Close on the heels of doubling the national EV charging network since 2021, the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation today celebrates reaching 200,000 public charging ports available nationwide. Convenient and reliable EV charging options in all 50 states are providing more people than ever with the freedom to travel using electric mobility. The national network is well ahead of schedule to meet a national goal of 500,000 chargers by 2030.

https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-el...c95c016ec3

The $7.5 billion figure refers to the total amount allocated through the 2021 law to build a network of charging stations across the U.S., not the amount that has already been spent. There are currently 214 operational chargers in 12 states that have been funded through the law, with 24,800 projects underway across the country, according to the Federal Highway Administration.
The 200,000 bumper includes privately and publicly funded chargers. So 214 publicly funded chargers out of more than 200,000 total. That changes everything.
Wasn't the private EV Chargers supported with federal tax subsidies.
Even mooch Elon capitalized on the government handout.
Tesla to Open U.S. Charging Network, Reaping Federal Subsidies
Anyone knows the Federal government doesn't actually build the EV Chargers they award tax subsidies or tax credits to private companies. Just like defense contractors or any private business they get handouts from the government.

As I'm sure you know, the government does hand out money to people who do no work, even illegal aliens are on the dole.

But the government hires contractors to make things because it is far more efficient and cheaper than having government employees do the work. It is also very difficult to fire federal workers who are deadbeats, thanks mostly to liberal Democrats who have unionized many employees.

1.  He promised 500,000 EV chargers - 2 years later, they'd built 7.

1-a  That’s one per $1B spent.

2.  The $65B broadband push? Zero projects launched.

2-a  Private companies are laying cable while bureaucrats obsess over diversity hiring and union mandates.

3.  Starlink? Ready to go, but the government blocked it—first claiming it didn’t work, then calling it a monopoly.

4.  The government is burning through tax dollars like a toddler with a flamethrower.

5.  Let the free market handle it—or get used to $1B-per-charger math.

@JohnStossel

1.  Isnt this a smart thing, EV is a waste, all the EV facilities keep blowing up, I feel bad for the Etown residence that have that monstrosity in their town just waiting for the big boom.

1-a  Again, they stopped before spending more

2.   Obama promised this too, spent more time hiring hit man to kill individuals and paying people to riot and crate havoc in cities.

2-a  Private companies are making bank milking the dole.

3.  I had to google what this even was, lol.

4.  show me one president that hasnt.

5.  Free market is just as bad as it is good.
1. EV isn't a waste. I will get one at some point. Right now my hybrid gets 50 mpg, which is sweet.
3. You shouldn't admit you don't know what Starlink is.
4. Poor excuse. Biden and Congress took it to new levels. It has to stop. USA is broke and it will get very ugly soon.
5. Free market is good. Some people and all governments are bad. So are socialism and communism, the alternatives to free market. Free market really isn't free anymore anyway. Governments pick winners and losers and control the markets through (over)regulation.

The point that you are willfully ignoring is that the accomplishments actually done during Biden's term are few and far between. Biden has promised to accomplish far more after his term ends than he accomplished during his 4-year term. Never had a president promised more and accomplished less than Joe Biden.

Biden did manage to smash records in the area of vacation days taken in a single term. Most of his remaining time was spent sleeping and eating ice cream.

He should have gotten more done.  The internet projects were held up due to government red tape, which was mainly on the Democratic side.

I am not aware of illegals being employed by the federal government. I would not be surprised if some agencies use contractors who are illegals. I have worked with many H1-B contract IT workers over the past 20+years.

I doubt that there are many good programmers and other American IT workers who are unemployed because of the H1-B program. American students do not pursue IT careers in great enough numbers to fill the available positions, which has always been difficult for me to understand. Among American IT workers, a disproportionately high number are Asian-Americans.

As with most other subjects, the national media is spreading a lot of misinformation and disinformation about the H1-B visa program. For example, they keep correcting Trump's claims that he uses H1-B workers in his companies, based on searches made in the names of his companies. It is very likely that Trump uses contract programmers and network admins, just as state and federal governments do. So, the media report that Trump is confused about what type of visas his own workers have because that fits their narrative.

Most, if not all major IT companies employee H1-B workers, side by side with American citizens. Many organizations, both private and public, use both employees and contractors to staff their IT departments.

I wish that more Americans proud careers in IT, but our education system does a poor job preparing students for well paying careers. Anybody with average intelligence can learn to program at no cost except their time if they have a computer and an Internet connection.

You're continuous defamation of Musk is not going to convince anybody that he created PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, Boring Company, Solar. City, OpenAI, and other companies and succeeded solely because of government handouts. Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system in the history of the world and Musk is a giant among past and present American capitalists.
