Rowan County wins the 2A Sectional Championship in Morehead.

Final from the 2A Section 6 Championship. A big week for the Vikings on their way to the title beating both Fleming and Boyd. Co.

Rowan looked good in this game, played hard and deserved the win in my opinion. Boyd looks like a team struggling to find its identity due to the injuries and roster additions.

I had to adjust my glasses when I saw the score. I still didn’t believe it so I watched the second half on Kool TV. The proof is out there and apparently the Vikings are for real. Congrats to Rowan County.

I will watch this today, Congratulations to the Vikings. I was really surprised with this outcome. Are the Lions for real or is it just a one trick pony in the 64th?

There is no doubt that the Lions are struggling right now. Boyd is only showing eight games remaining on the KHSAA website, whereas most other teams have 15-17 games remaining. Maybe the rest and extra practice will help them recover and then peak come tournament time?

I’d like to see the Wells kid get some more minutes. He’s got grit and can put the ball in the hole when needed. Also can’t forget about the clutch free throw he hit to seal the game.

BC got exactly what Fleming received. The same exact refs called these games. Even the girls games. It was very obvious in the girls game who was going to dictate the outcome. The same with the boys game. Fleming got it as well. It is a very bad look on Rowan in my opinion to host teams and then play 8 on 5.
Nothing to take away from the girls and boys of Rowan. The kids played hard. They just had help.

Not sure who the third official was but the other two I believe were Sutton and Harris. Two of the most respected officials in Kentucky. I know both personally and they are perfect examples of what high school officials should be. Do they miss calls? Of course. Do they have bias towards one team or another? No way. Boyd simply got outplayed. Own it and you can repair it. Deny it and nothing changes.

Well that isn’t true. Not the same crew for both Fleming and Boyd. The same crew did do both the boys and girls on those nights but not the same crew both nights.

I truly hope you seek professional help. Your fixation for that man is undeniable. Why not just ask him for an autograph or date? You are in desperate need of therapy.

I watched the game the reason Boyd lost was not due to the officials it boils down to if Spurlock and Hicks are not shooting really well or getting up a lot of shots from 3 they are just an average team. Spurlock was held 7 points below his average and Hicks was just 3-7 from 3 and only had 9 points. The Vikings did a good job of making Spurlock and Hicks work for every shot the got. These two teams play again in just 8 days once again at Rowan Co.

Because you know them personally and it coming from you does not help the bias they showed in those games. It dictates outcomes. Ask Fleming as well BC.

I watched the game as well. They let Rowan foul and called tic tacs on BC. I will agree Boyd didn’t play great but as a whole shot well. Spur 5/10 and Rardon 7/10 from 3 and 44% as a team. 23pts for Spur and 22 for Rardon. The difference in the game was the foul line. Look who shot more. The girls game was the same way. The Fleming game as well.

Boyd County only had 11 two-point shot attempts. That's why they lost. That's just unheard of. When you have over three times as many three-point attempts as two-point attempts you're going to lose unless you're shooting lights out. You don't draw many fouls standing at half court. Rowan had 31 two-point attempts (which is still not high but at least on the low side of normal). Good things happen when you take the ball to the basket, namely buckets and/or free throws.

I would agree if it 10-15 years ago. The game has evolved to the three. Shooting 44+% in a game is high as a team. 3 is worth more than 2. I do agree if you are getting the calls of two hands or pushing on ball defense. You benefit from that. If the refs are not calling that. It is better to kick and get a three if open. I didn’t see anyone for BC or Fleming standing at half court. Refs just need to be consistent and let kids decide the outcome and not them.

I don't think we're too far apart. To win consistently I do feel Boyd County needs more balance in their shot selection. Also, I didn't literally mean standing at half court. I was emphasizing you don't get many free throws if you're shooting behind the arc.

Nate Sutton, Roy Wright, and PD Harris....three veteran officials in the region, why in the world would they be biased and intentionally call against a team. This is the best one I've heard yet.

Then why not change the crew? Homer refs for home games. It is why they got beat at Lewis. Those three not referring the home game. You really need to get out every once in the while instead of living in a cave.

Well that isn’t true. Not the same crew for both Fleming and Boyd. The same crew did do both the boys and girls on those nights but not the same crew both nights.
I yeah, 2 of the 3 did, Fields was not.

Ah, yes, classic HOOPFAN logic: “It’s never the team’s fault, it’s always the refs, the gym floor, the weather, the moon phase, or that one guy in the stands who looked at us funny.” It's like every loss is a conspiracy theory—someone, somewhere, did something wrong. But hey, maybe the other team was just better that day… or maybe they’ve been secretly practicing with a magic basketball that never misses! No matter what, though, HOOPFAN will never let a little thing like “talent” get in the way of a good excuse. It’s like they’re writing a thriller, where the plot twist is always “we were robbed!”

I think you have me confused with yourself. Statements like yours are just playing victim. I didn't realize you are so easily offended by everything. Man up buttercup!

Oh, my bad, HOOPFAN! I didn’t realize I was talking to the fortress of emotional stability himself. I’ll try to keep up with your zen-like ability to never be offended. I mean, who else can navigate the wild seas of sports drama without so much as a flinch? If I’m a buttercup, then you must be the entire flower shop—growing stronger by the minute, probably with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your emotional garden. But hey, I’ll work on my “man up” skills, as soon as I finish this glass of “calm down juice.”

I am sure. Your lack of self-awareness is mind boggling as well as your narcissistic behavior. I am sure you been working on those man up skills since 1976. You still don't have them yet. I do like your willingness not to give up on yourself.
Oh, absolutely! I’ve been working on my “man up” skills since ’76—basically, right after I was born with a fully developed ego and an endless supply of confidence. It’s been a slow, steady climb to perfection, but I’m almost there. Don’t worry though, I’m sure by the time I hit 150, I’ll finally nail it.
And hey, the fact that you noticed my mind-boggling lack of self-awareness means I’m probably doing something right, right? I mean, I can’t help it if I’m just out here making life look too easy. But don’t worry, I’m still cheering for you, too. Everyone needs a fan, even if it’s just to hold the "I Tried" trophy. Keep it up! You’re doing great!
