Way too early Class 1A Rankings 2025 Thoughts?
#1
2024 Class 1A State Champions Sayre

1. Sayre (15-0)
2. Raceland (10-5)
3. Kentucky Country Day (10-3)
4. Campbellsville (11-3)
5. Pikeville (7-6)
6. Hazard (8-5)
7. Newport Central Catholic (9-4)
8. Newport (9-3)
9. Holy Cross (Louisville) (6-6)
10. Paris (7-5)
Bishop Brossart, Russellville, Williamsburg, Paintsville

Looking at 2025, here is the final rankings last season. Does Sayre win a back-to-backo back title in 2025? who has heavy graduations and who is looking to move up for this coming year?    Smile

I'll throw a wild guess at it.  Smile

1. Kentucky Country Day
2. Pikeville

4. Campbellsville
5. Newport Covington Catholic
6. Holy Cross (Louisville)
7. Hazard
8. Sayre
9. Paris
10. Ludlow

Sayre has to go out and get some dudes for them to be considered a top 4 team, imo. They lose almost all of their offensive production. They had experience at every skill position this hear which proved to be the difference. I think KCD, Raceland, and Pikeville have a slight edge on them coming into the preseason. Tbh, the top 5 might be able to be pulled out of a hat and not be wrong.

No pressure but Raceland it’s your chance.
Or lots of pressure, Raceland it’s your chance
#5
Racelands to lose this year!
#6
I feel like if Raceland doesn't win it this year, then I don't know when they ever will.
#7
1a. Raceland
1b. Campbellsville
3. KCD
4. Pikeville
5. Hazard

Raceland and Campbellsville have a lot returning, as does KCD. Right now, I'd pick the Rams and Eagles to meet at Kroger.
#8
Hmmm... So Raceland may need to go to #1.
#9
The Rams have a lot coming back and should be very good for the next few years but…..I hate to be that guy.Until we commit to staying vertical in the passing game late in the season the Rams will end every season in heartache. Raceland had one athlete this past year that could gash a defensive and he was injured all year. He had one good run in the state championship game and he’s probably gonna be a Ironton Tiger next year.
#10
I hope he sticks it out and finishes as a Ram. He’s always been a Ram and so has his family. That being said, we have a lot of pieces to the puzzle. Sayre proved you don’t have to have a super vertical passing game. You just have to use the passing game in general and show that you will atleast take shots. I think the offense will expand in ‘25 with more trust given to Waller. Mike will always run first and want to pound the ball, but I think he will open things up more bc on film, when we opened up the offense a little more in the second half against the Spartans we found some success. Last season was a year of over achieving and growing up. The season we had far surpassed my expectations. The next two years are where the rubber meets the road though, imo. And it’s time to put up a title next to the silver place medals.
#11
Raceland is the team to beat this year and all you have to do is stop their running game and that’s hard to do

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot more kids jumping ship to Ironton in the next few years.  Not just from Raceland but from all of the area schools.  They are currently the place to go if you want to get big time college exposure and they’ve proven that they are a place that you can win a state title at.

I agree, Ironton does a great job on social media hyping up kids, sharing highlights, and trying to get them looked at. I can see Raceland getting some mid-tier to above average players, but the studs are going to go to Ironton.

It’s like Groundhog Day. This is the same thing I’ve saw being said for the last 3 season.

At this point my thoughts are if they win one then that’s great (obviously) but I’m also not going to hold my breath expecting it to happen either.

Any portal news? Pretty quiet right now, especially with Raceland and Pikeville posters. Maybe we both got humbled a little bit this past season. I hated the outcome of the title game obviously, but there was new life breathed into 1A by Sayre this year. I think we will start seeing some more competitive football moving forward. The Covid kids have moved on and 1A teams look more like 1A teams. Not as many 19yo seniors lol. Next year is probably the first time in a long time that the champ doesn’t return a lot and has some big shoes to fill. I really think the top 5 teams all have a real shot at winning it next year. I look for Hazard to be much improved. They were a lot better in the playoff game vs Raceland even though it was a very lopsided score. They simplify the offense a little and they could surprise some people

Who is bringing a huge sack of money to the Raceland/Pikeville game?

1A is now normal. The "covid" year is a fading memory, the transfer portal has slowed down (at least for now), and there is not a dominate team. I want to temper my expectations but I really feel my Rams have as good a chance as anyone to finally win at Kroger. The one wildcard I think is Sayre. They are a small private school in a relatively large metropolitan area and have the best chance for a few (or more) athletes to filter in. A state championship, a big name coach, and a nice environment is very enticing. In my opinion they have the best chance of becoming a dominate 1A program. Hopefully Raceland wins one before that happens.

Neither covid nor the portal had anything to do with Pikeville winning 3 in a row in dominating fashion. Hopefully Pikeville is Pikeville again this year.

Hazard needs to stay injury free. Not having Gavin Johnson hurt quite a bit in the 2nd matchup which put TOO MUCH pressure on Connor Holbrooke. It also hurt losing a starting offensive lineman a week before the playoffs either, or having one of ur seniors in club who was the 2nd leading receiver before getting hurt and having surgery after the Corbin game.

But 1A is gonna fun next year and I believe is gonna be up for grabs.

Pikeville wasn't even a fragment of a thought when I was responding to this thread. My thoughts were closer to home. There is nothing I don't like about Pikeville or what they have accomplished. I wouldn't know a transfer from a home grown Pikeville generational family, or how many Covid hold backs they had, not that it matters to me in either case. We've had plenty, again, I don't care. But our team "looks" different now, a lot younger and less experienced. We wouldn't have played in the championship game if that wasn't somewhat true for most 1A teams. I'm a big fan of eastern Kentucky football, be it Johnson Central, Ashland, Belfry, Pikeville, etc. I still think Sayre has the most potential to attract athletes and become a 1A juggernaut. I most certainly could be wrong and hope that Pikeville and Raceland can still trade blows at the top. Ease up Jet, I know you've been tore up since Jerry's closed in Pikeville, that's not my fault. Maybe we'll make it to Paris before the last one closes. If we do I'll buy you a J-Boy and a cherry Coke. Heck, maybe a piece of hot fudge cake if you start behaving yourself.

Raceland held back entire classes and raided the roster of Russell and lord knows who else and still couldn’t get it done.  It’s hard to bet on Raceland winning a title when they couldn’t win with a stacked deck.

Hahah dang Blaze how the years beat you down haha. You sound a lot more like me and a lot less like you. You gotta be careful speaking the truth Blaze it’s considered being negative. It will get you talked about. You should know true Raceland homers don’t like the truth haha. Chin up

Every kid they supposedly sent somewhere are either sitting at home now  or playing on an NAIA roster. Check  upikes roster out. Couple those big time guys on their roster. They are great at sending kids to places they are never gonna play and then blasting it out on tweeter and sticking their chests out over it.

Where in the hell do you get your info from? This post is a flat out lie. Aren’t you a Raceland Guy? Who held back an entire class? I’d like to have the names of the entire class that was held back. This mythical class everybody keeps talking about…..I haven’t seen it. You Raceland people who keep bashing the hell out of the coaching staff and the kids year after year need to find a new team to root for. One thing I’ll give the Pikeville guys is they at least stick together with their love for their team. Some of you supposed Raceland fans on here make me want to puke! Either Get on the Train or get the F off of the tracks! Whose roster did we raid? Where do you people get this shit from?
