With Christmas almost here, if Santa could send you to one sporting event of your choosing, free of charge, what would be your ultimate fantasy event? And as a follow up, what is on your list that you might be able to swing someday?
  
  Fantasy-wise, even though I’m not a soccer fan, I think I’d love to experience a World Cup, especially if it was being held in a ‘friendly’ European venue. The Super Bowl, of course, but even if the Bengals return someday, I’m not shelling out $10K for a ticket.

  As for more doable events, I’m retiring in about six weeks, and I’ve got some I want to check off. I’ve been to the Final Four when it was at Rupp in ‘85, and I’ve made it to Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. Baseball was the sport of my youth above all others (OSH can relate to that), so probably number one on my hit parade will be the Little League World Series in Williamsport. And I’d love to see at least one round of the Masters, I’m in the lottery for tickets every year, so I’m hitting that one of these days. What would be on your all’s list?

Well, one thing on my bucket list was to attend a Final Four. And I got to do that!!! Went to Arlington, TX when the final four was UK, Wisconsin, UConn and Florida. It was fantastic!!!! It's also where I learned to HATE UConn fan base!! They were the worst!! Out of about 100 people I saw get arrested 90% were UConn fans. Florida wasn't far behind. We played Wisconsin the first game, and our seats were smack dab in the middle of Wisconsin fans. They were great!!! Even though we beat them in the first game, almost all of the people we met came back to support UK for the championship game. NOBODY was cheering for UConn and the Florida fans all left! That was the year we had the twins from Texas on our team, so we had UK fans (and they travel WELL), Wisconsin fans and a TON of Texas fans that were all pulling for UK. I will never forget that trip!!

I also got to meet a man who was on Dealey Plaza the day President Kennedy was shot. The girls that I was with had to physically pull me away from that man, and my grand daughter paid him because I took up so much of his time. He was amazing to speak with, and had some wonderful stories. I was hanging on every word. He told me that he saw a muzzle flash come from behind the fence on the grassy knoll. He told a police officer but they didn't pay any attention to him because he was just a kid. He also had some theories on the reason why Kennedy was shot. I would still be there talking to him if my girls hadn't made me leave.

To add to your response JP, the greatest event I ever attended, at least as far as the prestige of it nationally, was the Villanova-Georgetown national championship game at Rupp. It was my senior year at UK, and I couldn’t find anyone interested enough in either team to tag along with me, so I walked downtown solo and bought a (paper) ticket off a scalper for to the best of my memory $10 bucks. Seriously. And then I watched in amazement as Villanova played the so-called perfect game and beat Pat Ewing and the Hoyas 66-64.

I'm torn between two.  The Super Bowl,  I'd really like to attend one. Wish I'd gotten to go to one of New England's.  Just neither when they played the Giants lol.

Or the World Series.  I'd love to attend every game of a world series.  I'd drive or fly from one city to the other,  to catch every game. 

I watch the Little League World Series on TV every year.  I'd love to attend one,  stay the whole time.  Watch the first game and everyone in between,  until the last.

The two things I'd like to have happen before spit the bit is for the Bengals to win a Superbowl and the Reds to win a World Series. So, I would like to attend the seventh game of the WS at GAPB to see the Reds win the Fall Classic and a Superbowl to get to see Joe Burrow and the Bengals finally get to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Of the courses the chances of either one of those things happening are about as likely as me , while having my morning biscuit at Hardees , being swept up in the twinkling of an eye and raptured into Jetpilot's imaginary heaven.

Growing up as a kid,  baseball was king of sports followed close behind by college football for me.  As I got older, things flipped.  If I could attend any sporting event, it would be the FCS championship game with EKU obviously winning it.  I know that the CFP now exists, but in my eyes, the FCS playoffs are a little more special.  The last is obvious.  I would like to attend a World Series game at GAB.  I also wouldn't mind seeing a NAIA football championship game preferable with Georgetown College or the Cumberlands playing it it.  I doubt the Cumberlands will be doing that any time soon.

I was at game 4 when the Reds completed the sweep. Rode through downtown Cincy on the hood of a Caddy after the game lol. Wild scene.
My top sporting event I saw in person was the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla in Louisville. I'm not normally fazed by famous people, but when I saw 2 Americans and 2 Europeans walking up the fairway in matching attire the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got chills up my spine. Crowd was wild, especially the Europeans.
I don't expect to pay the obscene prices for sporting events anymore. Didn't go to NYC this year the week before Christmas for the first time since 2011, good news is saved over $1000 on UK tickets for that fiasco yesterday lol.
Edit: it was the Reds closing out the Pirates in game 6 of the NLCS, not the World Series.

Yeah the Reds actually closed out the World Series win in Oakland that year. And I did get to see one round of the PGA championship at Valhalla the year that Tiger held off Bob May down the stretch. Unfortunately, the day I was there (it was a Friday, so second round) it rained like hell off and on all day, with a bunch of lightning delays. It made for a miserable day to be a spectator or player.

And I need to clarify my earlier post. The year I went to Valhalla was actually the year Rory won there, so it
would have been 2014. They had to finish the final round in near darkness on Sunday because they had gotten so far behind from the Friday monsoon.
That would lead to another on my wish list that I probably won’t be able to mark off. I’d love to see a round of the British Open, at St. Andrews or another of the historic venues, preferably on a day when it’s whipping wind and rain, a typical British Open day.

Very good thread. I've been thinking about this since you posted this a couple days ago. For baseball, I would love to see the Reds in the World Series. I would see a game in Fenway or Wrigley. For football, Steelers in the Super Bowl. I would settle for any Super Bowl unless, God forbid, The Cowboys vs. The Bungles, even then, I may still go just to say that I have been to the Super Bowl. I would like to see Raceland in the state finals, they didn't start making it to the finals until I moved out of Kentucky. I would like to see any event in the Summer Olympics except gymnastics. I tried talking some friends to drive down to Atlanta in 1996, but none of them would go.

My orthopedist ran in the Boston Marathon the year of the bomb blast. I would like to see either the Boston or NY Marathon.
