my opinion without any inside information.

Who are his D1 offers?
