Class 3A State Champion Christian Academy-Louisville
1. Christian Academy of Louisville (12-3)
2. Union County (12-3)
3. Central (9-4)
4. Belfry (11-3) Moves to Class 2A District 8
5. Lexington Catholic (7-7)
6. Bell County (11-2)
7. Hart County (12-1)
8. Rockcastle County (10-2)
9. Adair County (10-2)
10. Russell (9-4)
Lloyd Memorial, Garrard County
Here is last years list to look at, who has some insight and thoughts about next season early on. Just looking year end ranking I would have to say no doubt CAL is up there in the top couple teams if not #1. Does Lexington Catholic find its footing early this year and how much did all the other top teams lose like Central, Bell County? Does Union County lose alot and Hart County?

CAL should be separated by about 40 lines to the #2 team in that ranking. They are gonna be kings of 3A for a while.

Russell should be higher….Bell is to high IMO…Rock is as well. Letcher should definitely be in the top mix. Lawrence Co will find themselves hanging around as well .

I think Lawrence is going to surprise a lot of people the next two seasons. I think it’s between Bell, Lawrence, Letcher Central, and Russell for the East.

Elaborate? I agree, but why do you think that?

Garyon Hobbs and Grayden Reid have transferred to Atherton. The other message board indicated JaHyde Brown is on the fence whether he is staying or leaving CAL. I still believe CAL would be head and shoulders above everyone else in 3A but with the loss of Hobbs and Reid and potentially Brown, it might bring them closer to the rest of the field.
Lex Cath will be a top team this year in 3A. They return the majority of their defense but will lose a large chunk of their offensive skill guys. They had a talented freshman class this past year with multiple kids that either ended up starting or playing meaningful minutes by the end of the season. Catholic's schedule has killed them the last two years with RPI and drawing CAL in the semifinals so while I don't know the full schedule for 2025, I know it will be more RPI friendly.

I'd imagine because with Belfry moving to 2A and Lexington Catholic moving to the west side of the bracket then the east will be very manageable with a combination of the two of Lawrence, Bell, Rockcastle, Lloyd Memorial (?) making the semifinals.

Mercer was beat out of the playoffs by CAL 49-22. Lex Cath was beat out by Cal 50-14. How close are Mercer and Lex Cath head to head or is that score against a common opponent deceiving?

Just looking at Mercer’s returning players, it should be a good matchup within the district. I did see Ashton Drakeford is at Boyle County now.
