It’s stunning and outrageous that saying “American citizens deserve priority for American jobs” is controversial, let alone labeled “far-right” or “racist.” This is an obvious position (and the definition of citizenship) that shouldn’t require explaining.

Zooming out — this is the first truly freewheeling public debate, with full participation from citizens and leaders, that has ever happened in our lifetimes — something impossible without Elon — and it’s all MAGA. That’s where the future lives now.
Meanwhile the Democrats are busy filling Manhattan luxury hotels with illegal aliens and looking the other way when some of them set subway riders on fire. That’s what the other side has in store for us. They’re a thoroughly corrupt, totally mind-killed, broken party that delivers failed governance. And they are still very dangerous.
So let’s not lose perspective. We’ve got to invest in American workers. We can and should Paperclip a small number of truly extraordinary foreign talents. (I think a properly designed, abuse-proof O1 visa is the right tool to do it. One can debate the details.)
But it’s overwhelmingly clear that the woke mind virus is the most severe cap on America’s future success. We should, we can, and we will defeat it.

Here's an H1B visa stat for you:
Last year, the top 30 H-1B visa employers laid off 84,556 people at the same time as they sought 34,414 new H1-B foreign workers. This includes firms such as
@elonmusk
's Tesla.

Don't believe everything you read in the media. Stopping illegal immigration and ridding the country of violent criminal illegal aliens should be the Trump administrations top focus. The H1-B issue is a Democrat media ploy to drive a wedge between Trump supporters.
Musk is absolutely right about the HB-1 program. It needs some reforms, but our educational system needs reforms worse. U.S. schools do not prepare enough graduates with tech skills to fill all the openings taken by foreign nationals through the H1-B program.

Agree, but Republicans are split on H1-B. Our public schools are awful but I doubt they can be fixed. Also Mike Johnson is going to he a huge ordeal as he is the next Paul Ryan. Just disproves another Dem lie, Republicans aren't a cult they don't hesitate to disagree on policy, it's the Dems who always toe the regime line, aka a cult.

BUT again, you can't claim you are America First and you then fire Americans and replace them with immigrants some illegals.
And have the Americans train them on the way out the door.

Another example of the mooch and his sidekicks America First policy.

They are exactly the kind of people who we should be encouraging to immigrate to this country.(12-30-2024, 11:51 PM)Hoot Gibson Wrote: Don't believe everything you read in the media. As for Americans training H1-B workers, they arrive in this country with excellent technical skills. All new employees require some job-specific training, but I have learned as much from H1-B workers as they have learned from me.
H1-B workers are not cheap labor. I doubt that any of my coworkers earn under $100,000/year. H1-B workers are charged a fee by their sponsoring company and the law does not allow them to easily switch sponsors. So, their salaries are lower than salaries received by American citizens. Once they qualify for a green card, then they are free to accept a job with a different company.
IMO, this country should be recruiting well qualified tech workers and encouraging them to pursue a path to American citizenship. But our priority must be to repair the damage that the open borders policy of Joe Biden and his Border Czar, Kamala Harris, have done to this country - by closing the border and deporting illegal aliens.

You still don't get it. You can't claim America First Bring jobs back to America and hire illegals.
It's cheap labor that's the only reason.

Workers who are here through the H1-B visa program are not illegals and their stay in this country is tightly regulated. As I said above, had you read my post or performed minimal research on your own, salaries earned by H1-B workers do not make them "cheap labor." Salaries are dependent on the geographic location of their jobs. Granted, they generally do not earn as much as an American citizen performing the same job but that is because laws regulating H1-B workers allow their employers to keep a percentage of their wages and keeps them from seeking better paying position. Once an H1-B worker works here long enough to apply for a green card, then they are free to find a greener pasture.

Do you get it now, or should I include some pictures?
