Scores so far
Dec 27th
Somerset over model 63-45
Corbin over Lynn Camp 74-28
Dec 28th
Little Miami Ohio over Lynn camp 65-21
Bell County over Somerset 70-48
The best game of the tournament so far should be Little Miami and Corbin tomorrow after noon at 2:30. It was hard to judge how good Little Miami was against lynn camp. Whoever wins will take on Bell in the finals.

Doesn't Bell play Model tomorrow after the Corbin- LM game ? I'm thinking of going. Definitely going to go to the Bell -Corbin game, if it happens.

Model and Middlesboro was a close game until the very end, Bell beat middlesboro by 50.(12-29-2024, 12:05 AM)Gridiron_Raid Wrote: Scores so far

I really don’t know who would win the corbin/Little miami matchup, i would guess corbin but theres really no way to tell or make any prediction.

I saw the bell vs somerset game. Somerset played close till around midway through the third then bell pulled away. Blake Burnett took a nasty shot to the face and had a huge bandage. Buell, cameron hall and jaxson #11 played well. Buell is stronger than last year and bangs a little more. Cameron hall is just steady. He never gets rattled. I think he had 17. I really like his game. He and jaxson thomas both can stroke it. I agree its hard to know how good Little Miami is. They have decent size.

Corbin is down 29-18 at half time against little miami, cannot score if their life depended on it.

Corbin lost 59-48. Was definitely out hustled and beat athletically. Bell won 75-43. The finals will be Little Miami and Bell County tomorrow at 8:30.

I was there. Corbin lost 59-48. Corbin had a lot of trouble scoring. I thought they would be better offensively this year but i think i was wrong. Akins shot poorly from the field. I know he missed at least 5 point blank shots. He didn’t seem aggressive in the second half. Eli Pietrowski shot poorly and Corbin as a whole had trouble with little Miami’s physicality. I was told that team started five seniors. Corbin looked young and got pushed around. I had corbin as the number 4 team in the region but after watching bell co for 1 1/2 games they are much better than corbin at this moment. I would put corbin 5 or 6 behind pineville, bell and the other big teams at the top.

It's not good. I'm not sure what the problem is for Corbin. One is really bad shooting. 7-22 from the foul line is as bad as it gets. It seems like they play an ugly form of basketball when they don't have to. I feel like they should get out and push the issue more on the fast break. They slow down a lot and get too many forced shots from Pietrowski. And he gets fouled a lot but is atrocious at the line. He does a lot of good things and is really effective with his effort but sometimes he is a poor shot taker. You can't question his willingness to go after a rebound and mix it up though. I think they should post Akins more. He usually gets a bucket when they feed it to him down there. Akins disappeared in the second half when they needed him most. He can't do that if they are going to win games. There are a lot things to fix in Redhound nation if they plan on contending.

I was VERY impressed with Akins earlier in the year. I've only watched him play twice, and that was streaming the games. He gives so much energy to the game, and in the two games I watched, he was Pistol Pete!!!

Corbin just looked asleep in the first 8 minutes of the game. Not really pushing the issue or being aggressive and that’s where they lost the game. Two times little miami shot and missed a jumper, and got a put back while two players for corbin were standing back behind half court the entire possession. One turned the ball over and the top of the key, and never even looked back to stop the fast break layup. I was not impressed with the hustle, they picked up their intensity after half but when you have an 18 point half it’s hard to comeback from double digits and win.

I agree gridiron with the lack of energy. You could always count on corbin teams to hustle. That was really lacking last game.

Which is what prompted the Pietrowski thread. Corbin teams usually show good energy and hustle. To not show that in the CFIT is mystifying, and rightly or wrongly, has to fall back on the coach. Maybe there's an internal problem.

Bell with a 47-29 thumping Co. wins the tourney title Little Miami(Morrow) OH. I can't believe Corbin lost by double digits to that team. Pitiful.
Bell won three games by an average of 24 points. Congrats to the Bobcats. I like their team.

Pitiful. This is the best shooting team bell has probably ever had, and i think they only made 1 three and probably attempted less than 5. Being able to outrebound and out physical little miami with their size was a huge milestone. I figured interior defense was this teams weakness, but holding a team of 5 seniors and bigger at every position to 29 is impressive. Bad shooting night, make one three, and win by 18 means you are a good team and can win multiple different ways.

If you were at the game, you got the first real taste of braxton ferguson. Played some huge minutes since huff, buell, and thomas got in foul trouble, but dang what a game for the8th grader. He’s one to watch in the future. Already got an offer to EKU.

I like the way Bell carries themselves and goes about their business. I remember in the Corbin game at Corbin last season , Bell was down by a good margin late and still played hard and their kids were still up rooting for each other. Seems like a classy bunch of youngsters and coach. If Corbin doesn't win the region, I'm pulling for the Cats.

Bell county answered the question on whether or not they can match toughness. Little Miami was a physical team and Bell had their way with them. Burnett continued to be stellar. 8th grade braxton ferson continues to impress. Buell is a tough cover at 6’5” with his ability to drive. Bell is a notch above corbin at this point. They all can shoot and now they are showing toughness. Corbin is struggling to shoot and showing toughness at times. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
